RACE 2 (R852)   CLASS 5 (A) 1600M (lc)   LILY OF THE VALLEY HANDICAP                        

WINNING STAR, a course scratching as it had sustained sheared heels, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

TAN’S MAESTRO (J Chuah) was slow to begin.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SOON YOU THINK reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of SOON YOU THINK revealed no obvious abnormality.

SOON YOU THINK, INDOMITABLE SPEED (App S Hafis), TAN’S MAESTRO and POLO MASTER (SU Lim) which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of INDOMITABLE SPEED and POLO MASTER revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that INDOMITABLE SPEED returned having cast its near fore plate.

The Panel of Stewards opened an inquiry into the running of this race, in particular as to why SOON YOU THINK, INDOMITABLE SPEED, TAN’S MAESTRO and POLO MASTER were non-competitive in the race.  Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SOON YOU THINK stated that his mount jumped away awkwardly and his instructions were to be mid-field.  He stated that SOON YOU THINK failed to respond to his riding in the early and middle stages and was racing further back than he anticipated.

App S Hafis, the rider of INDOMITABLE SPEED stated that his instructions were to jump and sit where comfortable.  He stated that the pace of the race was fast and did not suit the gelding.

Jockey J Chuah, the rider of TAN’S MAESTRO stated that his instructions were to jump and sit mid-field.   However, he missed the jump and was unable to carry out his instructions and that the gelding failed to respond to his riding in the middle stages of the race and ran on fairly.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of POLO MASTER stated that his instructions were to get a good jump and sit where comfortable.   He stated that the gelding was not suited by the strong pace set by SUPREME JUSTICE (C Goon).

Jockeys HS Gill, J Chuah, SU Lim and App S Hafis were all advised that their explanations were noted and the Panel of Stewards warned them that they must ride all their mounts in a competitive manner and leave no reason for query.

RACE 3 (R853)         CLASS 4(A) – 1400M (lc)    PRIMROSE HANDICAP   

LUCKY ENOUGH, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.           

PLACE YOUR BET, which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SONNY BILL (M Yusri) was slow to begin.

PLACE YOUR BET (AM Aizat) and CHIEF CLERK (CK Tan) were slow into stride.

STAGESHOW (App S Hafis) steadied on several occasions over the heels of DISCRETELY RED (App S Saddam) between the 1000M and 800M, when DISCRETELY RED shifted ground. 

PLACE YOUR BET which was racing ungenerously, rolled out at the 800M, resulting in STAGESHOW having to be steadied.

BIG BANK (App P Mogun) laid out over the concluding stages and finished wider on the track.

The saddle on D’GREAT CHANCE (HK Cheng) slipped back during the running of the race.

LUCKY COIN (F Yap) which raced poorly, be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PLACE YOUR BET and CHIEF CLERK returned having cast their off fore and near hind plate respectively.

RACE 4 (R854)         CLASS 5(B) – 1200M (lc)     SWEET PEA HANDICAP     

MAYWEATHER, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ONCE A THIEF (AM Aizat) jumped away awkwardly.

NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (HS Gill) which was fractious in the barrier, jumped away awkwardly.

ASIAN JET (F Yap) and CAVATINA (J Daniel) which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey J Daniel, the rider of CAVATINA reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of CAVATINA revealed no obvious abnormality. 

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer Evert van Breukelen, the trainer of SOLID BRISK as to its improved performance today.   He stated that SOLID BRISK had performed well at its barrier trial on 13th October 2020 and that he expected a better showing today.   His explanations were noted.

RACE 5 (R855)     OPEN MAIDEN [WFA] – 1000M (sc)     MARIGOLD STAKES  

TAOCA WARRIOR and KRUGER, both course scratching as they had sustained a sole bruise off fore and sore back respectively, each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

YES BOSSY which was up 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

To avoid unnecessary delay, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of YELLOW JADE HORSE (Z Khairil) at 3.13pm as the gelding, which was fractious, was unable to be re-shod after having cast its off fore plate. 

CAUSE TO FLY (App S Hafis) and SWISS ROLL (App S Saddam) were both slow to begin.

YES BOSSY (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly.

CASTLE OCEAN (App A Azizi) rolled in racing to the 800M, resulting in STANDOUT (R Rueven) being bumped inwards onto JUMBO STAR (App SN Shiva), which in turn, bumped CLARTON FORTUNE (CK Tan) ontoYES BOSSY on the rail.

