STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT

PENANG APRIL/MAY MEETING 2019 – 2ND DAY, SUNDAY,

RACE 1 (R533) CLASS 5 (A)  – 1100M

CAPE LINCOLN which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

MASTER JIANGMEN (App L De Souza) was slow to begin.

MYSTICAL STAR (App CT Lee) and HENNESSY DRAGON (Z Khairil) brushed at the 1000M.

LIKA TIGER (App WW Cheah) had to check and lost its position racing to the 800M when MYSTICAL STAR which was racing tight on the inside of HENNESSY DRAGON rolled in slightly.  The Stewards showed App WW Cheah, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, and App CT Lee, in the presence of his Master, Trainer HS Lim the vision of the incident and found no one rider to be responsible but did advise App CT Lee to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. 

The whip of Jockey Z Khairil (HENNESSY DRAGON) broke during the race.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of RED RACKHAM reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of CHERON WARRIOR (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer S Ellis was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for SCORPION KING (S Ruzaini).

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUCCESSION (KC Wong), DESTINY KNIGHT          (HK Cheng) and SCORPION KING revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R535) CLASS 4 (B)  – 1200M

D’GREAT ACE which was up 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

STAR KING (S Ruzaini) was slow to begin.

SECKILL (C Goon) had to be steadied shortly after the start when racing in tight galloping room between TARZAN BOY (R Shafiq) which shifted out, and KUTTNER (HK Cheng) which shifted in.  Thereafter, SECKILL lost ground.

TARZAN BOY was taken wide by HARVEYWALLBANGER (App L De Souza) from the 700M and raced wide until entering the straight.

FRANKLY MY DEAR (M Yusri) had to steady off the heels of MORE POWER (App WW Cheah) at the 250M and shifted out for clear running.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TARZAN BOY, HARVEYWALLBANGER, SECKILL and D’GREAT ACE (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R536) CLASS 4 (A)  – 1200M

MONTAIGNE which was down 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Jockey CK Tan, the rider of BELT AND ROAD, lost the use of his near side iron for a short distance after jumping away.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BELT AND ROAD returned having cast its near fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FAT POWER (J Low), MONTAIGNE (C Goon) and FUNKADELIC (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The State of Track was upgraded to “GOOD” after the running of this race.

RACE 5 (R537) NOVICE (SW)  – 1200M

CIRCUIT WINNER, a course scratching as it was suffering from thrush infection on the off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GOLD SEAL which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SHREDDER (App S Rosmizan) had to steady and lost its position racing to the 1000M when tightened for room by ACE’S WILD (App CK Khaw) which was taken in by CASTLE CHOICE (App CT Lee).  App CT Lee was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

At the 800M, HUN YEANG SQUARE (SS Vanan) had to check to avoid the heels of SHREDDER.

ACE’S WILD was racing in tight galloping room between MISE EN GARDE (Z Khairil) and LIM’S EVOLUTION (Y Aify) from the 150M and brushed MISE EN GARDE on several occasions and raced in restricted room to the end of the race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HUN YEANG SQUARE returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CASTLE CHOICE and GOLD SEAL (App R Ruwaidy) revealed no obvious abnormality.  ACE’S WILD returned cut into near hind tendon.

RACE 6 (R538) BANDED 62 – 89 (SW) – 1400M

SATELLITE BOY and LIM’S CASINO which were both down 15kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Trainer BT Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission for Jockey Z Khairil to ride 1½kg over on LIM’S CASINO within the stipulated time.   

BEST TOTHELIGN (J De Souza) stood when the gates were released and was slow to begin.

NOVA FALCON (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

LIM’S CASINO hung out racing to the 800M and as a consequence, D’GREAT VULTURE (KC Wong) was forced to race wide until entering the straight. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT VULTURE and SATELLITE BOY (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FLYING DARCI (CK Tan) returned having cast its off fore plate and off hind plate.

RACE 7 (R539) Banded 62 – 89 (SW) – 1400M

STAR INVINCIBLE, a course scratching as it had sustained a laceration wound at the forehead, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SILVER WIND (CK Tan) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

ANONYMOUS (S Salee) was slow into stride.

EASTER MATE (KC Wong) had to check shortly after the start to avoid the heels of HARBOUR APPROACH (Y Aify).  Jockey Y Aify was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

ANONYMOUS raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ANONYMOUS and EASTER MATE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RUN CHEETAH RUN which was up 31kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BIG BUS (C Goon) reared as the gates were released and lost ground.

BLACK GHOST (Y Aify) shifted in on jumping away and as a result, GORDON G (J Low) had to be checked to avoid the heels of BLACK GHOST and lost ground.

RUN CHEETAH RUN (KC Wong) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

POWER EXPRESS (M Yusri) laid in at the 150M and bumped WINTERFELL (App L De Souza) and over the concluding stages of the race, WINTERFELL laid out and bumped POWER EXPRESS.

RUN CHEETAH RUN which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT TALENT (R Shafiq) and EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.
