RACE 1 (R1236) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

NEW DAWN STAKES

Trainer S Siva was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of tongue-tie within the prescribed time.

NOVA EAGLE (S Ruzaini) was examined at the start and was passed fit to race.

LINING TOGETHER (App KC Wong) jumped outwards and BEST DREAM (A Aucharuz) jumped inwards causing PHANTASOS (SU Lim) to be crowded between them and to lose its position.

PERFECT RUN (App WW Cheah) jumped outwards causing SUPREME STAR (App WK Lee) to be taken outwards. At this point, App WK Lee had to ease and correct in order to avoid contact with SLING SHOT (L Sofhan).

At about the 1000M, PERFECT RUN was shifted inwards to obtain cover and ZHUHAI (App AM Aizat) shied away from PERFECT RUN and shifted abruptly inwards causing FLYING AHEAD (Y Aify) to be crowded against the rail and to lose his position. App WW Cheah, the rider of PERFECT RUN, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, was shown the vision of the incident and was warned by the Stewards that he must take more care when shifting inside in the early stages in future.

SUPREME STAR got its head up in the early stages and raced keenly while being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. App WK Lee reported that the gelding was difficult to settle and to control.

UNION JAC (HS Gill) persistently laid outwards in the middle stages and negotiated the bend with difficulty. The Stewards noted that UNION JAC had displayed similar tendencies in previous races. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

App AM Aizat reported that apart from the interference in the closing stages, he may have finished closer.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TOTALITY (S Sandana) returned cast its near hind shoe. An inquiry into the running and handling of TOTALITY will be held at a date to be fixed.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App W Faizal, the rider of HAPPY START, in the presence of his Master, Trainer L Moy, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his horse to drift persistently outwards in the straight causing TOTALITY (S Sandana)  and ZHUHAI (App AM Aizat) to be carried off their line, over a considerable distance of ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App W Faizal’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 15 October 2018 and to expire on 21 October 2018, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with his suspension yesterday. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (1:10pm).

RACE 2 (R1237) OPEN NOVICE – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

RULE OF LAW STAKES

D’GREAT PRIDE (HS Gill) which was difficult to be loaded, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 12:56pm. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again.

MR WASHINGTON (S Ruzaini) jumped outwards causing D’GREAT PERFECT (J Low) to be taken outwards onto DRAGON KINGDOM (App KC Wong) which was crowded to the inside of ENERGIZER (O Chavez), and became unbalanced.

YOU KNOW WHEN (SU Lim) jumped outwards and brushed with BACK TO THE TOWERS (S Anandan).

Approaching the 600M, NOVA PHOENIX (S Sandana) had to be checked when trying for a gap between YOU KNOW WHEN (SU Lim) on his outside and MR WASHINGTON on his inside.

LAW BY LAW (App A Zaimuddin) laid outwards in the straight and finished wide out. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again due to its difficult racing manners.

D’GREAT PERFECT which was beaten 17 ½ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 3 (R1238) OPEN NOVICE (SW) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

A NEW MALAYSIA STAKES

Trainer BT Lim was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on BIG DALLAS (HS Gill). 

WINTERFELL (App L De Souza) had to be strongly urged to obtain a midfield position.

LING CHONG (App W Faizal) was slow to find its stride.

JABBAR (App WK Lee) was slow to begin.

KING OPERA (S Ruzaini) laid outwards under pressure in the closing stages.

Jockey O Chavez, the rider of RUNNING FLAME, reported that the gelding showed itself to be green and temperamental in the early stages and as such was difficult to control. RUNNING FLAME will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again due to its difficult racing manners.

RACE 4 (R1239) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

KITAJO FARM TROPHY

TAUBOSS (C Goon) jumped inwards and brushed with RAINBOW FISH (App L De Souza). Thereafter TAUBOSS was slow to find its stride and showed no pace in the early stages.

THANK YOU BOSS (A Aucharuz) laid outwards under pressure in the closing stages.

BROTHER WIND (R Rueven) which was drawn outside, raced wide throughout.

Jockey J Low, the rider of SACRED SURFER, reported that having allowed THANK YOU BOSS to cross him and to take the lead, SACRED SURFER commenced to over-race and therefore he shifted outwards in order to allow his mount to stride on.

