The Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with International Medical University (IMU) on 9 January 2024, providing an opportunity for SLTC Veterinary Department’s National Equine Hospital to teach, exchange materials and expertise in developing the Bachelor of Bio Veterinary Science programme at IMU.

The MOU signifies SLTC’s first collaboration with a private university. This collaboration is expected to further improve the standards of Veterinary teaching in Malaysia where students will be exposed to variety of clinical cases as well as state of the art diagnostics and treatments at the National Equine Hospital.

The National Equine Hospital at SLTC, comprised of trained and experienced animal health professional provide wide range of services such as Primary Equine Health, Specialized Equine Healthcare, Ambulatory Veterinary Services, Hospitalization and Referral Veterinary Services.

IMU embarked on the development of the Bio Veterinary Science programme in 2022 and reached out to partners generous enough to provide their facilities for student internship and learning experience. This novel programme is part of IMU’s transformative initiatives to embrace the One Health concept to pursue optimal health for people, animals, and the environment.

The event which was held at the Club was attended by senior management team from IMU and SLTC. Group Managing Director of IMU, Professor Gerard George and SLTC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim were the signatories of the Memorandum.

Also present were Vice Chancellor of IMU, Professor Abdul Aziz Baba, Director of Industrial Partnership & Engagement of IMU, Mr Ridzuan Repin, Committee Member of SLTC, Mr Mahendran Ponniah and CEO of Lembaga Totalisator Malaysia, Puan Nor Hashimah.
