KIM POLO (CK Khaw) |
Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung in in the straight. |
Jockey Troy See (COOL SIXTY-ONE) appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding his ride on the gelding. In this regard, he explained that COOL SIXTY-ONE was hanging in in the straight, proving difficult to assist. He was of the view that the horse’s behavior resulted in it being unable to be fully tested in the straight and caused him to drop his right side rein briefly in the concluding stages. His explanation was noted. Trainer will be requested to take all reasonable measures to correct this horse’s behavior.
Trainer SY Lim was questioned regarding the performance of IRON SAMURAI, in particular its removal of tongue-tie in this race, as this gelding had an epiglottic entrapment surgery in January and the gelding had shown better form after the surgery when racing equipped with tongue-tie. In this regard, he explained that the horse raced with tongue-tie in its previous starts but its performance was below expectations. For today’s race, the tongue-tie was removed to test whether this will improve the horse’s performance. However, the horse again failed to perform as anticipated. The Trainer added that in future, he will reapply the use of tongue-tie on this gelding. His explanation was noted.
Jockey R Nuqman (IRON SAMURAI) was questioned regarding his tactics on this gelding, in particular to whether he could lead this race. He explained that after having a fair jump, his horse did not show the pace he anticipated despite being urged. When questioned further regarding the incident at the 800M, he explained that his horse felt erratic in the run and showed a tendency to lay out. This was further compounded when the horse racing ahead of him at the 800M, eased sharply causing him to have to steady and race onto heels. His explanation was noted.
Jockey R Woodworth (SURREY HILLS) appeared before the Panel and was questioned why he had to steady at the 800M. In this regard, he explained that the gelding was hanging out from the start, however, through corrective measures, he was able to mitigate the behaviour. Furthermore, he explained that approaching the 800M, PACIFIC WARLORD, which was racing to his outside, showed a tendency to lay in and with his mount inclined to lay out onto heels, he elected to ease.
App PH Seow (PACIFIC WARLORD) appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding statements of Jockey R Woodworth. In this regard, she explained that she was aware that SURREY HILLS was racing on her inside when approaching the 800M, and that she had maintained her racing line throughout.
The Panel noted all explanations.
