RACE 1 (R1535) CLASS 5 (B) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

BULLISH LUCK (J Low) which was standing awkwardly, was slow to begin.

STREET CHAMP (J De Souza) was slow to begin and was reluctant to race in the early stages.

PARISBAS (App A Zaimuddin) was ridden wide in the middle stages. App A Zaimuddin advised that he had been instructed to ride the gelding midfield, however, it had raced too fiercely and was inclined to lay outwards. Although accepting this, the Stewards advised App A Zaimuddin, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim, that he should ride every horse in a positive manner.

Passing the 300M, GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN (App M Lukman) rolled in, crowding PARISBAS.

BULLISH LUCK was inclined to lay out over the final 250M.

RACE 2 (R1536) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

JEFFREY (Z Khairil) jumped outwards, bumping SOON YOU THINK (HS Gill).

MONGOLIAN CHIEF (SU Lim) and BERLINETTA (App CK Khaw) bumped on jumping.

After jumping awkwardly, MEWTWO (C Goon) veered inwards quickly when struck with the whip and made contact with the running rail.

Near the 1000M, MEWTWO checked when crowded by TAKE A BOW (App P Deneskumar) and LIM’S MASTER (App A Zaimuddin) on his outside. On inquiry, it was established that TAKE A BOW which was racing fiercely, was inclined to lay inwards and had shifted away from SOON YOU THINK.

MYSTICAL STAR (KC Wong) raced wide in the middle stages.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of WIRA SAKTI (R Shafiq), Trainer S Dunderdale advised that WIRA SAKTI had been showing little in its races and he had added blinkers and tongue-tie to the gelding as it had previously raced with this equipment.

LINCOLN CITY (J De Souza) raced with blinkers as opposed to the incorrect race card notification.

Jockey Z Khairil (JEFFREY) was fined RM250/- for using his whip forward of the shoulder which is contrary to the provisions of MRA Rule 44(6)(c)(i).

RACE 3 (R1537) CLASS 4 (B) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

D’GREAT SWIFT (App L De Souza) and JJ STAR (J Low) were slow into stride.

Running to the 1000M, NEVERTHELESS (App J Daniel) raced fiercely.

At the 250M, HALO INSPIRA (HS Gill) rolled in, bumping TARZAN (Y Aify).

The saddle on DOUBLE RAINBOW (KC Wong) slipped backwards during running.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of HALO INSPIRE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of HALO INSPIRE revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R1538) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

D’GREAT EMPRESS (J Low) blundered at the start, losing ground.

MAI DARKO (App WW Cheah), BANGALORE (App N Varmah) and ROCKET FIGHTER (S Salee) were slow into stride.

CATAPULT (App L De Souza) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

On the winning post, KUTTNER (App CK Khaw) rolled in, crowding MAI DARKO.

The State of Track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAI DARKO returned having cast its off fore plate and D’GREAT EMPRESS returned with a cut to its off hock. D’GREAT EMPRESS will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

App L De Souza, the rider of CATAPULT, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of CATAPULT revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 5 (R1539) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

SAND BANK (J De Souza) veered inwards at the start, bumping D’GREAT LUCK (KC Wong) which lost ground.

ANDRE (App WW Cheah) was slow to begin.

App WW Cheah (ANDRE) dropped his whip at the 650M. He was fined the sum of RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

Passing the 250M, D’GREAT LUCK (KC Wong) rolled in, causing SATELLITE GOLDEN (AK Lim) to be steadied.

App R Nuqman, the rider of ELITE ROCKET, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim, was warned that he must not use his whip forward of the shoulder.

RACE 6 (R1540) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

SUPREME STAR cast its off fore plate at the start and had to be reshod. The gelding was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

TIC TAC TOE (C Goon) jumped outwards at the start, losing considerable ground and was reluctant to settle in the early stages.

SENA SIXTYNINE (App R Nuqman) jumped awkwardly, striking the gate and thereby lost ground.

In the early stages, BAKUTEH (S Muniandy) was forced to travel wide.

BRISTOL DIAMOND (App A Zaimuddin) was impeded when attempting a run behind REBEL FURY (App AR Aiman) between the 200M and the 100M.

RACE 7 (R1541) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

MACARTHUR (App S Rosmizan) shifted out shortly after the start causing LUWAK COFFEE (App A Zaimuddin) to be steadied outwards and inconvenienced RACE FOR FAME (KC Wong).

OK KID (App S Zulfikri) raced wide in the early stage. A post-race veterinary examination of OK KID revealed that the gelding bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

LUWAK COFFEE had to be taken wide in the straight to obtain a clear passage.

CONFLIGHT (S Muniandy) rolled in and bumped TRINITY GRACE (SU Lim) at the 100M. TRINITY GRACE then drifted out, carrying CONFLIGHT outwards. Jockey SU Lim was reminded of his obligations to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

SUN LION (App A Suriya) steadied off the heels of CELERITAS (App L De Souza) at the 25M.

