An objection was lodged by Jockey MM Firdaus (D’GREAT WIN), placed fourth, against LIM’S HOPEFULLY (HK Cheng), placed second, alleging interference at about the 200M. The Panel of Stewards overruled the objection.

On inquiry, Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of LIM’S HOPEFULLY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he bumped D’GREAT WIN on two (2) occasions near the 385M and again crowded and tightened that horse near the 225M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey HK Cheng’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 6 February 2023 and to expire on 12 February 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Shifted in slightly, crowding runner at the 1000M.

The Stewards, today, inquired into Jockey C Goon’s riding of BIG G in this race. Evidence was taken from Jockey C Goon and Trainer SY Lim, the rider and trainer of BIG G respectively.

After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of BIG G, the Stewards found Jockey C Goon guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that in the opinion of the Stewards, at about the 1000M mark, when on the inside of COLCHESTER, he unduly restrained, thereby positioning BIG G in a rearward position.

The Stewards took into consideration Jockey C Goon’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 30 January 2023 and to expire on 29 March 2023, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM20,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey R Rueven, the rider of SKYDANCE ECLIPSE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his horse to continue to shift, causing CHINESE TEA to be restrained close to the finish and shortly after the finish, caused CHEVAL RAPIDE to restrain from his heels, bumping heavily with WAR DRAGON causing that horse to bump ELITE REMARKABLE.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Rueven’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 6 February 2023 and to expire on 12 February 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Trainer F Maynard was reprimanded for misconduct under the provisions of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in the manner in which he spoke to an official whilst saddling SKYDANCE ECLIPSE and CHINESE TEA prior to this race.

On inquiry, it was established that LIMITLESS STOUT checked from the heels of GOOD FIGHT which had shifted out marginally at the 800M turn at the same time as TURF PRINCESS had shifted in, holding RONALDO’S DREAM tight. Jockey KC Tham was advised that he must exercise greater caution in future.

App K Pavinthran (WINNER’S EUPHORIA) was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride.

An objection was lodged by Jockey R Rueven (OISIN EXPRESS), placed second, against GOLDEN CHAMP (App R Nuqman) being declared the winner, alleging interference at about the 200M. The Panel of Stewards overruled the objection. Jockey R Rueven was advised that in the opinion of the Stewards, under the provisions of MRA Rule 122(3), his objection bordered on being frivolous.

On inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of MAGNUM KING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out and carrying OCEAN EXPRESS out causing it to be restrained from the heels of GOLDEN CHAMP.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period two (2) Malaysian race days, concurrent with any other penalty, with effect from 30 January 2023 and to expire on 5 February 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
