The Stewards permitted Jockey R Shafiq to replace Jockey S Anandan as the rider of DARK EXPRESS as the latter was medically stood down.

BASTION (SS Vanan) was slow into stride.

DELTA WING (J Low) lost its position shortly after the start when BIG GHOST (App S Saddam) shifted in.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RIGHT PARTNER (CK Tan) and BIG GHOST revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R561)  CLASS 5 (A) –  1200M

BULL SPUR, a course scratching as it had cellulitis off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT WORLD which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

POLO TYCOON (S Ruzaini) which was kicked behind the barriers, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

HUN YEANG VILLAGE (SS Vanan) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

HEART FEELING (App A Azizi) jumped away awkwardly, threw its head up and lost ground. 

MAGICAL PARK (CK Tan) was slow to begin.

A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT WORLD (R Shafiq) revealed no obvious abnormality. 

Jockey F Yap, the rider of ULTIMATE HERO, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.  The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of HUN YEANG VILLAGE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 1000M, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of CLASSIC KING (App S Saddam) which had to be checked and was taken inwards and bumped RAMIFICATIONS (J Low).

  

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SS Vanan’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and his riding record.  As Jockey SS Vanan held a jockey’s licence at the Penang and Perak Turf Clubs only, he was suspended from riding in races for the period of Monday, 6th May 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 26th May 2019, both days inclusive, being 2 Malaysian race days which is Perak Race Meeting on 25th and 26th May 2019.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3.05pm).

MESSI (F Yap) was slow to begin.

RICH AND SMART (C Goon) and MESSI both showed no early pace despite being urged.

A post-race veterinary examination of APROBACION (J De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R563) CLASS 5 (A)  – 1200M

SNOW DANCER which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of blinkers on CIRCUIT WINNER              (R Shafiq) within the stipulated time.

MR DREYFUSS (F Yap) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride, then raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

MR WHYTE (M Hanif) had to check racing to the 250M to avoid the heels of CHERISH         (J Low) and MILITARY STAR (SS Vanan) which were taken out when MYSTICAL STAR (App R Ruwaidy) shifted out and shortly afterwards, OVER LIMITS (App CK Khaw) shifted in.  As a consequence, MR WHYTE which was following had to check and shift out to obtain clear running and in so doing, bumped SNOW DANCER (J De Souza) wider.  App CK Khaw, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  App R Ruwaidy, in the presence of his Master, Trainer C Robert, was also shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MIROTIC (App S Rosmizan) and EASTWOOD    (Y Aify) both returned having cast their off fore plate and off hind plate respectively.

A post-race veterinary examination of MR DREYFUSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

The State of Track was upgraded to ‘YIELDING” after the running of this race.

RACE 5 (R564) CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M

PURE JUSTICE and BELLUS WONDER, both course scratchings as they had respiratory infection and was sore off fore tendon respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MAZANDARAN (F Yap) was leaning on the outside barrier when the gates were released and jumped away awkwardly and shortly afterwards, was brushed by JUTSU (App S Saddam).

I AM MIDAS (App J Daniel) was fractious in the barrier and jumped away awkwardly.

ALL SERENE (C Goon) over-raced and got its head up from shortly after the start until about the 800M.

JUTSU raced wide from the 500M until entering the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FIESTY LEO (R Shafiq), ANGHIARI (HK Cheng) and MAZANDARAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R565) CLASS 4 (A)  – 1300M

IDEAL GUIDE, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore suspensory, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

OLIVER and FUNKADELIC both course scratchings as they had a sore back and colic respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockeys R Shafiq and S Salee to ride WINGED FOOT and GENERAL TYCOON respectively.

PACHELBEL’S CANON (App S Saddam) was checked behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

INDOMITABLE SPEED (J Low) had to check at about the 1200M when PACHEBEL’S CANON was taken in by FOR FUN ONLY (App J Daniel) and as a result, ASTRO FAME (App S Rosmizan) had to check to avoid the heels of PACHEBEL’S CANON and shifted out and bumped BATTLE HORSE (M Hanif).  ASTRO FAME continued to over-race for some distance.

App S Saddam, the rider of PACHEBEL’S CANON and Jockey M Hanif, the rider of BATTLE HORSE reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of PACHEBEL’S CANON revealed no obvious abnormality.  BATTLE HORSE returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BRISTOL DIAMOND (CK Tan), FAT POWER (App CK Khaw) and CIZEN (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality

RACE 7 (R566) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M

CHAMPAGNE REIN, a course scratching as it was bruised left hip (float injury), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

THUNDERSTRUCK and RUSTY BROWN which were both down 16kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission for Jockey HK Cheng to ride 1½kg over on SUPER HARD  within the stipulated time.   

