DARK EXPRESS, a course scratching as it was sore off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PRINCE NANO which dislodged App AK Lim at the saddling enclosure, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

RACING MAN (App S Saddam) and SILENT DREAMS (App J Daniel) bumped on jumping away.

FOREVER BEST (M Yusri) was slow into stride.

Racing to the 1100M, ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DUBLEO BEAUTY (App AM Aizat) and rolled in, tightening SILENT DREAMS onto RACING MAN which was forced in onto BULL AND BEAR (App CK Khaw), making contact. Shortly thereafter, they continued to race tight and RACING MAN was buffeted and lost its position.

Passing the 900M, RACING MAN had to steady when SILENT DREAMS rolled in and BULL AND BEAR rolled out.

At about the 400M, DUBLEO BEAUTY shifted inwards to obtain a clear run.

App J Daniel, the rider of SILENT DREAMS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SILENT DREAMS revealed that the gelding had returned lame near fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FOREVER BEST, BULL AND BEAR and SMALL TIGER (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey S Sandana, the rider of ONE MORE ACHIEVER, placed 2nd against PRINCE NANO (App AK Lim), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference from the 150M.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing the vision of the race, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference did materially affect the result of the race. The objection was upheld and the Judges’ placings were amended as follows:-

1st – ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Sandana)
2nd – PRINCE NANO (App AK Lim)
3rd – DUBLEO BEAUTY (App AM Aizat)

4th – BLACK AHEAD (C Goon)

App AK Lim, the rider of PRINCE NANO was shown the vision of the race in the presence of his acting master, Trainer Evelyn Seet and he was advised to stop and straighten his mount under similar circumstances in future.

Trainer Bonny Ng was fined RM100/- under MRA 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on ROYAL CHOICE.

EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App AK Lim) was slow to begin.

CHARLIE CAME ALONG (S Sandana) was slow to begin and was slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ZENIDEKKA (C Goon), PIUS TOUCH (App Z Khairil), D’CREATOR (App AM Aizat) and DUE HOME (TM Wan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

LEAP OF FAITH (CK Tan) was difficult to settle and over-raced in the early stages of the race.

Jockey HS Gill and App AM Aizat, the riders of CIRRUS and KIWI MAESTRO respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of CIRRUS and KIWI MAESTRO revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LEAP OF FAITH and MAL’S DAD (M Ganeesh) revealed no obvious abnormality.

JACKPOT, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FAIRBORN (S Sandana) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

IWA ANTILIA (App KC Wong) was slow into stride.

Passing the 1400M, FAIRBORN had to steady to avoid the heels of EMPEROR QIAN LONG (App Am Aizat) and lost some ground.

A post-race veterinary examination of IWA ANTILIA revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore and as such, will be req uired to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ASTROHEAT (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R250) CLASS 5 – 1600m (lc)

ROCKET EXPRESS, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HIGHLAND FALCON (App S Saddam) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Jockey F Yap, the rider of FASTNET STAR was fined the sum of RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at about the 400M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GREAT GERONIMO (App J Daniel), FASTNET STAR and JETSTAR EAGLE (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R251) CLASS 4 – 1600m(lc)

After arriving at the barrier, Jockey S Sandana was dislodged from SUPER CROWN, when the bridle broke and had to be re-placed. Acting on the Starter’s report that SUPER CROWN was difficult to be boxed, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SUPER CROWN at 3.27pm and the gelding will be required to pass a starting stall test before being declared to race again.

WHISPERINTHEWIND (App J Daniel) broke through the gates and was re-captured, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Due to the broken barrier number 8, the Starters adjusted the barrier of JOYFUL (App AK Lim) from barrier 7 to barrier 6 and WHISPERINTHEWIND from barrier 8 to barrier 7.

SOCOTRA (M Yusri) jumped away awkwardly and veered outwards at the start and lost ground.

WHISPERINTHEWIND jumped away awkwardly and threw its head about shortly after the start.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of CARBON COPY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of CARBON COPY and ALLIED MARINE revealed no obvious abnormality.