RACE 5 (R1240) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

THE ROYAL BANGKOK SPORTS CLUB TROPHY

GARIZA (O Chavez) turned outwards at the jump and shifted abruptly outwards causing CONDADO (App CK Khaw) to be heavily bumped. When questioned, Jockey O Chavez, the rider of GARIZA, stated that his mount had given him no warning and that thus he was unable to prevent the shift. After reviewing the vision of this incident, it was established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.

OUT OF NOWHERE (A Aucharuz) was slow to find its stride.

CONDADO lost its position in the early stages, having been bumped.

BLACK THORN (C Goon) laid outwards in the early stages causing D’BUFFALO MAN (S Anandan) to be taken wide.

METALLOCENE (S Sandana) which was reported by Jockey S Sandana to be racing keenly in the early stages, was crowded between PANDA BOMB (SU Lim) on the outside and GARIZA on his inside approaching the 1000M, and had to race in restricted room until about the 900M.

At about the 900M, Jockey O Chavez, the rider of GARIZA, took a precautionary check and eased back, causing OK KID (App AM Aizat), which was following, to ease back in response.

D’GREAT EMINENCE (App KC Wong) laid outwards approaching the 600M.

Approaching the 200M, EL CONDOR (J Low) shifted slightly outwards away from the whip causing GARIZA to be shifted outwards in response, and D’GREAT EMINENCE to be eased in order to avoid the heels of GARIZA. After reviewing the vision of this incident, it was established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.

Approaching the 100M, EL CONDOR was eased and shifted inwards when COMMANDO ECLIPSE (R Rueven) laid outwards.

In the closing stages, COMMANDO ECLIPSE was taken outwards by PANDA BOMB which laid outwards under pressure. Jockey R Rueven reported that having been taken out, he had to ease to avoid the heels of SPLENDOR (App W Faizal) which was on his outside. Jockey SU Lim, the rider of PANDA BOMB, was shown the vision of the incident and warned to take all possible measures to keep his mount straight in the closing stages in future.

RACE 6 (R1241) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

SUNGEI BESI AUTOWORLD CUP

Trainer C Leck was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on TH MAXIMS (App KC Wong).   

DANZEB (O Chavez) jumped slightly outwards causing RAJA MAHKOTA (S Anandan) to be taken outwards and BIG BANK (App AM Aizat) to be crowded briefly between RAJA MAHKOTA and D’GREAT SONG (App L De Souza).

AUDACIOUS (App A Zaimuddin) stumbled leaving the barrier and soon afterwards, was crowded when ROC THAT (L Sofhan) laid inwards. Thereafter AUDACIOUS was urged to hold his position and raced greenly causing DANZEB to be bumped on his outside at about the 1100M.

DANZEB, which was bumped by AUDACIOUS at about the 1100M was then buffeted and became unbalanced between AUDACIOUS and BURN NOTICE (HS Gill), and had to be sharply checked and corrected.

BURN NOTICE (HS Gill) laid outwards in the early stages.

AUDACIOUS laid outwards in the middle stages and negotiated the bend with difficulty. At about the 500M, AUDACIOUS had to be eased to avoid contact with BURN NOTICE on his outside.

Approaching the 300M, AUDACIOUS was disappointed for a run on the heels of STREET OF LONDON (A Aucharuz) and had to be shifted abruptly outwards to obtain a clear passage between STREET OF LONDON and BURN NOTICE.

RACE 7 (R1242) METRO A – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

MACAU JOCKEY CLUB GOODWILL CUP

TAFFETAS (App L De Souza) was slow to find its stride.

At about the 1100M, ROSELLI (A Aucharuz), which was momentarily crowded between TIDAL WAVE (J De Souza) and THESE STREETS (L Sofhan) raced awkwardly for a few strides, and lost his position.

NOVA FALCON (SU Lim) which was shifted inwards in the early stages to take the rail, continued to lay inwards and brushed the rail at about the 1000M.

At about the 1000M, BRAHMA CIRCUS (S Ruzaini) laid inwards briefly causing AUD DOLLAR (C Goon) to be momentarily checked.

