A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by App H Haikal, the rider of the fourth placed horse, NOVA FACTOR, against the winner, NO REGRETS (App SN Shiva) on the grounds of interference and intimidation from the 100M.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the marginal extent of the movement of NO REGRETS, the distance between NOVA FACTOR and NO REGRETS at the finish and that NO REGRETS had run on from behind NOVA FACTOR.

Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that for the above incident, NOVA FACTOR would have finished ahead of NO REGRETS, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand.

Additionally, the Panel of Stewards was of the opinion that the objection was frivolous and acting in terms of MRA Rule 122(3), the Objector (App H Haikal) was fined RM2000/-.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App A Azizi, the rider of VALERIE PEGASUS, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, NM Selvan, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding VALERIE PEGASUS in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WATCH OUT BOSS and NOVA FACTOR at approximately the 200M mark.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Azizi’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day on 24 February 2024. He was also fined RM1000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 7 (R0159) CLASS 4 A – 1400M (LC A), MONDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 18 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of QIJI ACHEEVA and took evidence from App A Azizi, the rider of QIJI ACHEEVA, in th presence of his Employing Trainer, NM Selvan who is also the Trainer of the QIJI ACHEEVA.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.

RACE 4 (R0516) OPEN MAIDEN – 1100M (SC A), MONDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 18 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of JAZZ BAND and took evidence from App M Ekdihar, the rider of JAZZ BAND, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, SY Lim and Trainer S Hamilton, the Trainer of JAZZ BAND.

The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. App M Ekdihar (JAZZ BAND) pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride his horse to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that in Race 4 run on Monday, 12 February 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, he failed to ride JAZZ BAND to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that he allowed his mount to shift out with no correction and instead encouraged it to race onto the heels of another runner resulting in JAZZ BAND having to ease and shift in, thereby prejudicing this gelding’s chances in the concluding stages of the race.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Ekdihar’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 19 February 2024 and to expire on 18 April 2024, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal (12:32pm).

RACE 7 (R0159) CLASS 4 A – 1400M (LC A), MONDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 18 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of SEMANTAN PRINCE and took evidence from App T Ammar, the rider of SEMANTAN PRINCE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, S Dunderdale who is also the Trainer of the SEMANTAN PRINCE.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.

RACE 8 (R0151) CLASS 4 A – 1100M (SC A), SUNDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Thursday, 15 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of D’GREAT JOURNEY and took evidence from Jockey S Zulfikri and Trainer EP Tan, the rider and Trainer of D’GREAT JOURNEY respectively, and App R Nuqman, the rider of PACIFIC DIAMOND.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.

RACE 2 (R0145) CLASS 5 A – 1200M (LC A), SUNDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Thursday, 15 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of TAKREEM and took evidence from Jockey A Suriya and Trainer AB Abdullah the rider and Trainer of the gelding respectively.

The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. Jockey A Suriya pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride his horse to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that in Race 2 run on Sunday, 11 February 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, he failed to ride TAKREEM satisfactorily with vigour, determination and urgency in the straight despite his mount in contention at the finish.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of ten (10) Malaysian race days with effect from 19 February 2024 and to expire on 31 March 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12:10pm).

RACE 9 (R0152) CLASS 4 B – 1100M (SC A), SUNDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Thursday, 15 February 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of HAPPY THIRTYNINE and took evidence from Jockey A Suriya, the rider of HAPPY THIRTYNINE.
