Furthermore, STARBOY which was positioned on his outside, was running in close proximity and in his view, restricted his ability to use the whip use. Jockey XC Liang (SUPER MANJUNG) was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the mare in this race, specifically the level of restraint he applied after securing a forward position in the early stages. In this regard, he explained that he was conscious today that this horse was stepping up in distance and still needed to finish its race off strongly. Therefore, it was always his intention to obtain cover after obtaining a forward position in the race. Upon acquiring the position on the rail, due to the circumstances of the race, he had to take significant hold in order to allow his mount to obtain cover as he felt that failing to take such a hold would result in his mount being in an unfavourable position and not having the opportunity to finish its race off strongly. The Panel noted his explanation, however, Jockey XC Liang’s tactical choices will continue to be monitored closely by the Stewards.

*(See Report)

Jockey M Zaki (WESLEY WONDER) was questioned regarding the vigour of his ride in the straight. In this regard, he explained that due to his mount racing greenly, he attempted to strike a balance between his normal aggressive riding manner and educating the colt in this race as instructed. He explained that his horse was extremely green in the running and in the straight, ducked in away from the whip. He further explained that he had ridden WESLEY WONDER with head gear in trials and stated that racing without head gear in this race may have contributed to the colt racing more greenly than anticipated.

Trainer J Leck was also questioned by the Panel and confirmed the instructions on this horse. He also stated that he had entered WESLEY WONDER to race without any head gear in today’s race despite the colt racing in trials with head gear as this is the colt’s first time racing. The Panel noted his explanation.

Jockey M Zaki was nevertheless cautioned regarding the consistency of his riding, with his attention being drawn to the number of incidents in the recent weeks. He was further advised that should he appear before the Panel regarding a similar occurrence in the near future, more severe sanctions may follow.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 4 (R0798) CLASS 4B – 1020M (Track II +4), SATURDAY, 22 NOVEMBER 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2025

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App PH Seow, the rider of PACIFIC ANGEL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding PACIFIC ANGEL, she failed to ensure that she did not cause interference to STAR EIGHTY THREE which in turn interfered with SANTINO at the 500M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App PH Seow’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and her submissions on penalty. She was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 24 November 2025 and to expire on 6 December 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, she was also fined RM1,500/-.  She was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 11 (R0805) CLASS 5A – 1800M (LC A6), SATURDAY, 22 NOVEMBER 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2025

Trainer CW Choi appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding the instructions and tactics adopted on HENNU STALL and LUCKY TO WIN. In this regard, he explained that for HENNU STALL, he had instructed the rider to obtain a forward position, and for LUCKY TO WIN, he had instructed the rider that the horse was very strong in the running in its last starts and therefore it must be a priority to have control. With regards to the pace of the race, he explained that these longer distance races, can be very inconsistent regarding the pace, so his instruction for HENNU STALL regarding how forward the horse would be placed, were impacted on how fast they could go in the running, however, for LUCKY TO WIN, control in the early part of the race was the priority. He further explained that in the race, his horses were both impacted by the loose horse and that he was of the view that Jockey R Woodworth’s decision not to contest the lead despite his horse being keen, was the correct decision as LUCKY TO WIN does have the tendency to over-race in the running and contesting the lead with it could realize the risk of a speed duel in becoming realistic.

Jockey R Woodworth appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding his ride. In this regard, he explained that his instructions were to ideally obtain cover in the event that there was speed in the race. However, upon jumping, he noticed that his stable companion on the inside was very keen in the running and with his horse itself over-racing, he did not want to engage in a speed duel. Therefore, he elected to attempt to settle his mount, despite the pace of the race not being fast. When questioned regarding whether or not he could have gone forward and allowed his horse to stride more comfortably, when considering how difficult his horse was to settle, he explained that in the running, he was concerned that had he done so, it would have been extremely difficult to bring his horse back and settle, particularly due to how keen his horse was in the early part of the race. He was of the view that attempting to obtain cover behind his stable companion, affording his horse a chance to settle, would be the best option in order to outrun LUCKY TO WIN at the finish. The panel noted the explanation of Jockey R Woodworth. However, an inquiry was opened into his riding in respect of the consequences following from his easing of the pace whilst in the one-off line.