VERBAL LINK (S Salee) was shifted outwards to obtain a clear run and to avoid the heels of NOVA FALCON at about the 400M, and thereafter displayed a tendency to lay outwards under pressure.

At the 200M, LIM’S CASINO (Y Aify) shifted inwards under pressure causing SATELLITE BOY (J Mallyon) to be eased to avoid his heels.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Y Aify, the rider of LIM’S CASINO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his horse to shift inwards away from the whip when not clear of SATELLITE BOY.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Y Aify’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 8 October 2018 and to expire on 14 October 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:05pm).

When questioned regarding the improved performance of THESE STREETS (L Sofhan), Trainer S Siva stated that the gelding had benefitted from a 4-week break between its previous start and this run. He added that he had used massage to improve the condition of THESE STREETS which has a history of muscular problems. He further explained that in his opinion, the primary factor into the horse’s improvement today was the very strong pace of the race which benefitted horses held up at the rear of the field.

BOUNCING BACK STAKES

REAL MEAN (App CK Khaw) jumped awkwardly inwards and was slow to find its stride.

PUTMONEY TAKEMONEY (SU Lim) jumped inwards and brushed with LIM’S BATTLE (HS Gill).

NEVERSAYNEVER (A Aucharuz) was observed to be over-racing in the early stages.

At about the 400M, PALTROW (C Goon) rolled slightly outwards and at this point, HAPPY SIXTYSIX (App KC Wong) was shifted outwards to obtain clear running on the outside of PALTROW.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App KC Wong, the rider of HAPPY SIXTYSIX, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 400M, he shifted outwards when not clear of PUTMONEY TAKEMONEY (SU Lim) which had to be checked.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App KC Wong’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 15 October 2018 and to expire on 21 October 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:10pm).

Approaching the 200M, HAPPY SIXTYSIX laid outwards under pressure and had to be eased and corrected to avoid contact with NEVERSAYNEVER.

In the closing stages, REAL MEAN was shifted inwards and then outwards to obtain clear running.

In the last strides, PALTROW rolled inwards under pressure causing App W Faizal, the rider of GREENSTONE, to take a precautionary check very close to the line.

RACE 9 (R1244) M’SIA GROUP 1 – 2000M (LONG COURSE A)

2018 TRIPLE CROWN SERIES – 3RD LEG

Trainer S Dunderdale made an application to the Stewards for permission for FIRST PRECINCT to be declared with Blinkers when it had raced without them on the previous weekend. He explained why he believed the circumstances to be exceptional and his application was allowed.

D’GREAT TIMING (Y Aify) jumped outwards causing MR ARMSTRONG (L Sofhan) to be crowded between D’GREAT TIMING and READY TO ROCK (J De Souza). MR ARMSTRONG lost its position in the early stages as a result.

FIRST PRECINCT (J Low) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1800M, GASSUR (S Sandana) shifted inwards causing TRUSON (J Mallyon) to be briefly checked. Thereafter GASSUR commenced to over-race and was taken to the outside approaching the 1600M.

STICK SEEKER (A Aucharuz) laid inwards after the jump, and brushed the rail in the early stages. At about the 1400M, STICK SEEKER commenced to over-race, and shortly afterwards, laid outwards with its head up causing SUNNY (S Anandan) and SHELLOMADA (HS Gill) to be shifted slightly outwards in response. STICK SEEKER continued to over-race in the middle stages.

At about the 500M, STICK SEEKER rolled outwards when the rider attempted to take a gap between ORDER OF THE SUN (S Ruzaini) and D’GREAT TIMING (Y Aify), and had to be eased and corrected.

At about the 500M, SHELLOMADA was disappointed for a run on the heels of TRUSON and had to be switched wide out to obtain clear running.

At about the 150M, D’GREAT TIMING (Y Aify) shifted inwards under pressure causing ORDER OF THE SUN to be angled inwards in response in order to obtain clear running on the inside of D’GREAT TIMING.

