BALBOA which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BALBOA (F Yap) was slow into stride.

JACKWIN (SU Lim) jumped away awkwardly.

Post-race veterinary examinations of KING SAVINSKY (S Salee), APROBACION  (App KC Tham), BALBOA and SHARP KNIGHT (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that APROBACION returned having cast its near fore and off hind plates.

RACE 2 (R508)  CLASS 4  – 1600m(lc) – PANSY HANDICAP

Acting on veterinary advice that BLOOD ROYAL was suffering from colic, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2.14pm.  The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NATURE IS NATURE (HS Gill) and MISS STREISAND (App KC Wong) were slow to begin.

HALO INSPIRE (M Yusri) was slow into stride.

HUN YEANG VILLAGE (M Zairi) jumped awkwardly outwards, taking MULTIBLUE EAGLE (App P Mogun) wider.

Post-race veterinary examinations of IDYLLIC SCENERY (Z Khairil) and MISS STREISAND revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R509) CLASS 5  – 1400m(lc) – BLOODROOT HANDICAP

CHINESE STREET (J Mallyon) and RAMZES (F Yap)  were slow to begin.

PRINCE ISLANDER (Z Khairil) shifted in racing to the 1300M, resulting in FLY HIGH (App AK Lim) being taken in onto DEPUTY LAW (App S Saddam), which had to be steadied.   Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of PRINCE ISLANDER was shown the vision of the race and advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RAMZES, SEMIFREDDO (Y Aify), DEPUTY LAW and HANDSOME BOSS (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.  PRETTY ABLE (App KC Tham) returned with respiratory distress and as such, the mare will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.   RAMZES was impounded.

RACE 4 (R510)   OPEN MAIDEN – 1400m(lc) – REDBUD STAKES

COLD WAR, a course scratching as it had bruised both fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor GLORY KID was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

GHOST SPIRIT which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SHARP BLADE (App KC Wong) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

NASI LEMAK (S Sandana) jumped away awkwardly

FRASER (App AM Aizat) was slow to begin.

OVER LIMITS (App KC Tham) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

Racing to the 900M, PLATINUM LIFE (CK Tan) laid out and bumped EXPLOSIVE FORCE (App AK Lim).

FRASER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FRASER revealed no obvious abnormality and NOVA ACE (SU Lim) revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore.  As such, NOVA ACE will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 5 (R511)   CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc)  – YELLOW TRILLIUM HANDICAP

DON’T FORGET THIS (F Yap) was slow to begin.

VALBERRY (Z Khairil) raced wide from the 700M and until entering the straight.

App AK Lim, the rider of SGFIFTY reported that his mount could not handle the going.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SGFIFTY (App AK Lim) and VALBERRY (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines, the trainer of D’GREAT WALL into gelding’s improved performance today.  He stated that the gelding has been freshened up from spelling after its poor form and had been working well since.  His explanation was noted.

The Panel of Stewards also questioned Jockey Z Khairil and Trainer S Shanmugam, the rider and the trainer of VALBERRY into that mare’s performance today.  Trainer S Shanmugam stated that his instructions were good jump and sit midfield.  Jockey Z Khairil confirmed his instructions and stated that after settling midfield, the mare commenced to over-race and as a result, racing to the 800M, VALBERRY shifted out and he was caught wide for the remainder of the race.   He further stated that VALBERRY responded to his whip-riding only fairly.   His explanation was noted.

RACE 6 (R512)   CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc) – HELLEBORE HANDICAP

SCOTTIE (C Goon) jumped in at the start and bumped CASPER (App J Daniel) onto KING ROULETTE (SS Vanan) which lost its position.

Shortly after the start, KING ROULETTE (SS Vanan) was crowded for room by REAL HERO (J Mallyon).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey C Goon, the rider of SCOTTIE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that passing the 1000M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of REAL HERO, which was taken in onto THONG’S JIAQING (SU Lim), which had to be steadied and carried inward onto SUPER VICTORY (S Anandan) which had to be checked.   Jockey C Goon was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, with effect from Monday, 23rd April 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 29th April 2018, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his right of appeal (5.25pm).

Racing past the 1000M, KING ROULETTE which was over-racing, shifted out and at the same time, BLAZING STEED (App AK Lim) shifted in, resulting in KING ROULETTE having to be steadied.  App AK Lim, the rider of BLAZING STEED was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.

CIVIL UNION (S Salee) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App KC Wong and Jockey S Salee, the riders of ALIEN and CIVIL UNION  respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. 

App CK Khaw, the rider of TEEN ANGEL reported that his mount could not handle the going.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLAZING STEED and ALIEN (App KC Wong) revealed that the geldings returned with respiratory distress and broken-winded respectively.  As such, both geldings will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CIVIL UNION revealed no obvious abnormality. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TEEN ANGEL returned having cast its near fore plate.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE TAKEN FROM “SUPER WINNER” WHICH FINISHED FIRST IN RACE 4 (R287) ENRICH STAKES A – 1100M(str) – AUSTRALIA STAKES, 2nd DAY, SUNDAY, 4th MARCH 2018, PERAK MARCH MEETING 2018, WHEN IT WAS FOUND POST-RACE POSITIVE TO “TESTOSTERONE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS.

