RACE 1 (R969)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1250M (LONG COURSE)

Shortly after the start, I’M COMING (App AB Riduan) veered inwards, crowding BOOM ALMIGHTY (App S Sia) which in turn caused KUBERA’S CHIEF (App R Nuqman) to throw its head when being steadied. App AB Riduan was reprimanded for shifting in at this stage.

Approaching the 950M, KUBERA’S CHIEF raced fiercely and hung outwards onto the heels of FRIDAY (C Goon).

Near the 650M, FRIDAY raced erratically and collapsed. A post-race veterinary examination of FRIDAY revealed that the gelding bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again. Jockey C Goon was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride today.

A post-mortem examination of I’M COMING which collapsed and expired after the race, will be conducted.

A post-race veterinary examination of BANGALORE revealed no significant finding.

GENERAL CHENG (KP Lim) returned with a laceration to its off hind leg. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of JET TWENTY (App WW Cheah) revealed that it returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Trainer MW Teh was advised that an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.

After jumping awkwardly, HANDSOME BOY (App AB Riduan) shifted in, crowding STAR FIFTYTWO (MM Firdaus).

WAIMEA (App S Uzair) raced erratically in the straight and laid in considerably over the final 50M.

RACE 4 (R972)         CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

Jockey J Low (JOCKEY KING) was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for weighing out without his stirrup irons. Trainer HY Cheng’s representative was warned that he must ensure all saddles presented are fully mounted.

LUCKY JUSTICE (J Daniel) veered outwards on jumping, bumping JOCKEY KING (J Low), causing it to lose ground.

READY TO SMILE (App WW Cheah) threw its head at the start. The Stewards inquired into App WW Cheah’s riding of READY TO SMILE. Trainer R Lines advised that he instructed that READY TO SMILE be ridden in a midfield position although the mare had raced on the pace but in a substantially weaker field at its previous start.

App WW Cheah stated that the mare had thrown its head badly when fly-jumping at the start and although attaining a midfield position, had continued to throw its head until the 800M. He had kept his hands down in an effort to have the mare settled in what he believed was a reasonable midfield position.

When questioned regarding his riding style in the straight, he stated that he had taken permission from his Employing Trainer, Mr R Lines to try a different style as he had been practicing an English style of riding. Mr R Lines agreed with this and advised that he was of the opinion that at no stage was App WW Cheah restraining READY TO SMILE and that whilst the style in this race was not consistent with his other riding, that he believed he had ridden the mare so as to be fully tested. A subsequent veterinary examination of READY TO SMILE at the stables ascertained that the mare had a sharp process to the pre-molar and first molar on the lower right hand side.

After a protracted inquiry, the Stewards gave App WW Cheah the benefit of the doubt but issued a warning that he must ensure that he rides in a manner that demonstrates that every mount is fully tested irrespective of the circumstances.

Trainer R Lines was advised that he must secure a veterinary certificate READY TO SMILE for of suitability before being declared to race again.

GUNFORHIRE (Y Aify) was ridden wide throughout.

FLASH ONE (J De Souza) drifted out over the concluding 75M and brushed with TRAFALGAR (S Ruzaini) near the 50M.

LUCKY JUSTICE returned having cast its off fore plate.

RACE 5 (R973)         OPEN MAIDEN – 1400M (LONG COURSE)

INVICTUS WARRIOR (HS Gill) was slow into stride and raced wide in the middle stages.

OISIN EXPRESS (L De Souza) veered inwards on jumping, bumping LION KING (J Low) in onto FLAMING PHOENIX which lost considerable ground.

AIR BOSS (S Ruzaini) raced wide throughout.

App A Suriya (WHITE RABBIT) dropped his near side rein near the 300M. This was referred to the Head of Apprentice School for remedial action.

LION KING laid inwards onto INVICTUS WARRIOR near the 250M.

The Stewards questioned Jockey MM Firdaus (FLAMING PHOENIX) related to his riding of FLAMING PHOENIX. It was confirmed that FLAMING PHOENIX had been bumped heavily at the start. Although Jockey MM Firdaus had wished to ride the filly midfield, it had been in a rearward position and reluctant to pick up and in the straight, he had raced greenly. When making significant ground in the straight, he had to restrain FLAMING PHOENIX when running onto the heels of the tiring INVICTUS WARRIOR. Whilst accepting his reasoning, the Stewards advised Jockey MM Firdaus that he is expected show significant initiative and vigour in every race. Considering that FLAMING PHOENIX did not show any pace in the race, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of KALA GHODA (J Shankar) revealed that it returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

MR HOPKINS shifted out, bumping TELLER at the 150M.

GALILEO’S APPROACH (J Daniel) and MAGNOLIA BLVD (S Ruzaini) brushed on several occasions over the final 100M.

The Stewards questioned Jockey Y Aify regarding his riding of LONELY BOY in the straight. He advised that he had been impeded when attempting a run in the straight and explained his riding action in that he was attempting to pick-up the gelding as it was not responding as he wished. The Stewards reprimanded Jockey Y Aify that he is expected to ride in a manner so as to fully test his mounts.

ME NO MARSH MELLOW (R Rueven) bounded in the air at the start, losing ground.

Shortly after the start, DOCTOR GINGER was tightened and shifted in, causing BAADSHAH (J Shankar) to be squeezed and lose ground.

DOCTOR GINGER was ridden wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the riding of KONG FU PANDA (J Low), Jockey J Low advised that he had been instructed to sit the gelding 4th , 5th and he tried to relax KONG FU PANDA, however, he raced in 3rd position in a keen manner and in the straight, had been one-paced.

Trainer KC Tiang advised that he had instructed that the gelding be ridden in 4th , 5th as in its previous start, it had weakened when ridden forward. He had instructed KONG FU PANDA to be ridden in a more relaxed fashion given the long course but this has not eventuated as the gelding had raced fiercely. Trainer KC Tiang advised he would instruct for KONG FU PANDA to be ridden in a forward position where it would be comfortable.
