After jumping slowly, WILDFIRE (HK Cheng) was crowded between FLYING SHADOW (SU Lim) and MAJOR GREEN (R Rueven) and had to be restrained.  WILDFIRE then threw its head significantly and was taken wide. Jockey HK Cheng, when questioned, confirmed that he wished to be racing in a prominent position close to the pace but after being crowded, WILDFIRE reacted violently with its head and he had been forced to take the gelding wider on the track.

Following the running of this race, Jockey HK Cheng was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for the remainder of the race today. Jockey HK Cheng was advised by the Stewards that he will require a specific fitness clearance prior to riding in races again.