The Panel of Stewards on Monday, 16th April 2018 concluded an Inquiry into the above matter.

Evidence were taken from Trainer N Azman, the trainer of SUPER WINNER, PRTC Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Dr. Reza Singam and Ms Chan Sue Hay, Analyst, Usains Biomics Laboratory.

Trainer N Azman pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he, as the trainer and person responsible for presenting SUPER WINNER to run in the above race, which finished 1st and its post-race sample coded “24015” subsequently upon analysis, had returned positive to “Testosterone”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Trainer N Azman’s mitigating factors and his record.  Trainer N Azman was disqualified for a period of three (3) months, effective Monday, 16th April 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 15th July 2018, both dates inclusive.  In addition, he was fined the sum of RM10,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Ten Thousand Only).  He was advised of his right of appeal (12.15pm)

In terms of MRA Rule 134(11), SUPER WINNER was disqualified from the above race and the results are amended accordingly.  SUPER WINNER is suspended from racing for a period of six (6) months, effective from Sunday, 4th March 2018 and to expire on Monday, 3rd September 2018, both dates inclusive and thereafter, will be subjected to provide a clearing sample before being declared to race again..


INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE TAKEN FROM “SCREAMING AMIGA” WHICH FINISHED 3rd PLACING IN RACE 4 (R313) RESTRICTED MAIDEN – 1200M(lc) – BLUE TOPAZ STAKES, 3rd  DAY, SATURDAY, 10th MARCH 2018, PERAK MARCH MEETING 2018, WHEN IT WAS FOUND POST-RACE POSITIVE TO “TESTOSTERONE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS.

The Panel of Stewards on Monday, 16th April 2018 concluded an Inquiry into the above matter.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Trainer N Azman’s mitigating factors and his record.   Trainer N Azman was disqualified for a period of three (3) months.  This penalty is to be served consecutively in respect of the earlier disqualification and will be effective from Monday, 16th July 2018 and to expire on Monday, 15th October 2018, both dates inclusive.  In addition, he was also fined the sum of another RM10,000/- (Ringgit Malaysia Ten Thousand Only).  He was advised of his right of appeal (1.00pm).

In terms of MRA Rule 134(11), SCREAMING AMIGA was disqualified from the above race and the results are amended accordingly.   SCREAMING AMIGA is suspended from racing for a period of six (6) months, effective from 10th March 2018 and to expire on 9th September 2018, both dates inclusive and thereafter, will be subjected to provide a clearing sample before being declared to race again.

Trainer N Azman was allowed fourteen (14) days in which to wind-up his stable affairs.


RACE 1 (R473)  CLASS 5 – 1400m(lc) – FUKUOKA HANDICAP –

1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 14th APRIL 2018 – PERAK APRIL MEETING 2018

The Panel of Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PRINCE ISLANDER, ridden by Jockey R Woodworth and trained by Trainer K Coetzee in the above race.

Jockey R Woodworth explained that after being slow to begin, he urged PRINCE ISLANDER forward and then racing from the 1000M to the 800M, the horse had to be steadied on several occasions and on each time, it threw its head up.  Jockey R Woodworth further stated that in the straight at about the 200M, he was disappointed for a run when PHILIP (App AK Lim) shifted in and DUE HOME (J De Souza) shifted out and he had to check.   Shortly thereafter, approaching the winning post, he again had to check PRINCE ISLANDER when DUE HOME rolled out.

Trainer K Coetzee explained that from his observations, racing to the 1000M, the pace slacken and that resulted in PRINCE ISLANDER getting its head up on several occasions racing to the 800M.   He also added that PRINCE ISLANDER had no luck in the straight.

After considering their explanations tendered, the Panel of Stewards took no further action. 


RACE 9 (R481)   CLASS 4 – 1400m (sc) – OSAKA HANDICAP

1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 14th APRIL 2018 – PERAK APRIL MEETING 2018

The Panel of Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ULTRA HERO, ridden by Jockey R Woodworth and trained by Trainer N Azman in the above race.

Trainer N Azman submitted a letter that his instructions were to be forward.  Jockey R Woodworth stated that after a good jump, ULTRA HERO had raced forward, however,  showed no pace from the 1200M to the 600M and lost ground, despite his urging.  He further explained that from the 600M, he commenced to ride forward and when he placed ULTRA HERO under the whip on entering the straight, the gelding responded fairly.   His explanations were noted, however he was advised to ride all his mounts in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RUN BABY RUN (C404) had bled during the above trial and as this is its second consecutive bleeding attack, the horse will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
