From its outside barrier, was slow to begin and was ridden back in the field. Rider was advised that he must always display sufficient vigour when riding horses out in the straight.

3	GOLD SKY EXPRESS (AK Lim)	After being crowded at the start, commenced to race fiercely and threw its head near the 1050M, veered outwards badly at the 1000M, carrying runner wide. *(See Report)

6	BAOYE CHAMPION (R Rueven)	Acting on veterinary advice that BAOYE CHAMPION was lame off fore, the gelding was withdrawn at 12:38pm.
7	WAIMEA (App I Fikri)	Commenced to race fiercely near the 1100M and was restrained, shifted out, bumping runner.
11	BALOR (SU Lim)	Slow into stride, bumped and shifted wide near the 1000M.

In light of GOLD SKY EXPRESS’ racing manners, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

7	STREETS OF FIRE (J Low)	Raced fiercely in the early stages, throwing its head.
9	BLACK THORN (J Shankar)	Near the 1000M, threw its head when being restrained off the heels of SACRED EMPIRE. Near the 200M, steadied when laying in onto the heels of NEVERTHELESS. Inquiry into the running and handling.*(See Report)
10	NEVERTHELESS (MM Firdaus)	Vet exam: Laceration off hind tendon.

The Steward concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BLACK THORN (J Shankar). Evidence was taken from Jockey J Shankar and Trainer SY Lim, the rider and trainer of BLACK THORN respectively.

After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of BLACK THORN, the Stewards found Jockey J Shankar guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that:

He failed to avail himself of a significantly ample run on the inside of NEVERTHELESS near the 500M;
That his left hand whip use is in the opinion of the Stewards, was feigned and that he did not ride BLACK THORN with any vigour with your right hand;
When shifting out for a run near the 75M, he straightened BLACK THORN to maintain his position behind AHTIMS KLIS.

The Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Shankar’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months with effect from 14 March 2022 and to expire on 13 July 2022, both dates inclusive, to be served cumulatively with any other current penalty. He was also fined RM20,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 7 (R303) OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE A)

2	MAGNITUDE (J Shankar)	Bumped heavily at the start and had to be eased when hung out across the heels of ZAZU near the 800M.
3	TALENTED (HK Cheng)	Crowded on jumping and bumped runner on inside, was then inclined to lay outwards from the 800M.
7	ZAZU (App I Fikri)	Bumped heavily at the start. Near the 800M, steadied inwards causing MAGNITUDE to be eased. Saddle slipped backwards near the 800M.
9	ASSASSIN (HS Gill)	Stood when the start was effected, losing considerable ground. 1 Starting Stall test. Raced wide in the middle stages.
11	BERRY BLISS (App Clyde Leck)	Shifted inwards quickly at the start, bumping runners. Rider reprimanded for failing to straighten.

App Clyde Leck (BERRY BLISS) rode his 10^th winner and would only be entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Monday, 14 March 2022.

When questioned, Jockey J Daniel (BANG BANG) stated that at no stage had the gelding been competitive, even on a hard riding from the 800M and on straightening, made some respiratory noises and he subsequently feared something was amiss with the gelding and eased it down in the straight.

When questioned, Jockey CK Khaw (COPACABANA) stated that he had intended that it would be ridden in a forward position, however, had been unable to secure a reasonable passage and was trapped 3-wide, and was unable to improve inwards due to the presence of horses behind him.
