Good Fight (Super One – Bella Elegante)

GOOD FIGHT lived up to his name with a gutsy performance to win the Class 3 – 1400m handicap at Sungei Besi here today, thanks to a superb ride by Jose De Souza

It was the Brazilian’s only engagement for the day, bringing his tally to two wins and a second in three rides since returning to action on the local circuit last Saturday.

There was a keen tussle for the early lead and ZANJABEEL eventually took command on settling down with bunch of runners following closely behind, amongst them GOOD FIGHT.

SACRED GURU joined the leader in front at the halfway mark and led into the straight when ZANJABEEL came under pressure. GOOD FIGHT moved swiftly to challenge the new leader at the 400m and managed to surge to the front 250m out.

But SACRED GURU would not give up. He fought back and made it a close finish. GOOD FIGHT eventually held on to win by a neck.

“We thought GOOD FIGHT might find it hard with the topweight and wet track but he ploughed through it and showed his class,” said trainer Simon Dunderdale who has now won six races in 14 starts with the Australian gelding since crossing over from Singapore where he won one race in nine starts.

“It was a great effort from the horse despite the weight and the wet track,” said De Souza. (It rained during the previous two races).
