RACE 1 (R522) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)
Acting on veterinary advice that LADY LIBERTY (J Shankar) had sustained a cut on the near stifle (float injury), the mare was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 11:15am. LADY LIBERTY will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
After being placed in the stalls, SONG KID (App CK Khaw) was fractious and dislodged App CK Khaw. The gelding lost its bridle and escaped through the back gates. SONG KID was captured, rebridled, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
FULL BET (App K Pavinthran) was slow into stride.
EMPEROR WARRIOR (Y Aify) which was standing awkwardly, missed the start.
Shortly after the start, BARKER ROAD KID (App A Suriya) shifted in, crowding D’GREAT ELEGANCE (J De Souza) which threw its head when steadying.

RACE 2 (R523) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)
RED RACKHAM (App N Varmah) jumped with its head in the air, losing ground.
WASHINGTON (J Low) raced fiercely in the early stages, and was obliged to travel wide with Jockey J Low losing his whip at the winning post.
In the early stages, SPIN FIRE (HS Gill) raced fiercely.
NOVA DASHING (J De Souza) was ridden wide throughout. The Stewards questioned Jockey J De Souza related to his riding of NOVA DASHING. He advised that the gelding had raced keenly in the early stages, and he had been unable to secure a position in the field and with cover, considering its poor barrier. The Stewards advised Jockey J De Souza that they considered he should have made a more significant attempt to ride NOVA DASHING in a diligent manner.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that RED RACKHAM returned with a cut on the the near fore pastern. RED RACKHAM will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
RACE 3 (R524) CLASS 4 (B) – 110M (SHORT COURSE)
HYDRANT (App A Suriya) stood flat-footed when the start was effected, thereby losing considerable ground. Trainer C Leck was advised that HYDRANT will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.
ONE FOR ALL (J Daniel) was slow to begin, then had tended to hang out, racing wide. The saddle on the gelding slipped backwards at the turn into the straight.
KHUDAWAND (J Low) was slow into stride.
PLATOON (J De Souza) raced wide in the middle stages.
HYDRANT hung inwards in the straight.
At the 200M, MAREA NEGRO (SU Lim) steadied when PLATOON rolled inwards.

RACE 4 (R525) CLASS 4 (A) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE)
RUNNING FLAME (S Ruzaini) was reluctant to proceed to the start.
PRESTO (App K Pavinthran) was slow into stride.
PANCA DELIMA (KC Wong) dipped on jumping, travelling extremely wide until straightening. In light of this, Trainer AB Abdullah was advised that PANCA DELIMA will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of PANCA DELIMA revealed no significant finding.
Near the 800M, POMP (App CK Khaw) was crowded when ELITE GENERAL (C Goon) rolled in, tightening LINCOLN MOONLIGHT (J Low).
BIG LIGHTNING (J Shankar) raced wide throughout.
App AR Aiman (MISE EN GARDE) dropped his whip at the 350M.
Near the 200M, THANK YOU BOSS (App S Uzair) had to steady when HARVEYWALLBANGER (AK Lim) rolled in. Jockey AK Lim was reprimanded for failing to straighten at this stage.
GOLDEN SLAM (Y Aify) raced fiercely in the early stages and when struck with the whip at the 200M, shifted in quickly and was then blocked, and steadied from the heels of THANK YOU BOSS at the 75M.
A post-race veterinary examination of BIG LIGHTNING revealed no significant finding.

RACE 5 (R526) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)
ARROGATE ACHIEVER (App A Suriya) was slow to begin.
WINGED FOOT (KC Wong) dwelt at the start and struck the gate on jumping, losing considerable ground. Jockey KC Wong, when questioned, advised that he had pushed the gelding in the early stages but it had showed no speed. He also said that he was blocked on several occasions when attempting a run in the straight. In light of WINGED FOOT’s starting manner, Trainer R Lines was advised that WINGED FOOT will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.
CHINO DINERO (App M Lukman) raced wide in the middle stages.
TEN EMPEROR (R Rueven) had to travel wide from the 800M.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SATTAR (S Ruzaini) returned with a cut on the near hind leg. SATTAR will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of CHINO DINERO revealed that it returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of TEN EMPEROR (R Rueven) and LIM’S CASINO (HS Gill) revealed no significant finding.

