RACE 1 (R701) CLASS 5(A) – 1100m (str) RAFFLESIA HANDICAP
Acting on a report from the Veterinary Surgeon that QIJI LOVE (Y Aify) had sustained a bruised near hind sole, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.55pm. QIJI LOVE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
HOUSEHOLD DYNASTY (S Saddam) jumped awkwardly.
BIG SUPER (KP Lim) which was laying out, brushed BEST BAY (AK Lim) at approximately the 400M-mark.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BEST BAY and BATTLESTAR (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.
Light rain fell during the running of this race.
When questioned with regards to the improved performance of JULIUS CAESAR, Trainer K Coetzee was unable to offer any explanations, other than possibly this horse had appreciated the straight course today. His explanations were noted and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

RACE 2 (R702) CLASS 5 (B) – 1100m (str) BOUGAINVILLEA HANDICAP
WASHINGTON, a course scratching as it had sustained stone bruised near fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Emergency acceptors METEOR LOUI and KIPEH were withdrawn due to a capacity field.
Acting on a report from the Veterinary Surgeon that BEAUTY THIRTYNINE (S Saddam) was lame off hind, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2.44pm. BEAUTY THIRTYNINE will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
DON’T FORGET THIS (F Yap) jumped awkwardly outwards.

RACE 3 (R703) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m (lc) YELLOW ALLAMANDA HANDICAP
As there was no suitable apprentice jockey available, the Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey How Yang to replace App M Ekdihar as the rider of FORTUNE SPIRIT.
Rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.
MY FIRST MILLION (CK Tan) jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.
SOON YOU THINK (C Goon) jumped awkwardly.
MIEJ (AK Lim) was slow into stride.
At the 500M-mark, TOP TURF (R Rueven) clipped the heels of BORN A FIGHTER (KP Lim) and stumbled. In this incident, Jockey R Rueven was almost dislodged and lost the use of both his stirrup irons and was unable to assist thereafter. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey KP Lim, the rider of BORN A FIGHTER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at approximately the 500M-mark, resulting in TOP TURF clipping heels, stumbled and almost dislodged its rider. Jockey KP Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) race days, effective Monday, 13th June 2022 and to expire on Saturday, 25th June 2022, both dates inclusive. He was informed of his right of appeal (3.35pm).

RACE 4 (R704) CLASS 5 (B) -1400m (lc) TARP HANDICAP
SNOW DANCER (R Rueven) jumped awkwardly outwards.
CALVADOS (AK Lim) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in crowding to KYO (L De Souza) and KING OF GLORY (S Rosmizan).
JJ STAR (App WW Cheah) was crowded shortly after the start, as a result of TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) jumping outwards.
App SN Shiva, the rider of NAPOLEON, in the presence of his Employing Trainer Mr. K Coetzee was shown the video of his ride and was warned to ensure that he must ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query in future.
A post-race veterinary examination of KING OF GLORY revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R705) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m (lc) BEGONIA HANDICAP
ULURU (Y Aify) stumbled badly on jumping.
GALLANT BLACK (L De Souza) was slow into stride.
Jockey S Saddam, the rider of POWER EXPRESS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of POWER EXPRESS and SWEET LODGE revealed no obvious abnormality.
When questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of POWER EXPRESS today as compared with its win on 5th June 2022 at PNTC, Trainer K Coetzee was unable to offer any explanations. Acting in terms of MRA Rule 117(3), POWER EXPRESS was suspended from racing for a period of one (1) month due to its inconsistent performance. Thereafter, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) for racing poorly, before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R706) ENRICH STAKES A (SW) – 1000m (sc) ORCHID STAKES
SYMBOL OF COURAGE, a course scratching as it had sustained an acute skin allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
LIM’S DASHING which was down 35kgs and SUPER COME which was up 16kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
D’GREAT BOSS (AM Aizat) was fractious and was unable to be saddled. The gelding was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 4.46pm to avoid unnecessary delay. A repetition of this behaviour may result in this horse being suspended in future.
GLORIA MARIS (KP Lim) and SUPER COME (J Chuah) were slow into stride.
SHYAM SINGHA ROY (How Yang) was obliged to race wide and entered the home straight wide.
At approximately the 200M-mark, TRUDY (App WW Cheah) was crowded on the inside of RELAU STAR (S Saddam) which was laying in. Jockey S Saddam, the rider of RELAU STAR was shown the video of the incident and he was warned against the practice of using his whip on his right hand when his mount was laying in.
A post-race veterinary examination of GLORIA MARIS revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R707) CLASS 4 (B) -1000m (sc) HIBISCUS HANDICAP
USA CAPTAIN and TESORO PUBLICO which were down 15kgs and16kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of MACEO was shown the video of his ride and was warned to ensure that he must ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query in future.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MACEO (HS Gill) returned with respiratory distress and SPEEDY DEMON (App R Nuqman) revealed no obvious abnormality. MACEO will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

GENERAL REPORT – PNTC
PENANG JUNE MEETING 2022, SUNDAY, 5TH JUNE 2022
RACE 4 (R683) CLASS 4(A) -1600M
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MULTIBLUE SHARK, Trainer S Cook reported that upon returning to the stables, MULTIBLUE SHARK was presented for further veterinary examination at PRTC and it was established that MULTIBLUE SHARK had saddle sore and this may have affected his performance. His explanation was noted.
PENANG JUNE MEETING 2022, SUNDAY, 5TH JUNE 2022
RACE 8 (R687) CLASS 5(A) – 1100M
At the conclusion of an Inquiry at PRTC today, App N Varmah, the rider of STORM TO WIN in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer C Robert, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) punishable under MRA Rule 44(8)(a).
The details of the charge are that:
-
i) After having had a good jump, App N Varmah became unbalanced slightly at the 800M-mark and thereafter, he rode his mount along and at approximately the 500M-mark, he took hold of his mount for no apparent reason and dragged it out of the race completely.
In assessing the penalty, the Stipendiary Stewards took into account App N Varmah’s riding records and mitigating factors. He was disqualified from riding in races for a period of eighteen (18) months, with effect from Saturday, 11th June 2022 and to expire on 10th December 2023, both dates inclusive. In addition, App N Varmah was fined the sum of RM40,000/-. (Malaysian Ringgit: Forty Thousand Only). He was informed of his right of appeal (1:15pm).
