RACE 1 (R605) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

MY TOUCH (J Shankar) stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again.

MYSTIC WARRIOR (App A Zaimuddin) jumped away awkwardly and threw its head up in the early stages.

VALENTINE BABY (M Zairi) shifted out on jumping away and brushed MYSTIC WARRIOR which had jumped away awkwardly and got its head up in the air.

TRUE HERITAGE (App KC Wong) shifted in shortly after the start and brushed LAZAROO (R Woodworth) which in turn brushed VAGABOND (J Low).

LITTLE JUMBO (F Yap) shifted in slightly approaching the 1000M resulting in DUBLEO BEAUTY (S Sandana) and TRUE HERITAGE being taken in and TRUE HERITAGE losing its position.

DUBLEO BEAUTY shifted in approaching the 800M resulting in LITTLE JUMBO having to be steadied.

RACE 2 (R606) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

The saddle on SPARKLER (SS Vanan) was readjusted behind the barrier.

SPARKLER brushed the outside of the barrier on jumping away.

ARLO (S Ruzaini) threw its head up on jumping away and was awkward to begin.

FLYING HORSE (R Woodworth) raced fiercely approaching the 1000M and shifted out resulting in ESPERANZA (J Low) having to be checked and shifted out, making contact with KING OF SEAL (App A Zaimuddin). FLYING HORSE continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter.

ESPERANZA rolled in racing to the 800M resulting in ARLO being steadied.

MR EPIC (S Ruzaini) was checked shortly after the start when DELTA WING (App KC Wong) shifted in and at the same time, RISE UP THE RANK (App L De Souza) rolled out.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Shankar, the rider of DIRAC, in respect of the gelding’s performance and adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.

GERMANIC (HS Gill) jumped in at the start and bumped ARC CARA (M Ganeesh).

JERAM VILLAGE (App KP Lim) raced wide from the 800M and into the straight.

The Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding of ARC CARA and took evidence from Jockey M Ganeesh who explained that his instruction was to lead. The Stewards also questioned Trainer S Dunderdale who confirmed the instruction. Jockey M Ganeesh and Trainer S Dunderdale were both shown the films and the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 (R610) CLASS 4 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

When racing inside the 400M, SPIN FIRE (L Sofhan) was held up for clear running until approaching the 200M.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L Sofhan, the rider of SPIN FIRE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out approaching the 200M when being ridden with the whip in his left hand resulting in

BIRRALEE ROAD (HS Gill) to be checked and he continued to shift out under the whip riding, bumping VALUE OF JUSTICE (S Ruzaini) on 2 occasions at the 100M. He then continued to shift out and again bumped VALUE OF JUSTICE at the 50M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L Sofhan’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 15 May 2017 and to expire on 21 May 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:40pm).

FORTUNIQUE laid in passing the 400M, obliging Jockey M Ganeesh to stop riding and change his whip to the left hand.

RACE 8 (R612) CLASS 4 – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

WENONA’S LEGACY (App KC Wong) was slow to begin.

FAST RICH (App KP Lim) laid in when being ridden with the whip from the 400M until the 150M when App KP Lim had to stop riding and straighten the gelding, and came out across the heels of ELEGENT (SS Vanan) to obtain a clear run. The Stewards will show App KP Lim and his Master, Trainer PS Kumaran, the video of his ride in this race at a date to be fixed.

RACE 9 (R613) CLASS 5 – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

AGUERO (S Sandana) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon at the request of Jockey S Sandana and passed fit to race.

Shortly after the start, JUST VITAL (App KP Lim) bumped CHATEAUNEUF DUPAPE (App L De Souza) onto PERFECT FIXER (J Low) and as a result, JUST VITAL lost its position.

FLAMING FIREHEART (C Goon) which was beaten 27 1/2 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Sandana, the rider of AGUERO, into the reasons why he came wider and continued to shift ground inwards when riding with the whip until about the 50M when his mount continued to shift in and inconvenienced PERFECT FIXER (J Low). Jockey S Sandana was shown the films of the incident and warned that he must stop riding and straighten his mount.

The Stewards will question App KP Lim, the rider of JUST VITAL, as to why he failed to improve from the 800M until entering the straight.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of SUPER EIGHTYTHREE, reported that his saddle slipped backwards and as a result, he raced wide throughout the race.

The Stewards, after reviewing the films of the above race, warned Jockey G Pereira, the rider of FLYING NEKO, that in future he would be expected to ride his horses out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards in accordance with MRA Rule 44(6).

ECLIPSE STAR (S Ruzaini) stumbled on jumping away.

