The STC Equestrian and Sports Centre started the first public riding centre in the country in 1994 with the aim of offering affordable horse riding lessons to the children and community at large. For the last decade, the riding centre has grown and expanded to accommodate all equestrian disciplines such as dressage, show jumping, eventing and combined driving.
Today, the school has 45 riding horses/ponies for either advanced or beginner levels, first-class stables and good training facilities. The training facilities include two international arenas, a derby and cross country ground, which enable our students to train for competitions. For beginners, training is conducted at the three smaller rings for safe riding. At the STC Equestrian Centre, students are provided with the advantage of enjoying their rides or go hacking within the expansive area of 255 acres surrounding the riding school.
Besides being a centre for learning riding, the STC Equestrian Centre in collaboration with the Malaysian Equine Council also conducts education and training programmes such as Basic Horse Management Course, National Orientation Course, Senior Horse Management Certificate Course, National Coaches Accreditation Scheme for instructors and Courses for Farriers.
The centre also carries out other development programmes of the Malaysian Equine Council, like the Pony Club and the Riding in Schools Programme. These activities aim at reaching out to the general public to promote broad base participation.
The centre is committed towards the development of equestrian sports in the country and will constantly hold prestigious equestrian events such as National Horse Shows, Equestrian Championships featuring World Cup South East Asia for Show Jumping and the South East Asia Eventing League in its quest to develop future equestrian athletes for the country.
The centre was also used as venue for the SEA Games XI, equestrian competition in 2001.
