Titan Pegasus stands tall in Tabcorp Trophy
KUALA LUMPUR: Sep 16 , 2023
After two changes of name and moving stables several times, TITAN PEGASUS is finally finding the luck to move up the ranks.
The Australian gelding, who cost A$220,000 an unraced two-year-old and was named Sahabat, had a change of trainer after arriving in Singapore in early 2020 before making his debut later in the year.
The son of Foxwedge scored back-to-back wins the following year but failed to make any headway after that, even with another change of trainer late last year before moving to Malaysia.
He won first-up for trainer Stephen Cook last February. But after one more unplaced run, he came under newly-licensed trainer Mogana Selvan who was former assistant to Cook.
Under Selvan, the six-year-old has made further headway with three wins and two thirds from five starts.
An all-the-way winner over 1200m on this track last month when ridden by Md Khairil Zulkiflee for the first time, TITAN PEGASUS repeated the feat today.
“I knew he would win a Cup race someday and he did today. I am very proud of this and I would like to thank my team for the good work.”
“Despite a rise of 4kg in the handicap, he backed it up and won well,” said Khairil who went on to score on XANTHOS in the next event.
The double brought his tally to 10 for the season.
