RACE 1 (R1267)       CLASS 5 (B) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

CHAMPION FACE (J Low) and MACHO MAN (S Anandan) were both difficult to load. CHAMPION FACE and MACHO MAN will each be required to pass a 1000M/vet (from the starting stall) test before being declared to race again.

Jockey J Low, the rider of CHAMPION FACE, was reprimanded relating to his conduct in the stalls prior to the start.

CHAMPION FACE which was leaning in the stalls, jumped awkwardly, losing ground.

GHOST BAY (App R Nuqman) and COMMODORE LINCOLN (KC Wong) were both slow to begin.

MACHO MAN raced fiercely running to the first turn.

Near the 50M, the flap of the whip of Jockey Z Khairil (ANAK WARRIOR) came off. Shortly after, Jockey Z Khairil chose to discard his whip as he considered the defective whip was interrupting his riding rhythm.

Prior to the following race, the whips of all riders on the day were examined for Race 2.

VOLANTE GENERAL (App A Suriya) and SOON SEEKER (App P Deneskumar) were both slow into stride.

EASTER MATE (App WW Cheah) was ridden wide in the middle stages.

Trainer L Moy was questioned as to why NEW SENSATION (App S Uzair) led as opposed to its previous starts. He advised that he had instructed that NEW SENSATION to be ridden prominently last start with Blinkers on for the first time, however from its wide barrier, NEW SENSATION had been unable to secure a forward position. He was of the opinion that NEW SENSATION had been able to lead today primarily due to his inside stall, having secured the lead easily.

IRON GIANT (App N Varmah) raced fiercely in the early stages, getting its head up and from the 800M, hung outwards considerably. Trainer C Leck was advised that he must engage a senior rider for IRON GIANT in future.

Near the 400M, TEH TARIK (S Anandan) shifted out, crowding LIMITLESS STOUT (App CK Khaw) onto the hind-quarters of SELANGOR STAR (HS Gill) with LIMITLESS STOUT being restrained. On inquiry, Jockey S Anandan was reprimanded when the Stewards considered that they could not substantiate a charge of careless riding.

At the 300M, RUNNING FLAME (J De Souza) shifted out, bumping CONFEAT (O Chavez). Thereafter, RUNNING FLAME shifted in causing XENA (S Ruzaini) to be steadied.

MR CONNERY (J De Souza) was blocked for a clear run passing the 150M.

When questioned regarding his ride on TAUROS in the straight, Jockey R Shafiq advised that TAUROS was a “pick-up” ride and in his opinion, the gelding was resentful of racing in Blinkers. Although riding the gelding positively in the straight, TAUROS had an inclination to hang inwards and he had thus attempted to encourage the gelding by picking it up.

At the 1200M, Jockey S Ruzaini (STAR INVINCIBLE) was struck in the face by a clod of dirt, breaking his goggles. He was subsequently examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagements for the remainder of the races today.

Approaching the 1000M, I AM THE BOSS (App CK Khaw) blundered and shifted out severely, inconveniencing PLACE YOUR BET. I AM THE BOSS then shifted in, crowding HELLO BOSS (R Shafiq) in onto STAR INVINCIBLE. On inquiry, it was established that MAYBE (App P Deneskumar) steadied when the pace slowed and this caused I AM THE BOSS to be shifted out and initiate this incident. No rider could be held individually responsible in this matter.

Jockey AK Lim (D’GREAT LIGHT) dropped his off rein in the last 100M.

GOOD WARRIOR (R Shafiq) veered inwards on jumping, crowding TOTALITY (AK Lim) onto READY TO RULE (App L De Souza) and in turn causing SEGAR THE BEST (App R Nuqman) to steady. Jockey R Shafiq was warned that he must straighten his mount more quickly.

The saddle of NOVA DASHING (KC Wong) slipped back slightly near the 1000M.

In the early stages, GOOD WARRIOR raced fiercely.

SEGAR THE BEST raced wide in the middle stages.

When making ground quickly, GOOD DEAL (S Muniandy) had to be steadied when ELF’S DREAM shifted in passing the 250M, and checked when running onto the heels of UNION JAC (HS Gill) which shifted in.

In the middle stages, ALL MY EYE (S Muniandy) raced wide.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey KC Wong, the rider of YES BOSSY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding YES BOSSY at the 400M, he caused JUBILATION (App N Varmah) to be restrained.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 14 October 2019 and to expire on 27 October 2019, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:35pm).

Passing the 250M, IMMORTALITY (S Anandan) rolled in, bumping SMART MASTER (SU Lim).

Passing the 200M, BUKIT SUBANG (App S Zulfikri) crowded YES BOSSY. On inquiry, App S Zulfikri was reprimanded for failing to straighten BUKIT SUBANG at this stage.

When questioned as to why POWERFUL FIGHTER (App WW Cheah) led, Trainer R Lines advised that he could not identify a natural leader in the race and had instructed that POWERFUL FIGHTER be ridden prominently. He was satisfied that App WW Cheah had taken initiative when the pace was slow by leading, without using any energy.

RACE 9 (R1275)       CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

After being slow to being, MAHARIB (R Shafiq) raced fiercely and wide until straightening.

In the middle stages, SIX EMPIRE (SU Lim) and SONG KID (J De Souza) raced wide. When questioned, Jockey SU Lim advised that from his wide barrier, he had attempted to secure an inward passage but had been held wide by SONG KID (J De Souza) and when eased back, had again been impeded when that horse also steadied.
Near the 175M, ENDURANCE steadied when SONG KID shifted in.
