Jockey HS Gill (FORTUNE WHEEL) appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding whether he could have been very pro-active in securing forward position after jumping first. In this regard, he explained that after jumping well, he did squeeze his mount on at least 2 occasions to holding its position, however over this shorter distance, his mount was unable to muster sufficient speed to lay up with the pacemakers. He further explained that his positioning was again compromised when he was squeezed at the 800M. Additionally, in the concluding stages, he was struck by a loose clod which impeded him from riding his mount until the end of the race.

Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Saddle slipped in the straight which resulted in Apprentice losing his iron, becoming severely unbalanced and dislodged after the winning post.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App J Ikram, the rider of SUPER POSH, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, S Hamilton, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SUPER POSH, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BANKER’S NATURAL and KIM BELLA shortly after the start.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App J Ikram’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 12 October 2025 and to expire on 25 October 2025, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Y Aify, the rider of BOSS BABY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BOSS BAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HURRICANE at the 900M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Y Aify’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 29 September 2025 and to expire on 4 October 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1500/- . He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In this regard, he explained that he was instructed to sit as handy as possible based on the horse’s jump from the gate, however, the gelding showed more speed than the other runners in the field, therefore he elected to seize the opportunity to lead the race. His explanation was noted.

In the concluding stages, STRONG WHITE which had established its racing line, one-off the inside, was carried in by SMART LIKE JASON which shifted in. As the consequence of this incident, STRONG WHITE became awkwardly placed on heels, had to ease and subsequently shift out for a clear run.

A Member of the Stipendiary Panel lodged an objection on behalf of STRONG WHITE (Y Aify), placed third, against SMART LIKE JASON (App PH Seow), placed second, on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages.

Trainer J Ong was contacted regarding appearing before the Panel for this objection, however, he advised that he had already left the course and was satisfied to be represented by his Apprentice, PH Seow, in this matter. .

After considering the evidence in this matter which included that STRONG WHITE had secured its run, SMART LIKE JASON had clearly carried STRONG WHITE of its racing line, the extent of the interference and the margin (short-head) between horses at the finish,

the Panel upheld the objection and amended the placing to:

2nd – STRONG WHITE (Y Aify)

3rd – SMART LIKE JASON (App PH Seow)

4th – FLAMING PHOENIX (F Yusoff)
