CAVALLA COURT, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised off hind cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 GALILEO’S APPROACH (SU Lim) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

Barrier number 5 was damaged and as such, all horses affected were shifted out accordingly.

AIR BOSS (App A Azizi) was slow into stride.

PURPLE RAIN LADY (App R Nuqman) was pulling hard in the early stages.

SORBETA (S Ruzaini) was pulling hard and was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of PURPLE RAIN LADY revealed no obvious abnormality.

BLUE EYED BOY, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised both fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NAPOLEON (App Z Syafifie) jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) was inconvenienced and had to be steadied from LAGO DE COMO (How Yang) which was shifting in.   Jockey How Yang, the rider of LAGO DE COMO was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care.

A post-race veterinary examination of TAIWAN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

MIEJ (Y Aify) was loaded riderless and as such, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SHYLOCK (S Ruzaini), LITTLE MASTER (App Z Syafifie) and MIEJ were slow into stride.

LEEDSTHEWAY (App A Azizi) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.

App Z Syafifie and Jockey SU Lim, the rider of LITTLE MASTER and MAGICAL PARK respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of LITTLE MASTER revealed that the gelding had bled and MAGICAL PARK revealed no obvious abnormality.   LITTLE MASTER will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of MAZANZE (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.  

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, App A Azizi, the rider of LEEDSTHEWAY, in the presence of his master Trainer T Asogan,  pleaded guilty to a charge for incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii), in that he failed to give his mount sufficient rein, resulting in his mount jumping awkwardly, throwing its head. 

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account App A Azizi’s guilty plea, disciplinary records and mitigating factors.   App A Azizi was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month, effective from Sunday, 29th January 2023 and to expire on Tuesday, 28th February 2023, both dates inclusive.   He was advised of his right of appeal (2.50pm).

When questioned with regards to the improved performance of MIEJ, Trainer W Lim explained that in his opinion, MIEJ was suited by the long course at PRTC.   His explanation was noted.

SING DARCI, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 Passing the 350M-mark, PLACE YOUR BET (SU Lim) and MGR ROCKET (App A Azizi) came together.

MGR ROCKET laid out under pressure at the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of PLACE YOUR BET revealed no obvious abnormality.  

At the conclusion of an Inquiry today into the running and handling of STAGESHOW, Jockey KC Tham, the rider of STAGESHOW was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 

The particulars of the charge are that, after getting a good jump, he unnecessarily restrained his mount between 1300M-mark and the 600M-mark, placing his mount further back than instructed, thereby resulting in his mount being placed at a disadvantage.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey KC Tham’s riding records and mitigating factors.  Jockey KC Tham was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, effective Monday, 30th January 2023 and to expire on Monday, 29th May 2023, both dates inclusive.  In addition, he was fined the sum of RM10,000/-.   He was advised of his right of appeal (6.35pm).

An inquiry will be held at a date to be fixed into statements made by Trainer Evert van Breukelen and Assistant Trainer Khor Peng Hwa during the above inquiry.

 DARK KNIGHT which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start

SNAGGLE PUSS (App A Nazir) and MR ROCKWELL came together on jumping.

HELLO MONDAY over-raced in the early stages.

 TRAFALGAR and QUASAR, both are course scratching, as TRAFALGAR had sustained stone bruised off fore while QUASAR had sustained sole bruised off hind.  Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 Emergency acceptor DIAMOND RUSH was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

 OCEAN LAW (WK Lee) was difficult to load and was loaded riderless, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

 STAR GENIUS (App A Nazir) was slow into stride.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of ROSES FOR ME reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of ROSES FOR ME revealed no obvious abnormality.

When questioned with regards to the improved performance of SOMAR (App A Azizi), Trainer T Asogan was unable to offer any explanations.  His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running and should this horse proved to be inconsistent in future, it may be suspended from racing.

 BEST BAY which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start

The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BEST BAY (R Rueven) at 4.13pm, acting on a report from the Club Veterinary Surgeon that the gelding was lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M & vet) before being declared to race again.

Passing the 350M-mark, STORM TO WIN (Y Aify) steadied off the heels of BLACK AND WHITE (App R Nuqman), which had rolled out and again steadied off the heels of BLACK AND WHITE at the 300M-mark, when it continued to rolled out again   App R Nuqman, the rider of BLACK AND WHITE in the presence of his acting master, Trainer T Asogan was shown the video of this incident and was warned to exercise more care in future.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of LAST CHANCE reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of LAST CHANCE revealed that the gelding returned broken-winded and and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of I AM KHAN (App A Azizi) and COLOUR PAINT (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ROCK ARTIST (App A Azizi) at 4.43pm, acting on a report from the Club Veterinary Surgeon that the gelding was lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M & vet) before being declared to race again.

YES BOSSY (HS Gill) was difficult to be loaded, was loaded riderless and as such, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

LIM’S PIPER (HK Cheng) was slow into stride.

VK BOY (App Z Syafifie) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of YES BOSSY reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of YES BOSSY revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of JULIUS CAESAR (R Rueven) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer S Shanmugam was questioned with regards to the improved performance of PONTIANAK (App R Nuqman) today.  The only explanation he could offer is that he had changed the training methods on this horse and incorporated more swimming, which had kept the horse fresh.  This in his opinion, has improved its performance.  His attention was drawn to the MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

 METEOR LOUI (WK Lee) jumped awkwardly inwards, inconveniencing SUNTZU (App A Nazir) and YOU ARE GENIUS (App R Nuqman).

At approximately the 350M-mark, RAINBOW FISH (SU Lim) was inconvenienced when TOP TURF (App Z Syafifie) rolled inwards.

Jockey Y Aify, the rider of BITCOIN KING reported that his mount had bled.  A post-race veterinary examination of BITCOIN KING revealed that the horse had bled and as such, the horse will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of AYAAN reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of AYAAN revealed no obvious abnormality and returned having cast its off fore plate.

 GENERAL REPORT

 POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

7TH & 8TH JANUARY 2023 – PERAK JANUARY MEETING 2023

 The report dated 19th January 2023 (V23/004) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 29 coded urine and 31 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 8th January 2023, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

 The report dated 19th January 2023 (V23/005) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics  Laboratory stated that 4 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 8th January 2023, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

PENANG  JANUARY MEETING 2023  SATURDAY, 14TH JANUARY 2023

RACE 1 (R 046) CLASS 5(B) – 1600M

 At the conclusion of the Inquiry today (Saturday, 28th January 2023) into the running and handling of JEFFREY (SU Lim) at Perak Turf Club.

 After hearing further evidence from Trainer HS Lim, the trainer of JEFFREY, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of JEFFREY and his witnesses Jockeys KC Tham and S Ruzaini and reviewing the videos, Jockey SU Lim was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. 

The particulars of the charge are that, after having been slightly inconvenienced at the start by LIM’S KEYWAY (R Rueven), Jockey SU Lim then allowed his mount to drop to the back of the field when his instructions were to be handy.   Thereafter, he took his mount unnecessarily wide entering the backstraight, placing it at a disadvantage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stipendiary Stewards took into account Jockey SU Lim’s disciplinary records and mitigating factors.   Jockey SU Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, effective from Monday, 30th January 2023 and to expire on Monday, 29th May 2023, both dates inclusive.   In addition, Jockey SU Lim was fined the sum of RM20,000/-.   He was advised of his right appeal (12.00 noon).
