RACE 11 (R670)       CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M (LONG COURSE)

When the start was effected, READY TO SEVENLUCK (KC Wong) jumped very awkwardly and refused to race, veering outwards. Before the “All Clear” was given, the Starter and Jockey KC Wong reviewed the film and it was ascertained that READY TO SEVENLUCK was unruly in the stalls and the Starter had effected the start when the gelding had straightened. In light of this, the Stewards ruled that READY TO SEVENLUCK will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.

READY TO SEVENLUCK raced erratically in the straight.

An inquiry will be conducted into riding tactics adopted on JUBILATION (App A Suriya), NEW SENSATION (J Shankar), COME AND TAKE ALL (HS Gill) AND ARECIBO (App CC Foo) related to them being in a rearward division in the middle stages of the race.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

INQUIRY INTO REPORTS RELATING TO PRE AND POST-RACE BLOOD SAMPLES CODED “215393” AND “29605” RESPECTIVELY, WHICH WERE TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “LIM’S SWIFT” WHICH WAS WITHDRAWN FROM RACE 10 (R491) ON SUNDAY, 2 AUGUST 2020 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST SPECIAL MEETING 2020, AND THE SAMPLE WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “CAFFEINE”.

The Stewards, on 3 September 2020 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into the analyst’s reports that pre-race and post-race samples taken from LIM’S SWIFT (H148) when presented to race in the above race contained “caffeine”.

Evidence was taken from the trainer of LIM’S SWIFT, Trainer BT Lim, SLTC Chief Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Shri Kanth and Usains Biomics Chief Analyst, Dr Chan Sue Hay. Analytical reports were also considered related to random feedstuff aliquots taken from Trainer BT Lim’s stables which were found to contain caffeine and its metabolite theobromine.

Trainer BT Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA 134(6) with having accepted LIM’S SWIFT to race in Race 10 on Sunday, 2 August 2020 at the Selangor Turf Club August Special Meeting 2020, the pre and impound samples having had detected in them “caffeine”.

In assessing a penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that they were satisfied the detection was a result of contamination and that LIM’S SWIFT had been withdrawn before racing. Taking into consideration Trainer BT Lim’s plea of guilty and prior record, the Stewards imposed a fine of RM4000/-. Trainer BT Lim was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:20pm).

The Stewards, on 14 August 2020, concluded an inquiry into the reason for newly registered Track Rider Fandi Bin Ahmad riding LISTEN (J412) on the main grass during trackwork on the above date.

After taking evidence from Trainer MW Teh and Track Rider Fandi Bin Ahmad, the Stewards were satisfied that a mistake had been made by Track Rider Fandi when entering the main grass on LISTEN, whilst only walking.

Trainer MW Teh was advised that he should, at all times, supervise and give proper directions to all his staff.

TUESDAY, 18 AUGUST 2020, SLTC TRACKWORK

App S Zulfikri was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 41(4)(b) for presenting to ride trackwork without wearing an approved body protector.

MARINE TREASURE was impeded in the straight and had to be taken wide to obtain a clear passage. Jockey R Rueven, the rider of AFFLECK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in shortly after the start, carrying DINTINCTIVE DARCI (App L De Souza) inwards which caused MARINE TREASURE (App M Akmazani) and D’GREAT CONQUEROR (AK Lim) to be tightened and lose ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Rueven’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 August 2020 and to expire on 16 August 2020, both dates inclusive. GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 7 (R479) CLASS 4 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE), SATURDAY, 1 AUGUST 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST SPECIAL MEETING 2020

The Stewards questioned App A Zaimuddin (SHELLOMADA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer BT Lim who is also the Trainer of SHELLOMADA, regarding his whip use on that gelding. Trainer BT Lim put forward that App A Zaimuddin had not ridden for a considerable period and as he had been subject to some previous training, he attempted to change his whip riding style during this period. As such, he was of the opinion that App A Zaimuddin, although trying to ride to his best, had not yet perfected the different style.

Whilst the Stewards accepted this in part, they referred App A Zaimuddin for specific whip related training and advised that he must ride every horse in a manner so as to leave no doubt as to his proper purpose.

 RACE 6 (R478)         CLASS 4 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE)

After being loaded, MAYBE (J Shankar) kicked out in the stalls and was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who passed the gelding fit to race. MAYBE was slow to begin.

MAZANZE (S Salee) raced wide throughout.

At the 400M, App M Lukman (YULONG HONOR) dropped his whip after he accidentally struck the saddle cloth of MAZANZE.

NEVERTHELESS (AK Lim) dipped at the winning post. Jockey AK Lim was questioned regarding his riding of NEVERTHELESS. He stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding sparingly with the whip as it was inclined to race reluctantly. He was also of the opinion that NEVERTHELESS was reluctant to take the run and he had ridden the mare with a good contact. Whilst accepting this in part, the Stewards advised Jockey AK Lim that he must ride every horse so as to confirm that he had ridden in a positive manner.

 RACE 7 (R479)         CLASS 4 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE)

MURDOCH (J Low) raced wide in the middle stages.

JJ STAR (Z Zuriman) raced wide in the middle stages. Jockey Z Zuriman (JJ STAR) was questioned as to the reason he had ridden in this manner, by being four-wide in the leading division for the entire race. He could offer no explanation other than that he did not wish to be blocked. In considering the issue, the Stewards was satisfied that they could substantiate a charge in terms of the rule, however, Jockey Z Zuriman was reprimanded for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards and advised that he is expected to ride diligently in every race.

A post-race veterinary examination of HAPPY BUFFALO (C Goon) revealed that the gelding bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

App A Zaimuddin (SHELLOMADA) will be interviewed regarding his whip use on that gelding.

RACE 9 (R481)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE)

E SUPREME (App AR Aiman) veered outwards at the start, bumping LIGHTNING HERO (App N Varmah), inconveniencing NOVA SPIRIT (S Ruzaini) which lost ground.

SNAGGLE PUSS (AK Lim) brushed the gates on jumping.

In the early stages, BLUE EYED BOY (R Shafiq) raced wide.

At the 400M, BERLINETTA (KC Wong) rolled in, crowding E SUPREME. Shortly after this, BERLINETTA, when making ground, had to be steadied when racing onto the heels of the tiring BLUE EYED BOY. Jockey KC Wong, when questioned, advised that he was attempting a run between BLUE EYED BOY when COLCHESTER (App K Pavinthran) also rolled out. As a safety measure, he had steadied when striding onto the heels of BLUE EYED BOY.

ZILFIKAR (Y Aify) drifted out, finishing wide on the track over the final 200M.