THUNDERSTRUCK (CK Tan) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start and showed no early pace despite being urged.

TURQUOISE KING (App CK Khaw) and HAPPY BABY (C Goon) were both slow into stride and showed no early pace despite being urged.

PLATOON (J Low) hung out at the 800M taking PULAU PINANG (App S Saddam) wide which continued to race wide until entering the straight.

UNCHAINED MELODY (App CT Lee) raced onto the heels of RUSTY BROWN (J De Souza) at the 100M and had to check inwards to obtain a clear run.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that WINDCHASER (App L De Souza) broke down after the Winning Post.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that WINDCHASER  ruptured its near fore suspensory ligament and was humanely euthanized.

Post-race veterinary examinations of PULAU PINANG and THUNDERSTRUCK revealed no obvious abnormality.  THUNDERSTRUCK which raced poorly will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT OPULENT (R Shafiq) laid in at the 250M at the same time as SATELLITE TURBO (S Ruzaini) laid out, resulting in both horses bumping on 2 occasions.

A post-race veterinary examination of ARMY OF ONE (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.  ARMY OF ONE which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

PNTC VETERINARY REPORT – TUESDAY, 30TH APRIL 2019

A post-race veterinary examination was requested on RUN CHEETAH RUN on 30th April 2019 and it was established by the Veterinary Surgeon that the gelding was trotted lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.


PNTC TRACKWORK – TUESDAY, 30TH APRIL 2019

Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for allowing D’GREAT WORLD (W561) to do two rounds of slow work on a track which was designated for fast work at 7.10 am on 30th April 2019.


WITHDRAWAL OF APPEAL AGAINST THE ONE YEAR DISQUAIIFICATION AND RM20,000/ FINE UNDER MRA RULE 44(8) AS READ WITH MRA RULE 44(8)(a) IN CONECTION WITH THE RIDING AND HANDLING OF “CASTLE CHOICE” RIDDEN BY JOCKEY AM AIZAT IN RACE 4 (R120) CLASS 4(B) – 1200M, 1ST DAY, SUNDAY, 27TH JANUIARY 2019, PENANG JANUARY/FEBRUARY MEETING 2019

On Thursday, 2nd May 2019, Jockey AM Aizat applied to withdraw his appeal with regards to the above.

On Sunday, 5th May 2019, the PNTC Racing Stewards considered the matter and acceded to his request.   The penalty of one year disqualification (effective Sunday, 17th March 2019 and to expire on 16th March 2020, both dates inclusive) and the fine of RM20,000/- stands. 

The appeal deposit was forfeited.


GENERAL REPORT – PRTC

HEARING OF AN APPEAL BY VISITING APPRENTICE JOCKEY P MOGUN AGAINST THE ONE (1) YEAR DISQUALIFICATION IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS, WHEN FOUND GUILTY FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 47(1) PUNISHABLE UNDER MRA RULE 47(2) AND ONE YEAR DISQUALIFICATION FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 152(3)(a) TO BE SERVED CONCURRENTLY

The Perak Turf Club Appellate Panel heard the above appeal on Tuesday, 30th April 2019.

After hearing and considering all submissions from Trainer S Cook, master of App P Mogun,  App P Mogun and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr. Philip Anderson, the Appellate Panel amended the findings of the Panel of Stewards on the sentences given.  The Appellate Panel amended the penalty of one (1) year disqualification each for both charges to a two-month suspension for both charges with effect from Monday 4th March 2019 and to expire on Friday, 3rd May 2019, both dates inclusive.   In addition, App P Mogun was fined the sum of RM1,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit: One Thousand Only) for both charges.   The appeal deposit is refunded.

PERAK TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2019

The report dated 3rd May 2019 (V19/055) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 54 bottles of coded urine samples and 54 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 21st April 2019 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

TUESDAY, 30 APRIL 2019, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL

A post-trial veterinary examination of SLING SHOT revealed that it bled and will be barred from racing for a period of six (6) months under MRA Rule 92(5) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-trial veterinary examination of ALLIED POWER revealed that it bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-trial veterinary examination of NADESIKO JAPAN revealed that it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and lame off fore, and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.


TUESDAY, 30 APRIL 2019, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER PRACTICE

ZENZERO which returned with lameness, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

ENCOSTA ZONE which could not be boxed, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again.


ADDENDUM

RACE 3 (R426) CLASS 4 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 7 APRIL 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB

TRIPLE ONE STAR and MARY KING which were beaten 18 1/4 and 21 lengths respectively, will each be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having poor performances.
