RACE 1 (R022)           CLASS 5(B) – 1600m (lc)     PROSPERITY AND WEALTH HANDICAP

TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

At approximately the 1400M-mark, FIRST SUCCESS (M Ewe) steadied momentarily in a tightly-bunched field.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LITTLE MASTER (Y Aify) revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and FIRST SUCCESS revealed no obvious abnormality.   LITTLE MASTER will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned with regards to the improved performance of TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) today, Trainer K Coetzee explained that this horse had previously run in Penang and was not suited by the track there.  He was of the opinion that TAIWAN CAPTAIN runs its best race in Ipoh.   His explanation was noted.

BLUE EYED BOY (R Rueven) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

SING DARCI (HS Gill) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 700M-mark, FORTUNE SPIRIT (M Ewe) steadied when attempting to take a run on the inside of NAPOLEON (L De Souza).

Passing the 200M, TRINITY HONOR (SU Lim) shifted out from the whip.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SING DARCI and STAR CHOICE (KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality.

XENA (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, VIETNAM CAPTAIN (KP Lim) jumped awkwardly outwards and EXDREAM (SS Vanan) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in ARION STAR (SU Lim),  LIM’S DASHING (M Yusri), YOU ROKK (R Rueven) and GOOD MAN (M Ewe) being crowded.

At approximately the 1000M-mark, GOOD MAN ducked inwards sharply, striking the inside rails in an attempt to take the near bend.

RACE 4 (R025)         CLASS 4 (A)  -1100m (sc)    AUSPICIOUS START HANDICAP           

BLOOD ROYAL and GALILEO’S APPROACH both are course scratching. BLOOD ROYAL had sustained bruised off knee while GALILEO’S APPROACH had sustained sole bruise both fore.  Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

OCEAN LAW which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start

The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BALL AND CHAIN (R Rueven) at 3.16pm, acting on a report from the Club Veterinary Surgeon that the gelding was lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M & vet) before being declared to race again.

Rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. 

ROSES FOR ME (HS Gill) jumped awkwardly outwards, brushing the outside gate and thereafter, was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ZHU CAPTAIN (KP Lim) had bled and as such, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

ROSES FOR ME which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ROSES FOR ME revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R026)    CLASS 5(B) – 1100m (sc)     GALLOPING ONCE AGAIN HANDICAP 

MISS THYRA  which was down 22kgs and I AM MIDAS which was up 16kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

BAMSI BEY (SS Vanan) jumped awkwardly outwards, bumping KING FORCE (AK Lim) onto ARTEMISIA OF CARIA (KP Lim).

The saddle on ARTEMISIA OF CARIA slipped backwards during the running.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of TOP TURF reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of TOP TURF revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R027)    CLASS 5 (B) – 1100m (sc)  HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY HANDICAP       

Rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

Rounding the turn at approximately the 500M-mark, SUPER GREAT (KP Lim) commenced to give ground, resulting in TILSWORTH MALI (SU Lim) which was following, having to steady.

PROVOCATEUR (R Rueven) was obliged to race wide at the turn.

All riders returned an average of 1kg over.

A late veterinary examination of SUNTZU (M Yusri) requested by the Panel of Stewards, revealed that the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

An Inquiry into the running and handling of SUNTZU will be held tomorrow.

For information, the Senior Veterinary Surgeon of Perak Turf Club had reported that the following horses had undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital between 22nd November 2022 to 21st December 2022 and as such, will be required to pass a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again :-
