D’GREAT ACHIEVER (App CC Foo) was slow into stride.

READY TO SEVENLUCK (KC Wong) was slow to begin and travelled wide, throwing its head at the 600M. When questioned, Jockey KC Wong advised that READY TO SEVENLUCK had been sitting back in the stalls prior to the start, and had missed the start. Near the 600M, ANDRE (App L De Souza) was tightened on his inside and he steadied READY TO SEVENLUCK for fear he was shifting in. The gelding had then thrown his head. Passing the 600M, ANDRE (App L De Souza) steadied when READY TO SEVENLUCK rolled in.

At about the 275M, ROC THAT (SU Lim) had to steady when GHOST AFFAIR shifted out.

Jockey SU Lim (ROC THAT) was questioned as to why it did take him so long to put the gelding under pressure after straightening. He stated that the gelding had not run since October last year, and had shown no early speed in the race and he considered that before straightening that the horse was tiring.

When questioned, App M Akmazani (INTROIT) advised that INTROIT had shown no early pace and he had been rearward where the gelding was travelling comfortably. Although making good ground in the straight, he had ridden it hands and heels and sparingly with the whip.

In the middle stages, GRAND CROSS (HS Gill) raced wide.

DINTINCTIVE DARCI was momentarily blocked and had to be steadied from the heels of HATTA (S Ruzaini) at the 200M. HATTA then bore out over the concluding stages, causing PANDA BOMB (App A Suriya) and AFFLECK (R Rueven) to shift outwards. MARINE TREASURE was impeded in the straight and had to be taken wide to obtain a clear passage. Jockey R Rueven, the rider of AFFLECK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in shortly after the start, carrying DINTINCTIVE DARCI (App L De Souza) inwards which caused MARINE TREASURE (App M Akmazani) and D’GREAT CONQUEROR (AK Lim) to be tightened and lose ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Rueven’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 August 2020 and to expire on 16 August 2020, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4pm).

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 7 (R479) CLASS 4 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE), SATURDAY, 1 AUGUST 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST SPECIAL MEETING 2020

The Stewards questioned App A Zaimuddin (SHELLOMADA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer BT Lim who is also the Trainer of SHELLOMADA, regarding his whip use on that gelding. Trainer BT Lim put forward that App A Zaimuddin had not ridden for a considerable period and as he had been subject to some previous training, he attempted to change his whip riding style during this period. As such, he was of the opinion that App A Zaimuddin, although trying to ride to his best, had not yet perfected the different style.

Whilst the Stewards accepted this in part, they referred App A Zaimuddin for specific whip related training and advised that he must ride every horse in a manner so as to leave no doubt as to his proper purpose.
