STEWARDS’ REPORT – PERAK OCTOBER MEETING 2021

DAY 2, SUNDAY – 31ST OCTOBER 2021

STATE OF TRACK: Races 1 to 4 – SOFT; Races 5 to 6 – YIELDING

RACE 1 (R849) CLASS 5(B) – 1400m (lc)  HOCUS POCUS HANDICAP

KEEN DRAGON and GOLDEN EMPIRE, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised near hind fetlock and corneal ulcer on its right eye respectively, each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

SANGKURIANG which was up 33kg in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SING DARCI (HS Gill) was slow to begin.

MAGICAL PARK (I Amirul) was slow into stride.

SING DARCI which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SING DARCI reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of SING DARCI revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey R Rueven, the rider of SUCCESS STREET, placed 2nd against THUNDERSTRUCK (KC Wong), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference at about the 250M to the 100M-mark.    After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race.  The objection was overruled and the results stood.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of SING DARCI with regards to the disappointing performance of SING DARCI.  He was unable to offer any explanations and confirmed that he was also very disappointed with the run.   Trainer K Coetzee was advised to report back to the Stewards should he finds anything amiss with SING DARCI during the week, which may have accounted for the run.   His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in-and-out running.

RACE 2 (R850)   CLASS 5(B) – 1400m (lc)   SLIMER HANDICAP

BALBOA and TAN’S LEGENDARY which were up 24kgs and 27kgs in body weight respectively while EMPIRE BAY was down 19kgs in body weight  since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

MY FIRST MILLION which was fractious in the barrier, jumped extremely awkwardly and was slow to begin.   In this incident, Jockey HK Cheng struck his head on the top of the barrier.  MY FIRST MILLION will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SECOND CHANCE (App S Hafis), LIM’S LEADER (HS Gill), NAPOLEON (S Saddam) and INDOMITABLE SPEED (App I Firdzriel) were slow into stride.

ROCK ME EASY (S Muniandy) hung out at the later stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of INDOMITABLE SPEED revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BALBOA (App R Lingarajan) returned having cast its off hind plate.

App S Hafis who rode his 40th winner on SECOND CHANCE and hence, he will be entitled to claim 2kgs with effect from Monday, 1st November 2021.

RACE 3 (R851)  CLASS 5(A) – 1400m (lc)     GHOSTBUSTERS HANDICAP

SUPREME JUSTICE, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore pastern, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

IPOH DASH which was up 16kgs body weight and MY FRIENDS was down 25kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

MY FRIENDS (R Rueven) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

IPOH DASH (App S Hafis) which cast its near fore plate behind the barriers, had to be re-shod, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

SONNY BILL (S Muniandy) and GET THE LOTSKI (M Yusri) were slow into stride.

SONNY BILL was difficult to settle and was pulling hard in the early stages.

The saddle on SONNY BILL slipped backwards during the running of the race and this was confirmed by the Stewards.

MY FRIENDS which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey S Muniandy, the rider of SONNY BILL reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of SONNY BILL revealed no obvious abnormality.   

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey S Muniandy, the rider of SONNY BILL and Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of SONNY BILL with regards to the performance of SONNY BILL.   Jockey S Muniandy explained that the gelding was pulling hard and was very difficult to settle and approaching the 800M, he shifted out to avoid the heels of runners in front of him.  Trainer K Coetzee was of the opinion that the 1400M today was possibly too short and he undertook to race this gelding over more ground in future.   The Panel of Stewards were not entirely satisfied with their explanations but took no further action.

BALL AND CHAIN and FRANKLY MY DEAR, both course scratching as they had sustained bruised off hind fetlock and bruised off fore fetlock respectively, each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

Acting on Veterinary advised that NATUREISSPEAKING had sustained a cut to its tongue, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.00pm and the gelding will be required to pass veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

MICHAELEARNSTOROCK which was up 25kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

FLYING EBONY (App A Saran) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

YOU ARE GENIUS (R Rueven) which was pulling hard, was obliged to race wide on the turn.

FLYING EBONY which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The state was upgraded to ‘Yielding’ after the running of this race.

RACE 5 (R853)    CLASS 5(A) – 1200M(sc) WITCHES & WARLOCKS HANDICAP

SILENT BOSS which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

LUCKY GIANT (AK Lim) was slow into stride.

POWER EXPRESS (M Yusri) lugged out on jumping, inconveniencing THAI BAHT (App S Hafis).

The saddle on POWER EXPRESS slipped backwards during the running of the race and this was confirmed by the Stewards.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of DON’T FORGET THIS reported that the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the race.   A post-race veterinary examination of DON’T FORGET THIS which was impounded, revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer PK Leong and Jockey HS Gill, the trainer of and the rider of DON’T FORGET THIS respectively with regards to the disappointing performance today, as compared to its run last week on 23rd October 2021 when it won the race.  Jockey HS Gill stated that after jumping well, the gelding had no early pace and compounded in the straight.  Trainer PK Leong was unable to offer any explanations.   DON’T FORGET THIS will now be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

DISCRETELY RED, PLACE YOUR BET and FAST AND SUPER, all course scratching as they had sustained sore back, bruised off fore fetlock and bruised off hind cannon respectively, each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

SPLENDOR and YES BOSSY which were up 16kgs and 17kgs respectively in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

SPLENDOR (S Muniandy) and PALTROW (App S Hafis) were slow into stride.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of YES BOSSY reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of YES BOSSY revealed no obvious abnormality. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that EASY SOUTH EAST (M Yusri) returned with severe heat stress and was administered an emergency treatment.  

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer PK Leong, the trainer of CROWN STAR with regards to its improved performance today.  Trainer PK Leong was unable to offer any explanation.   His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in-and-out running and he was warned that if this horse builds up a pattern of inconsistent running in future, the gelding may be suspended.

GENERAL REPORT-PRTC

23RD OCTOBER 2021 – PERAK OCTOBER MEETING 2021 

VETERINARY REPORT 

Race 5(R813) CLASS 59A) -1100m (sc) CANNING HANDICAP

Post-race veterinary surgeon reported that MIRACLE TIME (MRA NO. H138) sustained a laceration to the back of the right hind limb cannon region during the running of Race 5 on 23rd October 2021. The gelding will required to pass a veterinary exam before being declared to race again 


GENERAL REPORT – PNTC 

Trainer Ooi Chin Chin was fined RM200 for allowing his horse to do fast work on a track designated for slow work (Sand Track), at 7.45am on Friday, 22nd October 2021. 


On 14th July 2021, Syce Irwadi Bin Muhamat of Trainer Ooi Chin Chin was fined RM200.00 under MRA Rule 152(5)(b) for failing to follow the SOP set by Penang Turf Club when entering the club premises.


On 3rd October 2021, Syce Mohd Azam Bin Hamid of Trainer Bonny Ng was find RM200.00 under MRA Rule 152(5)(b) for failing to follow the SOP set by Penang Turf Club when entering the club premises.