An objection was lodged by App KC Wong, the trainer of RISING GLORY (App KC Wong), placed second, against READY TO ROCK (J De Souza), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference at about the 50M mark. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J De Souza, the rider of READY TO ROCK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that from approaching the 100M, he allowed his horse to shift inwards under a right-handed drive causing him to bump with RISING GLORY.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty.

Bearing in mind that all riders including Jockey J De Souza, had attended a briefing the previous day in which they were advised that any interference in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor race would incur stronger penalties, he was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 8 October 2018 and to expire on 20 October 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:25pm).

RACE 10 (R1245) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

A NEW BEGINNING STAKES

NOVA SPIRIT (SU Lim) was slow to begin.

JJ STAR (App KC Wong) showed no pace in the early stages despite being urged. App KC Wong reported after the race that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JJ STAR revealed no significant finding. JJ STAR, which was distanced, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

At about the 300M, PROHIBITION (HS Gill) laid in slightly under pressure, and NOVA LEGEND (S Sandana) which was following, was forced to ease and shifted outwards to avoid the heels of PROHIBITION.

In the last 200M, ZAC BENEVOLENT (App WK Lee) laid outwards under pressure.

In the closing stages, COMMODORE LINCOLN (S Ruzaini) laid inwards under pressure and brushed the rail in the last strides.

FOURVIERE (A Aucharuz) which was distanced, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

Jockey S Sandana, the rider of NOVA LEGEND, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of NOVA LEGEND revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockey C Goon, the rider of ELITE KINGDOM, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ELITE KINGDOM revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

BETTER THAN BEFORE STAKES

This race was rescheduled to start at 6:10pm.

RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN (J Mallyon) which was restless in the barrier, jumped awkwardly inwards and brushed the side of the gate. As a consequence, RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN was slow to begin.

MY GOODNESS (App WK Lee) laid outwards shortly after the jump.

LUCKY VICTORY (J Low) laid outwards in the middle stages and negotiated the bend with difficulty. Jockey J Low reported that the horse raced greenly throughout.

Approaching the 200M, MAGIC RANGER (HS Gill) which was racing in close quarters with BRILLIANT STAR (A Aucharuz), was distracted by Jockey A Aucharuz’s whip.

ADDENDUM

RACE 4 (R1229) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), PENANG TURF CLUB TROPHY, SATURDAY, 6 OCTOBER 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2018

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of D’GREAT SPIRIT, was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 121(1) for failing to obey the provisions of this rule in that he did not immediately dismount and weigh in after pulling up and returning his horse to the winning enclosure, but instead posed for photographs.

AMENDMENT

RACE 9 (R1234) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 6 OCTOBER 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2018

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SIR HENRY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 100M, he allowed his horse to shift inwards away from a right-handed drive causing interference firstly to ACME and then to SALAHADDIN.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Sandana’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 15 October 2018 and to expire on 27 October 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:05pm).


THURSDAY, 4 OCTOBER 2018, SLTC

Trainer S Siva was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Regulation 17 in that as the receiving Trainer, he was the person responsible for the lodgement of the Transfer Form when I AM THE BOSS (E539) arrived into his stable but the said form was never lodged.

Jockey O Chavez was reminded by the Stewards that it is his responsibility to obtain a clearance after he rides in another racing jurisdiction and that he must personally be responsible to ensure that the clearance be handed over to the Stewards within the stipulated time.


RACE 1 (R1226) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE B), SATURDAY, 6 OCTOBER 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2018

When questioned regarding the poor performance of SNOW DANCER (SU Lim), Trainer F Maynard stated that in his opinion, the gelding has only limited ability.

Trainer F Maynard had been questioned regarding the improved performance of SNOW DANCER after its last start on 22 September 2018 in Penang. His explanations were noted and he was advised regarding of the rules regarding “in and out” running [MRA Rule 117(3)].

After the poor performance of SNOW DANCER today, the Stewards found the gelding’s performances to be inconsistent and unreliable and it was therefore suspended from racing for one (1) month (7 October until 6 November 2018). SNOW DANCER will also be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Stewards informed Trainer F Maynard that they had taken into consideration his evidence, and the post-race veterinary report of SNOW DANCER which revealed no significant finding. They also viewed recordings of SNOW DANCER’s two (2) previous races.
