(AK Lim) Raced wide in the early stages.
3 ALWAYS AFRAID
(A Suriya) Was outpaced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this gelding ran on well in the straight.
5 RAINBOW FISH
(S Ruzaini) Prior to the running of this race, the Stipendiary Stewards observed that the ear-muffs impeded the gelding’s vision. Accordingly, Trainer EP Tan was advised of this occurrence and it was ordered by the Stewards that this equipment be removed. Trainer EP Tan was also issued with a reprimand. Had no pace despite being urged.
6 ZAZU
(App I Fikri) Was ridden aggressively from the jump in order to obtain a forward position. Thereafter at the 900M, the gelding obtained the lead, however, was unable to cross to the rail and raced in a one-off position until entering the straight.
7 D’GREAT EMPRESS

RACE 2 (R1188) CLASS 5 B – 1175M (Track II)
2 COME AND TAKE ALL
(AM Aizat) Was bumped approaching the 1000M and inconvenienced by the fallen Jockey S Saddam. Raced wide in the middle stages.
3 NEW GARDEN
(S Saddam) Approaching the 1000M, ducked in sharply which resulted in Jockey S Saddam being dislodged. Jockey S was examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagements for the remainder of the races today, and was subsequently taken to the hospital for further observation.
6 HORSE KING
(App H Haikal) At the 1000M, was inconvenienced by the fallen Jockey S Saddam.
7 CHIPS
(S Ruzaini) Raced wide in the middle stages.
8 ELEGENT
(App M Lukman) At the 700M, was carried out when awkwardly placed on the outside of the loose horse. This resulted in this gelding losing momentum on the turn, having to ease and shifted in behind runners.
9 SO BEAUTIFUL
(App R Nuqman) Jumped awkwardly and lost many lengths. In view of this report, this mare will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again. Vet inspection: No significant finding.
10 YINYANG
(App AB Riduan) Was bumped in severely approaching the 1000M. In the straight, was hanging in, proving difficult to assist. This resulted in the Apprentice being unable to fully assist this gelding in the straight. *(See Report)
App AB Riduan appeared before the Stewards, was shown the patrol film of the race, and advised that when his mounts were demonstrating such behavioural traits, and was advised that when he is unable to use his whip in the correct hand, he should ride his mounts under strong hands and heels ride until the end of the race rather than risking them shifting away from the whip.

App AB Riduan and his Employing Trainer, HY Cheng appeared before the Stewards and was questioned regarding App AB Riduan’s riding of HANDSOME BOY in the straight. In this regard, the Stewards specifically drew App AB Riduan’s attention to his looking back whilst using his whip, HANDSOME BOY shifting in behind runners at the 300M and the non-vigourous nature of his riding between the 200M and the 100M.
App AB Riduan explained that it was his riding style to move his head back between the 200M to the 100M whilst using his whip and that after he struck HANDSOME BOY with the whip, this gelding shifted in which resulted in it becoming awkwardly placed on heels. Therefore, he allowed this gelding to shift further in order to obtain clear running. The Stewards noted and accepted the explanation provided.
In respect of his non-vigourous riding, neither App AB Riduan nor Trainer HY Cheng were able to provide the Stewards with an acceptable explanation. However, in determining what sanction to take in this matter, the Stewards were of the view that prejudice from the Apprentice’s riding between the 200M to the 100M could not be definitely established after considering the finishing position of HANDSOME BOY and the distance between the first and second placings. Accordingly, App AB Riduan was issued with a severe reprimand.

10 KALA GHODA
(App I Fikri) Approaching the 1000M, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of MAINSTREAM which shifted in. At the 1475M, became unbalanced and was carried out which resulted in this gelding losing momentum. *(See Report)
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey A Suriya, the rider of MAINSTREAM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at about the 1000M when insufficiently clear of KALA GHODA causing him to check and lost some ground.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 November 2023 and to expire on 19 November 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:45pm).
