STEWARDS’ REPORT – PERAK JULY MEETING 2022

DAY 1, SATURDAY – 2^ND JULY 2022

STATE OF TRACK: GOOD

RACE 1 (R793) CLASS 5(A) – 1600m (lc) MUSTANG HANDICAP

OVERSEER and MOONSHINE MISTRESS both are course scratching. OVERSEER has sustained stoned bruised off fore sole and MOONSHINE MISTRESS had sustained sore off fore fetlock. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor TRINITY HONOR was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

MR DUJARDIN (App R Nuqman) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

MASTER JIANGMEN (SU Lim), CHER (Y Aify) and CHIEF CLERK (CK Tan) were slow into stride.

At approximately the 800M–mark, CHIEF CLERK started to over-race and raced into the lead.

At approximately the 500M-mark, DROUGHT stumbled and broke down, dislodging Jockey R Rueven. PURPLE RAIN LADY (S Saddam) which was following, had to take evasive actions. Jockey R Rueven, the rider of DROUGHT was exempted from weighing-in. He was subsequently examined by the Club Medical Officer and was medically stood down. Jockey R Rueven was sent to hospital for observations.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DROUGHT had fractured its off fore cannon and was humanely euthanized. PURPLE RAIN LADY returned having cast its off fore plate.

A post-race veterinary examination of TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) revealed that the gelding had returned lame off hind and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R794) CLASS 5 (B) – 1600m (lc) QUARTER HANDICAP

Emergency acceptors SNOW DANCER and IMMORTALITY were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey J Chuah to replace Jockey R Rueven as the rider of STAR CHOICE, as the latter was medically stood down.

GOLDEN EMPIRE (S Saddam) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

GET THE LOTSKI (F Yap) and CROWN DELIGHT (App S Sia) were slow into stride.

FIRST SUCCESS (S Salee) shifted in from the whip in the straight.

GET THE LOTSKI which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey J Chuah, the rider of STAR CHOICE dropped his whip at approximately the 350M-mark. He was fined the sum of RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

After the running of this race, the Senior Starter reported that the hydraulic pump of the starting gates were faulty and the starting gates had to be changed.

RACE 3 (R795) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300m (lc) ARABIAN HANDICAP

NATUREISSPEAKING (CK Tan) which could not be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 2.52pm. The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

CHAR SIEW (KP Lim) was slow into stride and entered the home straight wide.

A post-race veterinary examination of SPEEDY SWALLOW (S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R796) CLASS 5 (A) -1300m (lc) MARWARI HANDICAP

ALPHA MOLTRES, a course scratching as it had sustained a stone bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

THE NEXT WAVE (App AR Aiman) and BATTLESTAR (S Salee) were examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and were passed fit to start.

HOUSEHOLD DYNASTY (S Saddam) was slow into stride.

Jockey Y Aify, the rider of D’GREAT MAGIC was dislodged on pulling-up when his left stirrup leather broke and he was exempted from weighing-in. He was examined by the Club Medical Officer and was medically stood down for the day. Jockey Y Aify was sent to hospital for observations.

A post-race veterinary examination of PULAU PINANG (AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R797) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300m (lc) APPALOOSA HANDICAP

SING EXPRESS, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor LADY BLA BLA was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY which was down 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

D’GREAT EMPRESS (AM Aizat) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 800M-mark, the saddle slipped back badly on HAPPY LUCKY STAR, resulting in App S Sia being unable to assist and his horse dropping back. In this incident, LEEDSTHEWAY (S Salee) which was following, had to take evasive actions.

Passing the 400M-mark, HAPPY LUCKY STAR rolled outwards, crowding TILSWORTH MALI (KP Lim) which was inconvenienced.

A post-race veterinary examination of YOU ARE SPECIAL (HS Gill) revealed that the gelding had bled and as such, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R798) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300m (lc) PAINT HANDICAP

BUTCH CASSIDY, a course scratching as it had suffered from colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor ROBBEN was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

DON’T FORGET THIS (AK Lim) which was difficult to be boxed, delaying the start, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SING ROULETTE (S Saddam) was slow into stride.

