RACE 1 (R860)         CLASS 5 (B) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE)

Acting on veterinary advice that DAYFLIRT (App N Varmah) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 12:01pm. DAYFLIRT will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

READY TO STRIKE (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

BARKER ROAD KID (App CK Khaw) veered inwards at the start, bumping ZOLVED (KC Wong) which in turn crowded MERCHANT MARINE (App A Suriya) and SUPER WOMAN (App M Lukman). On inquiry, App CK Khaw was reprimanded for shifting in at this stage.

MERCHANT MARINE travelled wide in the middle stages. The saddle slipped backwards on the gelding near the 900M, placing App A Suriya at a considerable disadvantage.

Passing the 800M, LIM’S BATTLE (App A Zaimuddin) momentarily steadied when striding onto the heels of SUPER WOMAN (App M Lukman).

When making ground in the straight, GOLDEN DRAGON (App S Sia) was blocked for a clear run between the 200M and the 50M, and then had to steady when BARKER ROAD KID shifted out.

KUTTNER (App S Zulfikri) was slow into stride.

Running to the first turn at the 800M, BOUNCEBACK ABILITY (S Ruzaini) commenced to race poorly and lay outwards, bumping SPIN FIRE (HS Gill) which then was obliged to race wide.

Near the 550M, SPIN FIRE rolled in, crowded MIRACLE WEI WEI (SU Lim) which in turn shifted ground causing ALAN (App S Sia) to steady from its heels. Jockey HS Gill was warned that he must keep his mounts straight in future. KUTTNER (App S Zulfikri) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight and had to steady on several occasions when impeded.

A post-race veterinary examination of ELITE ROCKET (App R Nuqman) revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

In the middle stages, THAI BAHT (HS Gill) and GHOST AFFAIR (App R Nuqman) were obliged to race wide.

Passing the 200M, the tiring SANDY’S PRIDE shifted out causing KHUDAWAND to ease.

Jockey R Rueven (ROCKET FIGHTER) lost his whip in the last 100M. He was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

D’GREAT SPEED (KC Wong) bounded in the air at the start, losing ground.

In the early stages, MIGHTY PHOENIX (R Rueven) raced fiercely.

HAPPY START (R Shafiq) raced wide in the early stages. When questioned regarding this, Jockey R Shafiq stated that he believed that there were horses on his inside and was fearful that the pace may slacken if he attempted to take a position within the field. The Stewards considered that Jockey R Shafiq should have exercised the option of having obtained a trail behind WASHINGTON (AK Lim) instead of travelling wide from the 800M until passing the 600M.

On straightening, SATELLITE GOLDEN (Y Aify) drifted out, carrying D’GREAT SPEED outwards which bumped with WASHINGTON.

A post-race veterinary examination of HERO CHAMPION revealed that it was lame off fore, sustained a cut to its near hind leg, and returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

An objection was lodged by Jockey J Daniel (LIMITLESS STOUT), placed third, against BRINGER OF WAR (App CK Khaw), placed second alleging interference between the 200M to the 100M. The Racing Stewards upheld the objection and amended the placing to:

1st – TURF PRINCESS (AK Lim)

2nd – LIMITLESS STOUT (J Daniel)

3rd – BRINGER OF WAR (App CK Khaw)

4th – GOOD NEWS (SU Lim)

SATTAR (W Faizal) veered outwards at the start badly, inconveniencing TIME TO INVEST (HS Gill).

BRINGER OF WAR (App CK Khaw) shifted inwards at the start at the same time as HIGH COUNCIL (App A Suriya) shifted outwards resulting in D’GREAT BOSS (R Shafiq), THANK YOU BOSS (App S Uzair) and TURF PRINCESS (AK Lim) being tightened.

Approaching the 700M, SATTAR eased off the heels of CHINO DINERO (App M Lukman) which in turn caused AUSONE (KC Wong) which was racing between SATTAR and LIMITLESS STOUT, to be eased.

BRINGER OF WAR lay outwards from the 275M and carried TURF PRINCESS outwards with LIMITLESS STOUT (J Daniel) having to be restrained from that mare’s heels at about the 125M. On inquiry, App CK Khaw (BRINGER OF WAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii).

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App CK Khaw’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 26 October 2020 and to expire on 1 November 2020, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

BIG G (App N Varmah) veered outwards at the start, striking the hind-quarters of ISFAHAN (J Shankar) at the same time as NASSEB (W Faizal) shifted in, crowding ISFAHAN which became unbalanced.

Running to the 800M, LIMITLESS VENTURE (R Shafiq) steadied from the heels of MUHEN (App CK Khaw) with NASSEB having to be restrained behind LIMITLESS VENTURE. A post-race veterinary examination of LIMITLESS VENTURE revealed that it had sustained a laceration of the off hind tendon and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet (1 month embargo) test before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT DUCHESS raced wide from the 700M and was inclined to lay inwards in the straight.

Jockey J Shankar (ISFAHAN) was questioned with regards to his whip usage. Specifically, the Stewards concern that his actions gave rise to a question of whether his whip made contact at each action. After taking evidence, the Stewards warned Jockey J Shankar that he should give no opportunity for doubt as to his true purpose in riding in any manner.

The Stewards questioned App K Pavinthran (GLAMOROUS), in the presence of his Acting Employing Trainer, BT Lim, with regards to his riding of GLAMOROUS. App K Pavinthran advised that he had been instructed to ride the gelding in a mid-to-forward position and then from its wide barrier, he pushed GLAMOROUS from the start, however, the gelding had commenced to race strongly and he found himself leading by a considerable margin. He continued to attempt to restrain GLAMOROUS but the gelding persisted in racing fiercely. He was further inconvenienced as the saddle on GLAMOROUS had slipped forward and the breast-plate buckle had come undone.

In assessing his evidence, the Stewards advised App K Pavinthran that he should take more significant measures to attempt to ride to instructions and further, he was reprimanded for failing to report to the Stewards that his saddle had slipped under the provisions of MRA Rule 44(11).
