1st DAY – SATURDAY – 13th APRIL 2019

STATE OF TRACK: Race 1 & 2 – Yielding; Races 3 to 8 – Good

RACE 1 (R453)  CLASS 5(B) – 1200m(lc)    AMRAPALI HANDICAP

ENDURANCE, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised both fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HAPPY VALLEY which was up 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SPARKLER (S Salee) and SONIC PLUS (Z Khairil) were both examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

D’GREAT LORD (KC Wong) had to steadied shortly after the start, when tightened by HANDSOME BOSS (J Low) which was taken in by MILITARY STAR (SS Vanan).

Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of SONIC PLUS reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of SONIC PLUS revealed the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of HANDSOME BOSS revealed the gelding had returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R454)     CLASS 5(B)  – 1200m(lc)       BAILEY’S MARVEL HANDICAP

ELF’S DREAM and DON’T FORGET THIS, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised back and sore back respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RANGITAIKI (Z Khairil) shifted in on jumping away and brushed SONG KID (HK Cheng), which was taken in, resulting in EVIL TRAIN (J Chuah) losing its position.

App L De Souza, the rider of TEEN ANGEL reported that his mount was not striding out freely. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of TEEN ANGEL (App L De Souza) revealed that the mare had  returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again and RANGITAIKI revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LOYALTY’S ANGEL (F Yap) returned having cast its near hind plate.

The state of track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

RACE 3 (R455)     CLASS 5(B)  – 1400m(lc) CARRIE HANDICAP

BUTCH CASSIDY which was up 27kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

MEGUSTO (App WW Cheah) and BATTLE PLAN (S Salee) were both slow into stride.

MEGUSTO was taken wider on the home turn by ULTIMATE HERO (Z Khairil) which laid out.

ROYAL CHOICE (App R Ruwaidy) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ULTIMATE HERO revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RUSH (App S Saddam) and MAXIM DRAGON (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R456)   CLASS 5 (A)  – 1400m(lc)    BENISHAN HANDICAP

ACIPENSER (M Yusri) which jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FRANCES (App L De Souza), ACIPENSER and CAMERA STELLATA (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of SING DARCI into its improved performance today.   Trainer K Coetzee explained that SING DARCI (HS Gill) had trialed well during its trial on 2nd April 2019 and he expected an improved performance today.  He further explained that he is of the opinion that the gelding was better-suited by today’s going.  His explanations were noted.

RACE 5 (R457)   CLASS 5(B) – 1600m (lc)  BEVERLY HANDICAP

SWAN SONG (Z Khairil) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

JACKWIN (M Yusri) cast its near fore plate behind the barriers and had to be re-shod.  The gelding was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

SWAN SONG entered the home straight wide.

App S Saddam, the rider of RACING MAN reported that his mount was not striding out freely.   A post-race veterinary examination of RACING MAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BALBOA (HS Gill), LADY LIBERTY (J De Souza) and SWAN SONG revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned App S Saddam  in the presence of his master Trainer Evert van Breukelen into his ride on RACING MAN.  Trainer Evert van Breukelen stated that his instructions were to race in a mid to back position.  App S Saddam understood his instructions and that after getting a fair jump, RACING MAN settled back and at about the 400M, he used his whip and the gelding responded fairly.  The Panel of Stewards noted his explanation and advised him that from the 800M, he should have attempted to improve to get closer to D’GREAT OPULENT (KC Wong) and keep his mount under stricter control, as at about the 700M, MESSI (F Yap) was able to take a run to his inside when he permitted his mount to shift out.   The Panel of Stewards took no further action but advised him to ride all his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 6 (R458)   OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1400m (sc)     CARABAO STAKES

EMIRATES WARRIOR (HS Gill) had to be checked 50 metres after the start to avoid the heels of EASY LOVER (SS Vanan) which was racing greenly.

KING FORCE (HK Cheng) raced greenly throughout the race.

EASY DANCER (M Yusri) raced wide from the 800M until entering  the straight.

EASY DANCER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of EMIRATES WARRIOR reported that the breastcheck broke and his saddle slipped back during the race, placing him at a disadvantage. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of EMIRATES WARRIOR and EASY DANCER  revealed no obvious abnormality.

MR EPIC, a course scratching as it was lame near fore, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT (J De Souza) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

SUPERWISE (M Hanif) jumped away awkwardly outwards.

BIG BUS (S Anandan) over-raced from the 1000M to the 800M.

NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (HS Gill) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

PERFECT RUN (App WW Cheah) hung out at the 600M and bumped BORN A FIGHTER (F Yap) onto BIG BUS, resulting in Jockey S Anandan, the rider of BIG BUS becoming unbalanced momentarily.

D’GREAT HAWK (KC Wong) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey J De Souza, the rider of TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT revealed that the horse had returned lame off hind and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BORN A FIGHTER and D’GREAT HAWK revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R460) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200m (sc)  BLACK AND ROSE HANDICAP

CHERISH, a course scratching as it had sustained a sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MASTER JIANGMEN (J Low) was slow to begin.

OVER LIMITS (HK Cheng) showed no early speed, despite being urged.

ALAN (KC Wong) shifted out on jumping away and bumped DANE’S ANATOMY (S Muniandy) outwards onto MASTER JIANGMEN and shortly thereafter, MASTER JIANGMEN had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SPEEDY AMIGA (F Yap).

MASTER JIANGMEN which was laying out, was racing greenly at the 800M and had to check to avoid the heels of OVER LIMITS.

OVER LIMITS raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.

ALAN had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER DRAGON (App S Hafis) racing to the 300M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MASTER JIANGMEN and SUPER DRAGON revealed no obvious abnormality and SPEEDY AMIGA returned with respiratory distress.  As such, SPEEDY AMIGA will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

GENERAL REPORT – PNTC

HANDSOME BAB (R43) which bled during its barrier test at PNTC on Tuesday, 9 April 2019, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.


GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

TUESDAY, 9 APRIL 2019, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TEST

A post-trial veterinary examination of ROGER (W168) revealed that it bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3), and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R420) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 6 APRIL 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2019

App S Uzair (SOON SEEKER) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.


ADDENDUM

SUNDAY, 7 APRIL 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2019

The Racing Stewards ordered Races 10 and 11 be abandoned due to the inclement weather conditions.


POST RACE URINE:

SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2019

The report dated 12 April 2019 (V19/046) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 61 bottles of coded urine samples and 71 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 31 March 2019,  for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

Track Rider Ahmad Rizal bin Jumari (TR.52) was fined RM250/- for misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that on Thursday, 11th April 2019 at about 2.30am in the vicinity of the unloading bay at the Perak Turf Club, he acted in an aggressive manner towards one Omar bin Abdullah (MRA Pass S.756) by throwing a metal scoop shovel at him, resulting in him sustaining a cut to his left thumb and bruised his left thigh.
