GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

RACE 1 (R1002) CLASS 5-B – 1400M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 12 AUGUST 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2018

The Stewards, on 14 August 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of UNION JAC. Evidence was taken from App A Zaimuddin, the rider of UNION JAC, in the presence of his Acting Master, B Trainer Veloo a/l Kanniah (BT. 9), the representative of Trainer BT Lim who is the Trainer of UNION JAC and Master for App A Zaimuddin.

App A Zaimuddin stated that UNION JAC has a tendency to wander off a straight line in the closing stages of his races, and it is not always possible to predict whether the gelding will shift inwards or outwards. The Stewards noted his evidence, but warned App A Zaimuddin that he should always ride in such a manner as to leave no room for query.

RACE 2 (R1003) CLASS 5-A – 1400M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 12 AUGUST 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2018

The Stewards, on 14 August 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the an incident at about the 100M in the above race. Evidence was taken from App A Zaimuddin, the rider of LIM’S SIGNATURE, in the presence of his Acting Master, B Trainer Veloo a/l Kanniah (BT. 9), the representative of Trainer BT Lim who is the Trainer of LIM’S SIGNATURE and Master for App A Zaimuddin. The Stewards also took evidence from Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of DAWN OF THE WORLD, on 12 August 2018 (Saturday).

The Stewards found that interference had taken place at two (2) specific points. Firstly, at about the 100M, LIM’S SIGNATURE had shifted inwards under a right-handed drive, briefly bumping DAWN OF THE WORLD (M Ganeesh). App A Zaimuddin was warned that he would be expected to take all reasonable measures to keep his mounts straight under similar circumstances in future, including switching his whip hand when necessary.

Secondly, at about the 50M the Stewards observed that LIM’S SIGNATURE had shifted very slightly inwards at the same time as DAWN OF THE WORLD shifted outwards, causing Jockey M Ganeesh to check to avoid running on to the heels of LIM’S SIGNATURE. After reviewing the vision of this incident, it was established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.

The Stewards concluded that at about the 400M, MR WASHINGTON had shied inwards away from ONFLEEK (J Low) when the rider of that horse drew his whip in the left hand and had thus caused interference to DAHEES. They warned Y Aify that although the initial contact was not caused by any error on his part, he should have subsequently taken steps to straighten his mount and that he would be expected to take immediate corrective measures in similar circumstances in future.

………………………..