PRT C Feb Mtg 2017, 3rd day, Sunday, 19Feb2017

The Stewards questioned Jockey HS Gill, the rider of CARBON COPY and Trainer K Coetzee, the Trainer of CARBON COPY regarding that gelding’s poor performance. Jockey HS Gill stated that CARBON COPY had begun well, but showed no early pace, despite being urged. CARBON COPY failed to respond to his riding and when placed under pressure in the straight and was disappointing. Trainer K Coetzee explained that CARBON COPY had been working well and was expecting a good run from the gelding today. He is unable to offer any tangible explanations for the gelding’s poor performance today. Trainer K Coetzee was advised to report back to the Stewards if he finds anything amiss with CARBON COPY during the week. CARBON COPY was impounded.

CARBON COPY and SOCOTRA which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R252) OPEN MAIDEN – 1100m (str) [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]

ASTRO CHEVALIER and BLIXEM, both course scratching as they had sustained a swollen near fore tendon and bruised near fore sole respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WHIRLWIND dislodged App M Sathiaa whilst enroute to the barriers and ran a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice that the stirrup bar on the saddle of WHIRLWIND was broken and to avoid further delay, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 3.53pm.

WAWA MASTER (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App AK Lim) was tightened for room when it lost its position when WAWA MASTER shifted in and AUGUSTA (App T Krisna) shifted out, resulting in AUGUSTA and WAWA MASTER bumping.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by App Z Khairil, the rider of ANAK PENANG, placed 2nd against MASTER OF SUCCESS (App S Saddam), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference from the 200M.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing the vision of the race, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference did materially affect the result of the race. The objection was upheld and the Judges’ placings were amended as follows:-

2nd – MASTER OF SUCCESS (App S Saddam)
3rd – GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App AK Lim)
4th – AUGUSTA (App T Krisna)

App S Saddam, the rider of MASTER OF SUCCESS was shown the vision of the race in the presence of his master, Trainer Evert Van Breukelen. At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App S Saddam pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 200M, he permitted his mount to shift inwards and bumped ANAK PENANG (App Z Khairil) inwards on two occasions till the winning post.

After careful deliberation, the Stewards suspended App S Saddam’s licence to ride in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective tomorrow, Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th February 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.43pm).

Post-race veterinary examinations of BUTCH CASSIDY (S Sandana) and COSTNER (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Steady rain fell prior and during the running of this race.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK IS POWER (HS Gill) and EMPIRE BAY (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of SEA BUTTERFLY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SEA BUTTERFLY revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/Vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SATELLITE GENIUS (App M Sathiaa) returned having cast its near hind plate and HERE COMES THUNDER (S Sandana) returned having cast its off fore plate.

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of RANGITAIKI was shown the vision of the race when the gelding shifted out under pressure and he was advised to stop and straighten his mount under similar circumstances in future.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App M Sathiaa, the rider of SATELLITE GENIUS in the presence of his master, Trainer S Cook, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 100M, he shifted inwards, taking the running of BUKIT BINTANG (J Low) which had to check and change course outwards to obtain a clear run.

After deliberation, the Stewards suspended App M Sathiaa’s licence to ride in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days to commence tomorrow, Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 26th February 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.57pm).

RACE 9 (R254) CLASS 4 – 1200m(sc)

The race was run in light rain.

OUR TOUCHE (App Z Khairil) stood when the gates were released and lost ground. Trainer S Hamilton was informed that a warning has been placed on the gelding that should it be slow to begin in future, action may be taken.

Shortly after the start, RUSH (M Ganeesh) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SACRED CITY (SS Vanan).

Racing to the 1100M, SACRED CITY was bumped on several occasions and became unbalanced by CLASSIC ARROW (App J Daniel) which was tightened by OKI OKI (Lou Ho).

Passing the 700M, OKI OKI had to be steadied when racing tight on the inside of NOTHING TO LOSE (J Low) and brushed CLASSIC ARROW on several occasions.

OUR TOUCHE raced wide from the 600M until entering the straight.

