RACE 8 (R0735) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M (SC A6)

1	BANKER’S TWO SIX (R Nuqman)	Raced wide throughout. Jockey briefly dropped his left side rein in the concluding stages.

4	PACIFIC SKY (App S Bahauddin)	Restrained into a rearward position from a wide draw. A review into the running and handling of the gelding will be held at a date to be fixed.
6	LUCKY FREEDOM (AL Da Silva)	Over-raced in the early stages. Had to ease when racing onto heels at the 300M.

11	KIM BELLA (Z Khairil)	*(See Report). Jockey was fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 44(12) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish.

In the concluding stages, SMART CAT had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of KIM BELLA which shifted in.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer CW Choi, the Trainer of the second placed horse (SMART CAT) against the winner, KIM BELLA (Z Khairil) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel overruled the objection and ordered the judge’s result to stand.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of KIM BELLA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding KIM BELLA, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SMART CAT in the concluding stages.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Z Khairil’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 27 October 2025 and to expire on 2 November 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (2) Malaysian race days, he was also fined RM3,000/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Stewards, today, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC SKY. Evidence was taken from App S Bahauddin, in the presence of his Employing Trainer J Leck who is also the Trainer of PACIFIC SKY.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey App S Bahauddin was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that he failed to ride PACIFIC SKY with the required vigour and determination in the straight despite having the opportunity to do so.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Bahauddin’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 27 October 2025 and to expire on 26 December 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
