RACE 4 (R1375)       CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

This race was rescheduled to start at 3:10pm.

MEGUSTO (App S Zulfikri) was slow to find its stride.

Approaching the first bend, ARLO (SS Vanan) was over-racing, green and shifted out.

At about the 300M, PERFECT PRIZE (App L De Souza) commenced to lay out under pressure and crossed BOOSTER (J De Souza) when not fully clear causing that horse to take a check in response. At about the 200M, PERFECT PRIZE continued to lay out and forced POKEMON BABY (App AK Lim) wide and in the last 100M, PERFECT PRIZE and POKEMON BABY crowded each other and made sustained contact.

An objection was lodged by Trainer WC Lim and App AK Lim, the Trainer and rider of POKEMON BABY respectively, placed second, against PERFECT PRIZE (App L De Souza) being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference at about the 200M and from the 100M to the winning post.

After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App L De Souza, the rider of PERFECT PRIZE, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 200M, he allowed his horse to shift out when insufficiently clear, causing BOOSTER to check. He then continued to allow his horse to shift out causing POKEMON BABY to be taken to the outside.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 6 November 2017 and to expire on 18 November 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:35pm).

SHARON’S STAR (App A Thamil) shifted inwards under pressure in the last 200M.

LUCKY SIXTYSIX (C Goon) was forced to race wide throughout.

App L De Souza who rode his 10th winner on PERFECT PRIZE in this race, would only be entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Monday, 30 October 2017.

In the last 100M, JERAM VILLAGE shifted in under pressure and caused SCRAT (TK Barnabas) to be steadied approaching the line. The Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a date to be fixed.

The Stewards questioned Trainer BT Lim and App WK Lee, the Trainer and rider of LIM’S ADMIRAL, into the disappointing performance of the gelding.