RACE 6 (R527) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)
App S Zulfikri (CONDADO) was unable to make the weight on CONDADO, and subsequently replaced with App CK Khaw. In light of this, Trainer S Siva, the Employing Trainer of App S Zulfikri, was advised that App S Zulfikri would not be permitted to accept any rides at less than 55kgs.
STAR INVINCIBLE (J De Souza) veered inwards at the start, bumping HORSEH (HS Gill) which lost ground and then was inclined to hang out, racing wide.
THE CROWN JEWEL (S Ruzaini) and GOOD INTENTIONS (J Shankar) bumped on jumping.
Near the 650M, BLUE HAWAII (App N Varmah) laid outwards causing STAR INVINCIBLE to be tightened and steadied on the inside of SUPER HERO (KC Wong).
MARTIN VJ (Y Aify) was ridden wide throughout. Jockey Y Aify explained that from its wide barrier (11), he had been unable to secure a passage and further that MARTIN VJ was reluctant to go close to the horses on his inside. A post-race veterinary examination of MARTIN VJ revealed no significant finding.
A post-race veterinary examination of BUFFALO SOLDIER which was distanced, revealed no significant finding. In light of this, Trainer SY Lim was advised that BUFFALO SOLDIER will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having poor performance.

FARDUS (Y Aify) was slow to begin.
GRAND KNIGHT (App L De Souza) raced wide near the lead for the entire race.
TARZAN BOY (J De Souza) returned with severe heat stress. TARZAN BOY will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 10 (R531) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE)
ELITE ROCKET (HS Gill) and AIR POWER (App CK Khaw) bumped on jumping.
MAGICAL TALENT (J De Souza) and VELLENEX GENERAL (App N Varmah) were slow into stride.
YULONG HOLY FLYING (S Ruzaini) raced wide in the middle stages.
Trainer SY Lim was questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics with MUSANG KING (KC Wong). He stated that MUSANG KING missed the jump at its previous start and as such, was ridden rearward. He considered there was no pace in today’s race, and he had instructed the gelding to be ridden handy, he was of the opinion that MUSANG KING had been able to lead, having jumped well. Trainer SY Lim was advised that he must maintain a consistent racing pattern with all his horses.

RACE 7 (R488) SUPREME A – 1200M (SHORT COURSE), SUNDAY, 2 AUGUST 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST SPECIAL MEETING 2020
Jockey R Rueven (AFFLECK) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.
GENERAL REPORT(S) – PNTC
STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT- WEDNESDAY 5TH AUGUST 2020
INQUIRY INTO JOCKEY HK CHENG RIDING “BILLY MOJO” WHICH FINISHED UNPLACED IN RACE 3 (R446) ON SATURDAY, 25TH JULY 2020 AND “PACIFIC MYSTICAL” WHICH WON IN RACE 2 (R452) ON SUNDAY, 26TH JULY 2020, BOTH THE RUNNERS WERE SOLELY OWNED BY HIS SISTER-IN-LAW, MS CHERELLE GOH
The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter today (Wednesday, 5th August 2020) at The Perak Turf Club.
Evidence was taken from Trainer HY Cheng and Jockey HK Cheng, the trainer and rider of BILLY MOJO and PACIFIC MYSTICAL.
Jockey HK Cheng pleaded guilty to a charge in contravention to MRA Rule 46, in that he had ridden BILLY MOJO, which ran unplaced in Race 3 (R446) on Saturday, 25th July, 2020 during the Penang July Race Meeting 2020, which was solely owned by his sister-in–law Ms. Cherelle Goh and in so doing, he has committed an offence punishable under MRA Rule 46(7)(a).
Jockey HK Cheng pleaded guilty to a charge in contravention to MRA Rule 46, in that he had ridden PACIFIC MYSTICAL, which won in Race 2 (R452) on Sunday, 26th July, 2020 during Penang July Race Meeting 2020, which was solely owned by his sister-in-law Ms. Cherelle Goh and in so doing, he has committed an offence punishable under MRA Rule 46(7)(a).
When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey HK Cheng’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. Jockey HK Cheng was disqualified for a period of TWO (2) months for each charge with immediate effect from Wednesday, 5th August 2020 and to expire on Sunday, 4th October 2020 both days inclusive and to be served concurrently.
In addition, BIILY MOJO and PACIFIC MYSTICAL, which were entered and started in the above races in violation of MRA Rule 46, were disqualified from their respective races and the results will be amended accordingly. He was advised of his right to appeal (12.05pm).
POST RACE URINE:

PENANG TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2020
The report dated 6 August 2020 (V20/044) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 44 bottles of coded urine samples and 46 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 27 July 2020, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