BARKER ROAD KID (App CK Khaw) jumped in at the start and bumped CHASE THE DREAM (S Anandan) which brushed SEMIFREDDO (S Muniandy).

SPIRIT OF SPEED (M Zairi) checked to avoid the heels of SEMIFREDDO at the 1000M.

BARKER ROAD KID shifted in causing SEMIFREDDO to be steady at the 1000M. App KC Khaw was shown the vision in the presence of his Master Trainer R Lines and told to exercise greater care in future.

Jockey S Sandana (DEKATI) was questioned why he stopped riding for a few strides at the 150M and advised to ride his mounts as to leave no room for query.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of ITS ONLY MONEY, into his ride on the gelding. Jockey S Ruzaini explained that after the slow jump and was wide from the 800M until entering the straight and when placed under the whip responded only fairly to his riding. The Stewards, after viewing the vision of the race, warned Jockey S Ruzaini to ride all his mounts in a manner as to leave no room for query.

Running to 800M, POKEMON BABY (App AK Lim) became unbalance for a short distance when racing inside of SANDY’S PRIDE.

GASSUR (S Salee) raced greenly at 800M.

Racing to 600M, THE OMEGA MAN (App CK Khaw) shifted out to avoid the heels TIDAL WAVE (S Ruzaini) and TAFFETAS (G Pereira) was steadied and taken wider had to check to avoid heels of RIGHTEO (J Shankar).

All riders returned to scale an average of 1 1/2kgs overweight due to the adverse weather conditions

The State of Track was downgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.

ENCOSTA ZONE (S Ruzaini) slow to begin.

TAKEAIM (App A Zaimuddin) had to steady off the heels of LOVE GOES AROUND (M Zairi) at the 1100M and shifted out and brushed REMEMBER ME (App AK Lim).

TAKEAIM raced ungenerously when in restricted galloping room at the 1000M.

BLOSSOMS SEQUEL (App L De Souza) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

TAKEAIM had to be steadied to avoid the heels of REMEMBER ME at the 700M.

 

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 2 (R799) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 24 JUNE 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017

The Stewards, on 25 June 2017 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into Jockey C Goon’s ride on BAIL OUT in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey C Goon and Trainer F Maynard, the rider and Trainer of BAIL OUT respectively.

Trainer F Maynard’s evidence was noted.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, after reviewing the vision of the race and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey C Goon was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that the Stewards were not satisfied as to the reasons he lost the use of the near side (left) stirrup iron and the Stewards were not satisfied that he made sufficient effort to get his foot back in the stirrup iron in the final 300M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey C Goon’s, mitigating factors, previous good riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from 26 June 2017 and to expire on 25 October 2017, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM20,000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal (12.10pm)

Jockey C Goon (BAIL OUT) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of 4 months and fine of RM20,000/- will be held at a date to be fixed.

Jockey J Low (BUZZ MAN) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of 2 months and fine of RM5,000/- will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 (R803) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A) –KENILWORTH CUP, SATURDAY, 24 JUNE 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017

The Stewards questioned App P Haris, the rider of PROHIBITION, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim, into his ride on the gelding in the straight.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, after reviewing the vision of the race and considering the evidence tendered, App P Haris pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that the Stewards were not satisfied with his vigour in the straight and why he stopped riding the gelding on several occasions.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App P Haris’s, mitigating factors, previous good riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 26 June 2017 and to expire on 25 September 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12.40pm).

RACE 2 (R772) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE C), SATURDAY, 17 JUNE 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2017

After consideration, the Stewards acceded to a request for Jockey SS Vanan’s to defer his suspension from riding in the races. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey SS Vanan’s suspension riding in the races to commence on 03 July 2017 and to expire on 02 September 2017.

GENERAL REPORT – PNTC, 25TH JUNE 2017

The report dated 23rd June 2017 (V17/067) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 58 coded urine and 60 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 13th June 2017, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “09079” and “09102” both of which revealed the presence of “Naproxen”. After decoding these sample numbers, it was established that sample coded “09079” was reported to have been taken from the horse “GOOD MUMMY” which ran 3rd in Race 5, and sample coded “09102” was reported to have been taken from the horse “ELF’S DREAM” which finished unplaced in the same race, on 10th June 2017, at the Penang Turf Club June Meeting 2017.

In addition, on 23rd June 2017, Trainer R Lines, the trainer of both GOOD MUMMY and ELF’S DREAM, was advised of the contents of this report and his attention drawn to MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 regarding the Referee Samples. Trainer R Lines was also advised that both GOOD MUMMY and ELF’S DREAM cannot be entered to race until cleared by the PNTC Stipendiary Stewards under MRA Rule 134(12).

An Inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.