Post-race veterinary examinations of STANDOUT and SPEEDY AMIGA (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer HS Lim, the trainer of CASTLE OCEAN as to the gelding’s improved performance today.  He stated that CASTLE OCEAN had two (2) barrier practices in Penang and that he expected an improved showing today.  His explanations were noted.

RACE 6 (R856)         CLASS 4(B) – 1000M (sc)         SNOWDROP HANDICAP                          

LADY LAKSHMI, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on veterinary advice that CAORUNN had sustained a cut in its mouth, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.35pm and the gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MR WOLFF which was up 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

DEADLINE DAY (J De Souza), JULIUS CAESAR (App CT Lee) and STIRLING (App S Hafis) were all slow to begin.

DEADLINE DAY broke down racing to the 600M and dislodged its rider, Jockey J De Souza.   STIRLING and JULIUS CAESAR which were following, had to take evasive actions to avoid the fallen horse and the rider. 

App CT Lee, the rider of JULIUS CAESAR reported that he was struck in the face by the plate of the fallen horse. 

Jockey J De Souza, the rider of DEADLINE DAY was exempted from weighing in and was taken to hospital for observations.

A post-race veterinary examination of JULIUS CAESAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DEADLINE DAY had sustained bilateral mid-cannon fracture and was humanely euthanized.

The Course Manager inspected the area of the track at the 600M and was satisfied that it was safe for racing.

RACE 7 (R857)         CLASS 4 (A) – 1000M (sc)   CARNATION HANDICAP      

LIM’S PIPER, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. 

KING POWER, which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

KANTE (SS Vanan), ANONYMOUS (S Salee) and ONE FOR ALL (AM Aizat) were all slow to begin.

Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of KANTE reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of KANTE revealed no obvious abnormality

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of CRACKING TOTTIE, placed 4th against SILVER WIND (App S Hafis), placed 3rd on ground of alleged interference at the final 50M.    After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that the interference had not affected the results of the race.  The objection was overruled and the Judges’ placings stood.

App S Hafis, the rider of SILVER WIND in the presence of his Acting Trainer, Mr. Evert van Breukelen, was shown the vision of the race in the final 100M and he was advised that under similar circumstances in future, he must stop and straighten his mount.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ALWAYS D’GREAT returned having cast its both fore plates.

RACE 8 (R858)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (sc)               DAISY HANDICAP                             

GOLDEN ROOSTER, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

EMPIRE BAY and MY FIRST MILLION which were up 24kgs and 34kgs respectively in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

EMPIRE BAY (SU Lim) was crowded at the start and had to steady when MY FIRST MILLION (J Chuah) shifted in and as a result, lost its position.

AMAZING DRAGON (HK Cheng) was slow to begin.

EMPIRE BAY raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of ELAINE LOVER (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 9 (R859)         CLASS 5(A) – 1200M (sc)     DAFFODIL HANDICAP          

MORE THAN FAST dislodged its rider, Jockey F Yap enroute to the start.   Jockey F Yap was certified unfit by the Club Medical Officer and was subsequently stood down.  The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MORE THAN FAST at 5.21pm and the gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test to be ridden unaided to the start before being declared to race again.

Prior to leaving the Parade Ring, the saddles of ROSES FOR ME (S Muniandy) and SING ROULETTE (KC Wong) had to be re-weighed when it was reported to the Panel of Stewards that the saddles on the respective horses were incorrect.  After taking evidence from Trainers K Coetzee and PK Leong, Jockeys KC Wong and S Muniandy and Valet Sophian Hadi bin Ismail (MRA Pass No.V.5).  After considering all the evidence, the Panel of Stewards took no further action.

COMECATCHME (R Rueven) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT (SS Vanan) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in WHAT (App S Saddam) losing its position.

ONE O NINE (S Anandan) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

RANT AND RAVE (App S Hafis) laid out over the concluding 100M, taking PEARL KING (App P Mogun) wider on the track.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of ONE O NINE reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of ONE O NINE revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST:  

1st DAY, SATURDAY, 24th OCTOBER 2020 – PERAK OCTOBER/NOVEMBER MEETING 2020 

The report dated 24th October 2020 (V20/13) Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 93 coded blood samples were received from the above-mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  All samples were analyzed and passed the pre-race testing criteria. 


GENERAL REPORT – PNTC

PENANG OCTOBER MEETING 2020

POST-RACE URINE: 

The report dated 22nd October 2020 (V20/075) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 22 bottles of coded urine samples and 32 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 12th October 2020 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.