In this regard, Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of HENNU STALL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at the 1600M, whilst riding HENNU STALL, he unreasonably slowed the pace which resulted in SHOW HAND (S John) becoming tightened for galloping room which in turn clipped heels with RAGING RABBIT (R Iskandar) resulting in Jockey R Iskandar being dislodged.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Woodworth’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 24 November 2025 and to expire on 14 December 2025, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey XC Liang (LUCKY TO WIN) appeared before the panel and was questioned regarding his decision to adopt a hold which maintained heavy restraint on the gelding in the running. In this regard, he explained that as this horse had a tendency to over-race and the feedback from the Trainer was to settle this horse early as a priority. Despite his mount pulling in the running, he explained that he was satisfied that he had the horse settled enough and was giving it the best opportunity to finish its race off strongly. The Panel noted the explanation of Jockey XC Liang. However, it did draw his attention to the fact that under different circumstances, his ride may not have been as permissible.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

INQUIRY CONCERNING URINE SAMPLE CODED “J-5148” WHICH WAS TAKEN ON SUNDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER 2025 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2025, WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “METHAMPHETAMINE & KETAMINE”, WHICH ARE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES IN TERMS OF THE MRA RULES

The Stewards conducted an Inquiry on Thursday, 20 November 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, into the above matter. Evidence was taken from Jockey AK Lim, from whom the sample was taken.

After considering the currently implemented “Methamphetamine” threshold and the minuscule portion of the concentration found in the sample for Jockey AK Lim, the Panel has decided not to take this matter further.

However, Jockey AK Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) as he provided a sample of urine at the Selangor Turf Club on 14 September 2025 which disclosed, upon analysis, the presence of “Ketamine”, which is a prohibited substance.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s guilty plea, the nature of the substance, mitigating factors, and his submissions on penalty. Jockey AK Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) months, backdated from 23 September 2025 and to expire on 22 September 2026, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Additionally, Jockey AK Lim was advised that should he wish to apply for a licence again with the Club, he would be required to provide a clearing sample.

Jockey Troy See appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding of GRAND SUPREME. In this regard, Jockey Troy See explained that his riding instructions were to sit handy. However, approaching the 800M, he was tightened for galloping room and had to be eased, which placed him further behind than he would have appreciated. Subsequently, approaching 600M, he again had to ease off the heels which caused him further prejudice in the running. The Panel noted his explanation, however, Jockey Troy See was cautioned regarding the consistency of his riding.

Jockey J Mallyon appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding his riding of TYPHOON. In this regard, he explained that as anticipated with drop in trip, he settled in a rearward position early. Upon turning for home, he was only able to secure a clear run half way up the straight and consequently, only fully test the mount in the concluding stages. The Panel noted his explanation which was supported by the footage of the race.

In the concluding stages, WAIT U KNOW had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of COOL SIXTY-ONE which shifted in when hanging in in the straight

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer J Leck, the Trainer of the second placed horse (WAIT U KNOW), against the winner, COOL SIXTY-ONE (M Zaki), on the grounds of interference at the 250M. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel overruled the objection and ordered the judge’s result to stand.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey M Zaki, the rider of COOL SIXTY-ONE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding COOL SIXTY-ONE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WAIT U KNOW at the 250M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Zaki’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 10 November 2025 and to expire on 22 November 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Z Syafifie, the rider of SINGHA BAY, in the presence of the representative of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SINGHA BAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MAZE at the 250M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Z Syafifie’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 17 November 2025 and to expire on 23 November 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey J Mallyon was questioned regarding his riding of LIGHTNING GAL in this race. He explained that as with the pattern of the horse, he settled in a rearward position in the early stages of the race, however, he was placed further back than he anticipated due to the impact from the loose horse ahead of him. He explained that from the 600M to early in the straight, he was further impacted by the loose horse outside him which he thought would drift in on such a tight turn. This was compounded by him not having a clear run ahead of him. The consequences of these events, delayed LIGHTNING GAL getting balanced and him being able to fully test the mare in the straight. The Panel noted his explanation which was supported by the footage of the race.

