RACE 1 (R639) CLASS 4(A) – 1100m (str) GUNUNG BRINCHANG HANDICAP

SAGE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on GRASSWOOD STAR (S Salee).

Acting on a report from the Veterinary Surgeon that the rubber-cheekers on EASY SOUTH EAST (App SN Shiva) were faulty and were unable to be replaced, Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.14pm. Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of EASY SOUTH EAST was warned that he must ensure that all his equipment must be in good order in future.

TILSWORTH JACOBI (App A Najib) jumped outwards.

At approximately the 900M-mark, WINNER NUMBER ONE (App N Varmah) had to steady when PURPLE RAIN (S Saddam) rolled outwards. Jockey S Saddam, the rider of PURPLE RAIN was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care.

LADY LAKSHMI (AK Lim) was hanging in from the 800M-mark.

Jockey CK Tan, the rider of ALWAYS D’GREAT was fined RM1,000/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(i) for hitting his mount forward of its shoulder.

A post-race veterinary examination of ALWAYS D’GREAT (CK Tan) and ELITE SAINT (J Daniel) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported GRASSWOOD STAR returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R640) OPEN MAIDEN – 1300m (lc) GUNUNG TAHAN STAKES

BE YOURSELF which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

UNLIMITED STAR (SU Lim) jumped awkwardly inwards, inconveniencing TAIWAN CAPTAIN (Y Aify).

MISS THYRA (App N Varmah) jumped awkwardly, brushing the inside gate.

At approximately the 1100M-mark, UNLIMITED STAR was inconvenienced when BE YOURSELF (J Low) rolled outwards. Jockey J Low, the rider of BE YOURSELF was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

TAIWAN CAPTAIN commenced to hang out from the 400M-mark and CANDY RAIN (S Saddam) steadied off its heels at approximately the 300M-mark.

Jockey M Yusri, the rider of SHYLOCK reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SHYLOCK revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of UNLIMITED STAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CANDY RAIN returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 3 (R641) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600m (lc) GUNUNG RAJAH HANDICAP

CODIGOS, SONNY BILL JJ STAR, GET THE LOTSKI and BLUE EYED BOY, all are course scratching. CODIGOS had sustained a stone bruised off fore. SONNY BILL had sustained a bruised off hind fetlock. JJ STAR had skin fungal infection of its near fore coronary band. GET THE LOTSKI had sore back and BLUE EYED BOY had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SWEET LODGE (App N Varmah) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

DESTINY CHILD (SU Lim) which stood and refused to jump, will be required to pass two (2) starting stall tests at weekly intervals before being declared to race again.

SWEET LODGE was obliged to race wide in the early stages.

RACE 4 (R642) CLASS 5 (A) -1600m (lc) GUNUNG IRAU HANDICAP

SING DARCI, NAPOLEON and GOLDEN EMPIRE, all are course scratching. SING DARCI had sustained sole bruised near fore. NAPOLEON had sustained bruised on right knee while GOLDEN EMPIRE had sustained bruised off hind cannon. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BALBOA which was up 16kgs while GOLDEN COIN which was down 16kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Jockey L De Souza was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission to ride 1kg over on CROWN DELIGHT within the stipulated time.

CROWN DELIGHT (L De Souza) which stood and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SECOND CHANCE (S Saddam) which was slowly away, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

GOLDEN COIN (CK Tan) was obliged to race wide rounding the turn.

App SN Shiva, the rider of BALBOA dropped his whip at approximately the 400M-mark and thereafter, his mount was hanging out in the later stages.

App S Sia, the rider of FIRST PASSTHEPOST, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Mr. R Lines was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(i) for hitting his mount forward of its shoulder.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BALBOA, GOLD KIDS (M Yusri) and SECOND CHANCE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R643) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200m (sc) GUNUNG PULAI HANDICAP

BIG G (App N Varmah) which could not be boxed, delaying the start, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 3.19pm. BIG G will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

MIRACLE TIME (L De Souza) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

LION CONQUEROR (S Saddam) had a tendency to lay out in the later stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of MIRACLE TIME revealed that the gelding had returned lame off hind and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of LION CONQUEROR, Trainer Evert van Breukelen stated that LION CONQUEROR raced last week over 1000M and the only explanation that he was able to offer is that this horse was better-suited over 1200M, coupled with a weaker field today. His explanations were noted.

RACE 6 (R644) CLASS 5(B) – 1200m (sc) GUNUNG LAMBAK HANDICAP

TILSWORTH MALI (CK Tan) jumped awkwardly, brushing the inside gate and was slow into stride.

LUKE MAN (AM Aizat) jumped awkwardly.

MY FIRST MILLION (J Low) was slow into stride.

The saddle on HERO CHAMPION (J Daniel) slipped backwards during the running.

Jockey J Daniel, the rider of HERO CHAMPION reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of HERO CHAMPION and MY FIRST MILLION revealed no obvious abnormality.

HERO CHAMPION which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R645) CLASS 5(B) -1200m (sc) GUNUNG SANTUBONG HANDICAP

Jockey K Eirwan was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission to ride 1kg over on GIANT KILLING within the stipulated time.

Acting on a report from the Veterinary Surgeon that I AM MIDAS (AK Lim) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.13pm. I AM MIDAS will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey M Yusri, the rider of SING ROULETTE reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SING ROULETTE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R646) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400m (sc) GUNUNG ANGSI HANDICAP

FLAGSHIP, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut on its mouth, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on a report from the Veterinary Surgeon that SEVEN SUNDAE had sustained a bruised off fore sole, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.05pm. SEVEN SUNDAE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BACK TO THE FUTURE (Y Aify) was slow into stride.

EMIRATES WARRIOR (M Yusri) jumped awkwardly and thereafter, came together with IAMBUTTER (AK Lim).

Approaching the 800M-mark, FAST AND SUPER (S Saddam) eased off the heels of IAMBUTTER.

IAMBUTTER was hanging out in the straight.

RACE 9 (R647) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400m (sc) GUNUNG KINABALU HANDICAP

LAGO DE COMO, a course scratching as it had sustained a sole bruised near fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

QIJI ACHEEVA (AK Lim) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.

STAR GENIUS (R Rueven) raced wide into the home straight.

At approximately the 250M-mark, BAGHDAD (App N Varmah) shifted out against the whip, inconveniencing PREMIUM RUSH (J Daniel). App N Varmah, the rider of BAGHDAD was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting out in future.

Jockeys J Daniel, R Rueven and App N Varmah, the riders of PREMIUM RUSH, STAR GENIUS and BAGHDAD respectively, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of PREMIUM RUSH, STAR GENIUS and BAGHDAD revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

RACE 7 (R625) CLASS 5(A) – 1000M, PULAU MABUL HANDICAP – SUNDAY, 1^ST DAY, 22^ND MAY 2022, PERAK MAY MEETING 2022

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today at PRTC, Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of NEW GARDEN was found guilty to a charge for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards under MRA Rule 44(10).

The details of the charge were that he failed to give sufficient rein on jumping and thereafter, failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey K Eirwan’s record and mitigating factors. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months, effective from Monday, 30^th May 2022 and to expire on Monday, 29^th August 2022, both dates inclusive. In addition, Jockey K Eirwan was fined a sum of RM20,000/-. He was advised of his right of appeal (12.15pm).

App S Sia who rode his 10^th winner on WILLOW SPRING (Race 7), Saturday, 21^st May 2022, Penang May Meeting 2022, will be entitled to claim 3kgs.
