GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
INQUIRY CONCERNING URINE SAMPLE CODED “J-5148” WHICH WAS TAKEN ON SUNDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER 2025 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2025, WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “METHAMPHETAMINE & KETAMINE”, WHICH ARE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES IN TERMS OF THE MRA RULES
The Stewards conducted an Inquiry on Thursday, 20 November 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, into the above matter. Evidence was taken from Jockey AK Lim, from whom the sample was taken.
After considering the currently implemented “Methamphetamine” threshold and the minuscule portion of the concentration found in the sample for Jockey AK Lim, the Panel has decided not to take this matter further.
However, Jockey AK Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) as he provided a sample of urine at the Selangor Turf Club on 14 September 2025 which disclosed, upon analysis, the presence of “Ketamine”, which is a prohibited substance.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s guilty plea, the nature of the substance, mitigating factors, and his submissions on penalty. Jockey AK Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) months, backdated from 23 September 2025 and to expire on 22 September 2026, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Additionally, Jockey AK Lim was advised that should he wish to apply for a licence again with the Club, he would be required to provide a clearing sample.