11

KIM POLO

(CK Khaw)

Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung in in the straight.

Jockey Troy See (COOL SIXTY-ONE) appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding his ride on the gelding. In this regard, he explained that COOL SIXTY-ONE was hanging in in the straight, proving difficult to assist. He was of the view that the horse’s behavior resulted in it being unable to be fully tested in the straight and caused him to drop his right side rein briefly in the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. Trainer will be requested to take all reasonable measures to correct this horse’s behavior.

Trainer SY Lim was questioned regarding the performance of IRON SAMURAI, in particular its removal of tongue-tie in this race, as this gelding had an epiglottic entrapment surgery in January and the gelding had shown better form after the surgery when racing equipped with tongue-tie. In this regard, he explained that the horse raced with tongue-tie in its previous starts but its performance was below expectations. For today’s race, the tongue-tie was removed to test whether this will improve the horse’s performance. However, the horse again failed to perform as anticipated. The Trainer added that in future, he will reapply the use of tongue-tie on this gelding. His explanation was noted.

Jockey R Nuqman (IRON SAMURAI) was questioned regarding his tactics on this gelding, in particular to whether he could lead this race. He explained that after having a fair jump, his horse did not show the pace he anticipated despite being urged. When questioned further regarding the incident at the 800M, he explained that his horse felt erratic in the run and showed a tendency to lay out. This was further compounded when the horse racing ahead of him at the 800M, eased sharply causing him to have to steady and race onto heels. His explanation was noted.

Jockey R Woodworth (SURREY HILLS) appeared before the Panel and was questioned why he had to steady at the 800M. In this regard, he explained that the gelding was hanging out from the start, however, through corrective measures, he was able to mitigate the behaviour. Furthermore, he explained that approaching the 800M, PACIFIC WARLORD, which was racing to his outside, showed a tendency to lay in and with his mount inclined to lay out onto heels, he elected to ease.

App PH Seow (PACIFIC WARLORD) appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding statements of Jockey R Woodworth. In this regard, she explained that she was aware that SURREY HILLS was racing on her inside when approaching the 800M, and that she had maintained her racing line throughout.

The Panel noted all explanations.

When questioned regarding her ride on PACIFIC WARLORD, Apprentice PH Seow explained that it was not her intention to lead, however, after jumping well, she elected to take the opportunity to contest for the lead. The Panel noted her explanation.

A review was conducted into the start of this race in order to ascertain whether CHIEF ADL (App Z Syafifie) had been prejudiced by a handler or faulty starting gate. In this regard, after reviewing the footage of the race which included the stalls barrier cameras, it was established that App Z Syafifie’s feet were in the irons, this horse was released by the handler and the gates had opened on time. When questioned regarding why he was looking in the opposite direction, App Z Syafifie stated that he was unclear whether he was the last runner into the stalls. Consequently, the Panel was of the opinion that any prejudice suffered to CHIEF ADL was not due to any action of the barrier’s staff or a faulty starting gate, therefore CHIEF ADL was deemed a runner. App Z Syafifie was cautioned regarding his decision making in the stalls and the issue will be further raised with his Employing Trainer, KF Coetzee.

The SLTC had received reports that the samples taken from App T Ammar and App M Akmazani on the above dates respectively, were found to contain “Methamphetamine”

However, after considering the currently implemented threshold and the minuscule concentration found in the samples for both apprentices, the Panel has decided not to take these matters further.

In view of this, App T Ammar and App M Akmazani are both cleared to ride in trackwork and races.

Trainer J Ong was contacted regarding appearing before the Panel for this objection, however, he advised that he had already left the course and was satisfied to be represented by his Apprentice, PH Seow, in this matter. .

After considering the evidence in this matter which included that STRONG WHITE had secured its run, SMART LIKE JASON had clearly carried STRONG WHITE of its racing line, the extent of the interference and the margin (short-head) between horses at the finish,

the Panel upheld the objection and amended the placing to:
