At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, the rider of GOLD SAMURAI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding GOLD SAMURAI, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to KIM BELLA at the 200M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 7 July 2025 and to expire on 12 July 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (2) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM3,000/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, the rider of SESON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst SESON, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to INTENT at the 700M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 13 July 2025 and to expire on 19 July 2025, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race days, he was also fined RM1,500/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of the FLYING FIGHTER, 4th placed horse, against the 3rd placed horse, MONTANA FLASH (L De Souza) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection as it could not be satisfied that without the above incident, FLYING FIGHTER would not have finished ahead of MONTANA FLASH.

Jockey AL Da Silva was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for  failing to arrive on course on time.


TUESDAY, 1 JULY 2025, SLTC TRACKWORK

Trainer S Siva was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for  presenting BILLY ELLIOT with an incorrect saddle cloth number for trackwork on the above date.


WEDNESDAY, 2 JULY 2025, SLTC TRACKWORK

Trainer SY Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for  presenting ANIKI with an incorrect saddle cloth number for trackwork on the above date.


RACE 3 (R0427) CLASS 5A – 1150M (Track II), SUNDAY, 22 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 6 July 2025 at SLTC, concluded a review into the running and handling of TOP SHOW.

After reviewing the films of the incident, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


RACE 10 (R0434) CLASS 4B – 1200M (SC A6), SUNDAY, 22 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 6 July 2025 at SLTC, concluded a review into the running and handling of CHEERFUL BABY.

After reviewing the films of the incident, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


RACE 3 (R0447) CLASS 4B – 1150M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 6 July 2025 at SLTC, concluded a review into the running and handling of WRITTEN TOWIN.

After reviewing the films of the incident, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


RACE 9 (R0453) 3 YEAR-OLD (SW) – 1600M (LC A), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AL Da Silva, the rider of DUMA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding DUMA, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ROCKY PEGASUS, STRONG WHITE and YES MAN shortly after the start.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AL Da Silva’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 14 July 2025 and to expire on 19 July 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of two (2) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM3,000/.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


RACE 12 (R0456) CLASS 5A – 1800M (LC A), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App PH Seow, the rider of SMART LIKE JASON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SMART LIKE JASON, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SEMANTAN PRINCE.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App PH Seow’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 7 July 2025 and to expire on 12 July 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,000/.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


POST RACE URINE:                                  

29 JUNE 2025

SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2025

The report dated 4 July 2025 (V25/100) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 36 coded urine and 38 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 29 June 2025, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.


JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:

The report dated 4 July 2025 (V25/101) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 2 coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 29 June 2025,  for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded J-5139 which indicates the presence of “Methamphetamine.”

Upon decoding, it was established that the abovementioned sample belonged to App Z Faizol. On 4 July 2025, Trainer SY Lim, the Employing Trainer of App Z Faizol, was advised with regards to the contents of this report. App Z Faizol was stood down from riding in trackwork and races with immediate effect. An Inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.
