Jockey R Nuqman appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding the above report and whether he could have taken the run available to him at the 350M. In this regard, he explained that WINNING MONEY had been under pressure from the 800M and that he his mount would not have sufficient speed to secure the tight run available ahead of him at the 350M as he anticipated the gap would close after the 2 horses to his outside shifted in. Consequently, he elected to shift out in search of clear running; however, he was disappointed in obtaining a clear run until shortly before the finish. The Panel noted his explanation.

App I Fikri (SOON SOON) was examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagement for the remainder of the races today.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of ERUPTION today, Trainer S Dunderdale could not provide any explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules regarding in and out running.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L Riordan, the rider of ANJOU CROWN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding ANJOU CROWN, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to OMAKASE between the 1600M to the 1500M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L Riordan’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record, and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) race day, to be deferred and served on 12 July 2026, and was also fined RM 1,500/- to be paid before his next race meeting, in default of which he shall serve an additional one (1) day suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

APPEAL BY JOCKEY MOHD RIZUAN SHAFIQ BIN MAT RUSOF (R SHAFIQ) AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF SIX (6) MONTHS FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) FOR FAILING TO RIDE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE STEWARDS IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS RELATED TO HIS RIDING OF RACEHORSE “STORM CHASER” IN RACE 6 (R0290) ON SATURDAY, 18 APRIL 2026 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2026
The Selangor Turf Club Appeal Panel heard the above appeal on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
After considering submissions from Jockey R Shafiq and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Appeal Panel dismissed the appeal in part, against the conviction under MRA Rule 44(10).
However, on the issue of penalty, the Appeal Panel altered the sanction from a suspension for a period of six (6) months to a suspension of 60 days and he was fined RM25,000/-.
After hearing evidence on the issue, the Appeal Panel further ordered the suspension to be served with effect from 27 April 2026 to 26 June 2026, both dates inclusive. The deposit was ordered to be forfeited.

The Selangor Turf Club Appeal Panel heard the above appeal on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
After considering submissions from Jockey R Shafiq and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Appeal Panel dismissed the appeal in part, against the conviction under MRA Rule 44(10).

App J Ikram, App H Haikal and App Z Syafifie were all fined RM100/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to produce the Apprentice Winning Rides Book on race day.
Jockey L Riordan was fined RM100/- for misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for littering at the parade ring.