GORDON G (App S Sia) and BORN A FIGHTER (CK Tan) raced wide into the home straight.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App R Nuqman, the rider of GHOST AFFAIR, in the presence of acting master, Trainer S Deva Raj, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(v) in that he had used his whip with excessive force, causing injury to the gelding.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s guilty plea, his riding record and mitigating factors. App R Nuqman was fined the sum of RM1,000/-.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GHOST AFFAIR returned with whip- marks on its right flank, break in its skin and was swollen.

RACE 7 (R799) ENRICH STAKES A (SW) -1200m (sc) FRIESIAN STAKES

LIM’S DASHING which was up 34kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App M Ekdihar to replace Jockey Y Aify, as the rider of THE DODGER.

LIM’S DASHING (HS Gill) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

RELAU STAR (S Saddam) and SUPER COME (CK Tan) were slow into stride.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of LIM’S DASHING reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S DASHING revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of SHYAM SINGHA ROY (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey J Chuah, the rider of SHYAM SINGHA ROY, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) punishable under MRA Rule 44(8)(a) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that his mount was given the best opportunity of obtaining the best possible placing.

The details of the charge were that:-

after getting a good jump, he took hold of his mount at approximately the 1000M-mark and restrained it continually until approximately the 250M-mark;
thereafter, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination in the race.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Chuah’s guilty plea, his riding record and mitigating factors. Jockey J Chuah was disqualified from riding in races for a period of one (1) year, effective from Sunday, 3^rd July 2022 and to expire on 2^nd July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (7.20pm).

RACE 8 (R800) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200m (sc) LIPIZZAN HANDICAP

Emergency acceptor DREAMS CAN BE REAL was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

TURF PRINCESS which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App SN Shiva to replace Jockey R Rueven, as the rider of MACARTHUR.

QIJI ACHEEVA (F Yap) which was difficult to be boxed, delaying the start, will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

QIJI ACHEEVA jumped awkwardly outwards and was slow into stride.

SILENT BOSS (App AR Aiman) and CHAR KWAY TEOW (CK Tan) were slow into stride.

App AR Aiman, the rider of SILENT BOSS dropped his off-side rein at approximately the 200M-mark and regained it shortly thereafter.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MACARTHUR (App SN Shiva) had bled and as such, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 9 (R801) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200m (sc) GYPSY HANDICAP

Emergency acceptors QADIRA MEDINA and COLUR PAINT were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

As there was no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App AR Aiman to replace Jockey HS Gill, as the rider of SOMAR and App M Ekdihar to replace Jockey Y Aify, as the rider of BACK TO THE FUTURE.

Acting on veterinary advices that XANTHOS (F Yap) was lame off fore and ELITE SAINT was lame off hind, the Panel of Stewards ordered both withdrawals at 5.50pm. Both these geldings will be required to pass a test each (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MISS MICHELLE (AK Lim) and ACE’S WILD (AM Aizat) which were both unable to be boxed and delaying the start, were both withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 5.55pm. Both these horses will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test each before being declared to race again.

BACK TO THE FUTURE (App M Ekdihar) was slow into stride.

App SN Shiva, the rider of EMIRATES WARRIOR reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of EMIRATES WARRIOR revealed no obvious abnormality.

App AR Aiman who rode his 10^th winner on SOMAR, will now be entitled to claim 3kgs.

VALENCIA which was up 32kgs and SAGE which was down 19kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

As there was no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App S Sia to replace Jockey R Rueven, as the rider of PURPLE RAIN and App AR Aiman to replace Jockey HS Gill, as the rider of SUNNY FIGHTER.

STAGESHOW (SU Lim) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

SAGE (CK Tan) was slow into stride.

VALENCIA (J Chuah) had a tendency to lay out in the straight.

App S Sia, the rider of PURPLE RAIN reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of PURPLE RAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that QUASAR and GOLD SKY EXPRESS returned having cast their near hind and off hind plates respectively.