Racing to the 300M, GET THE LOTSKI (App M Sathiaa) had to be steadied when CLASSIC ARROW rolled in.

Post-race veterinary examinations of OUR TOUCHE and AUDACIOUS (M Yusri) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 10 (R255) CLASS 4 – 1200m(sc)

RUFFLE THE RUFFIAN, a course scratching as it had sustained corneal ulcer of will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FOURVIERE which was down 33kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

LUCK ALOT (S Thai Yang) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

FOURVIERE (App S Saddam) dipped on jumping away and shortly after the start, dipped again.

AWAKENED (M Ganeesh) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 1100M, D’GREAT RICH (J Low) shifted in, resulting in FOURVIERE being taken in and causing KAISER (Lou Ho) to be steadied and lost its position. Jockey J Low was shown the vision of the incident and warned to exercise greater care under similar circumstances in future.

Racing to the 800M, GOOD TASTE (KT Cheng) had to be checked to avoid the heels of FOURVIERE and shifted wider, causing AWAKENED and WAR LORD (App KC Wong) to race widre until entering the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of WAR LORD, KAISER, LUCK ALOT and BLACK RAIN (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOURVIERE returned having cast both hind plates.

PRTC VETERINARY HOSPITAL REPORT

The following horses have undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Veterinary Hospital between 22/12/2016 to 21/01/2017 and as such, will be subjected to pass a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again:-

RACE 6 (R213) ENRICH STAKES A – 1400m(sc) – JRA GOODWILL CUP [SET-WEIGHTS] 2 nd DAY, SUNDAY, 12th FEBRUARY 2017, PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING 2017

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Friday, 17th February 2017 into the running and handling of HELLO SAYANG, ridden by App J Daniel in the above race.

Evidence were taken from App J Daniel and Mr. KL Chong, the Trainer of HELLO SAYANG & Master of App J Daniel. After reviewing all angles of the vision of the race, their explanations were noted, however, App J Daniel was advised that he must ride all his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 6 (R213) ENRICH STAKES A – 1400m(sc) – JRA GOODWILL CUP [SET-WEIGHTS] 2 nd DAY, SUNDAY, 12th FEBRUARY 2017, PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING 2017

The Stewards questioned Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of TRUSON as to that gelding’s apparent poor performance. Jockey Lou Ho explained that the gelding had failed to respond to his riding and he could offer no other explanations.

The report dated 10 February 2017 (V17/015) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 50 coded urine and 55 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 30 January 2017, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

RACE 2 (R209) CLASS 5 –1000m(sc) – TAKARAZUKA KINEN HANDICAP PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING – 2n d DAY, SUNDAY, 12th FEBRUARY 2017

The Stewards concluded an inquiry today, Sunday, 19th February 2017 into the riding and handling of GREEN TRACER, ridden by Jockey HK Cheng in the above race.

Evidence was taken from Jockey HK Cheng and Trainer Bonny Ng, the trainer of GREEN TRACER and after reviewing all angles of the vision of the race.

PRT C Feb Mtg 2017, 3rd day, Sunday, 19Feb2017

The Stewards found Jockey HK Cheng guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge are that:

1) After securing a favourable position at the 800M, he unnecessarily restrained GREEN TRACER and lost ground;

2) From the 600M to the 350M, he continued to restrain GREEN TRACER when it was unnecessary for him to do so.

In deciding the penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey HK Cheng’s disciplinary record and mitigating factors. Jockey HK Cheng was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, with effect from Monday, 20th February 2017 and to expire on Monday, 19th June 2017, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was also fined the sum of RM20,000/- He was advised of his right of appeal. (12.10pm)

Trainer Bonny Ng was advised to inform the Stewards if there is a significant change in the riding tactics adopted in accordance with MRA Rule 35(8), failing which, action may be taken against him in future.

Jockey HK Cheng subsequently exercised his right of appeal for a stay of sentence. The Stewards after careful consideration, granted him the stay of sente nce. The appeal will be heard on a date to be fixed.