A post-race veterinary examination of CELERITAS revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 8 (R1542) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

ROCK EAGLE (SU Lim) dwelt considerably at the start and refused to gallop in the early stages. In view of ROCK EAGLE’s starting record, the gelding will be required to pass 2 tests (1000M/vet from the starting stall tests at consecutive weekly intervals) before being declared to race again.

ZA’EEM (KC Wong) was slow into stride.

Jockey S Salee (SO THE THING) was questioned as to why he sat three (3) deep in a lead position. He advised that SO THE THING was a very speedy horse but he had been instructed, given the 1200M distance, to attempt to ride SO THE THING in a more settled manner. In jumping well, SO THE THING had over-raced and he had not shifted in as he believed he was not sufficiently clear of LUCKY MASTER (App R Nuqman) on his inside. Whilst accepting his explanation, the Stewards advised Jockey S Salee that in their opinion, he had ridden an ill-judged race by sitting wide when able to improve his position.

RACE 9 (R1543) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

App A Zaimuddin (BIG CENTURY) fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight. The Stewards permitted App L De Souza to be the rider of BIG CENTURY.

GOOD DEAL (S Anandan) was slow into stride.

NEVERSAYNEVER (Y Aify) and JUST DUIT (Z Khairil) raced wide in the middle stages.

HANDY BET (App WW Cheah) had to be steadied off the heels of NEVERSAYNEVER.

BORN A FIGHTER (KC Wong) was impeded on several occasions over the final 150M when the winner, KING COBRA (SU Lim) shifted ground.

RACE 10 (R1544) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

BARKER ROAD KID (App CK Khaw) dipped at the 300M.

When making ground, ELEGENT (C Goon) was carried inwards and had to be restrained off the heels of NOVA EAGLE (AK Lim) when GOOD VIBRATIONS (App L De Souza) shifted in onto TALISMAN (App S Uzair).

In the early stages, SHENBAO (Z Khairil) raced fiercely with its mouth opened and was then ridden wide. The Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into Jockey Z Khairil’s riding of SHENBAO.

An inquiry will be conducted into App S Zulfikri’s riding of SPARKLER in the straight.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 1 (R1517) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M (SHORT COURSE B), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 4 December 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into the running and handling of CONCORDE. Evidence was taken from Jockey AK Lim the rider of CONCORDE and Trainer S Siva, the representative of Trainer PS Kumaran, the Trainer of CONCORDE.

Jockey AK Lim stated that he had been unable to hold CONCORDE which was racing in Blinkers for the first time. He was unaware that he was so far in front but suggested that CONCORDE was travelling smoothly.

The Stewards were of the opinion that Jockey AK Lim should have made a more determined attempt to restrain CONCORDE and be more aware of the race pace, however considered that they could not substantiate a charge in terms of the Rules given CONCORDE’s racing history.

Trainer PS Kumaran will be advised that due to Jockey AK Lim’s admission that he could not adequately control CONCORDE, he will not be permitted to ride CONCORDE again in future. CONCORDE will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test with its specific gear before being declared to race again.

RACE 8 (R1524) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

App S Zulfikri, the rider of CONDADO, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, S Siva, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:

He restrained CONDADO between the 900M and the 600M, thereby losing ground behind PLACE YOUR BET;
On straightening, inside the 600M mark, he sat quietly and failed to ride CONDADO in a positive manner;
His riding out of CONDADO, with a tight rein in your right hand did not satisfactorily allow CONDADO to progress properly.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Zulfikri’s previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. App S Zulfikri was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 9 December 2019 and to expire on 8 February 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:37pm).

RACE 5 (R1521) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 4 December 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into an incident at the 700M in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockeys J De Souza and C Goon, the riders of RADICAL FORCE and ELITE GOLD respectively.

Jockey J De Souza, the rider of RADICAL FORCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he crossed in and caused ELITE GOLD to clip his horse’s heels causing that horse to blunder badly, dislodging Jockey C Goon, shortly after.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 9 December 2019 and to expire on 28 December 2019, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:06pm).

RACE 6 (R1522) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for BIG BUS dislodging Jockey HS Gill shortly after the start.

It was established that although LA FAMILIA (J De Souza) had shifted in at this stage, BIG BUS had been bumped outwards when FIGHTING WARRIOR (J Low) had shifted out and bumped DRAGON HIGH (S Muniandy) which in turn contacted BIG BUS which moved out onto the heels of LA FAMILIA.

The Stewards held no rider responsible.

RACE 7 (R1523) STAYER STAKES B – 1800M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into Jockey KC Wong’s riding style on STAR INVINCIBLE in the straight.

After reviewing six (6) race patrol films as supplied by Jockey KC Wong in support of his assertion that his left arm action was not inconsistent, the Stewards advised Jockey KC Wong that whilst accepting there were occasions on which he had adopted the same style, he was expected to ride in a manner which leaves no doubt as to his purpose.

The report dated 5 December 2019 (V19/154) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 30 bottles of coded urine samples and 30 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 1 December 2019, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
