Shifted in sharply near the 1100M, crowding KUBERA’S CHIEF and FLAMING PHOENIX, causing both horses to check severely. Rider suspended.

KUBERA’S CHIEF

Checked at 1100M

The Stewards inquired into an interference of KUBERA’S CHIEF and FLAMING PHOENIX near the 1100M. On inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of MORE THAN OIL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in erratically at this stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 24 January 2022 and to expire on 6 February 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
