FRIDAY, 16 MAY 2025, SLTC TRACKWORK
Trainer D Kok was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting his horse with an incorrect saddle cloth number for trackwork on the above date.
RACE 5 (R0289) CLASS 4B – 1150M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 27 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of COMMANDER JONES. Evidence was taken from Jockey S John and Trainer R Lim, the rider and trainer of COMMANDER JONES respectively.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.
RACE 6 (R0290) CLASS 4A – 1150M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 27 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of VGOR. Evidence was taken from Jockey S John and Trainer R Lim, the rider and trainer of VGOR respectively.
The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. Jockey S John, the rider of VGOR was found guilty of a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii).
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S John’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) weeks with effect from 19 May 2025 and to expire on 15 June 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 8 (R0292) CLASS 3 – 1400M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 27 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of JIN SAKAMOTO. Evidence was taken from Jockey S John and Trainer R Lim, the rider and trainer of JIN SAKAMOTO respectively.
The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. Jockey S John, the rider of JIN SAKAMOTO, was found guilty of a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii).
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S John’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) weeks with effect from 16 June 2025 and to expire on 3 August 2025, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 2 (R0308) CLASS 4B – 1200M (SC A), SUNDAY, 4 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of SINGLE WARRIOR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SINGLE WARRIOR, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to OLYMPIA, THE WILD CHIEF and V’INVINCIBLE at the 1150M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 19 May 2025 and to expire on 24 May 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of two (2) Malaysian race days, he was also fined RM3,500/- He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 10 (R0316) CLASS 4A – 1020M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 4 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of SURREY HILLS. Evidence was taken from App M Akmazani, the rider of SURREY HILLS, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer J Tan.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.
RACE 2 (R0308) CLASS 4B – 1200M (SC A), SUNDAY, 4 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of SUPER MANJUNG, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SUPER MANJUNG, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference at the 800M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey R Shafiq’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 19 May 2025 and to expire on 24 May 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 7 (R0313) CLASS 4A – 1800M (LC A), SUNDAY, 4 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, the rider of SURREY HILLS, was pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SURREY HILLS, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference in the concluding stages.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 19 May 2025 and to expire on 24 May 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/-. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
APPEAL BY APPRENTICE JOCKEY MUHD SYAFIFIE BIN MOHD ZAILUDDIN (APP Z SYAFIFIE) AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF TWO (2) MONTHS FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(6) FOR FAILING TO RIDE TO THE END OF THE RACE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE STEWARDS IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS RELATED TO HIS RIDING OF RACEHORSE “ROCKY PEGASUS” IN RACE 9 (R0238) ON SUNDAY, 6 APRIL 2025 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Selangor Turf Club Appeal Panel heard the above appeal on Tuesday, 6 May 2025.
After considering submissions from App Z Syafifie and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Appeal Panel upheld the appeal in part, against the conviction under MRA Rule 44(6).
On the issue of penalty, the Appeal Panel reduced the suspension from a period of two (2) months to a suspension of one (1) month. Additionally, he was also fined the sum of RM5,000/-. After hearing evidence on the issue from App Z Syafifie, it further ordered the suspension to be served after his last carded ride. App Z Syafifie is suspended with effect from 14 April 2025 to 13 May 2025.
The deposit was ordered to be refunded.
AMENDMENT
RACE 4 (R0288) CLASS 4B – 1150M (Track II +4), SUNDAY, 27 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Panel of Stewards acceded to Jockey WW Cheah’s (WRITTEN TOWIN) request and amended his suspension from two (2) Malaysian race days to a suspension of one (1) Malaysian race day which will be served on 10 May 2025. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM2,000/-.
RACE 9 (R0304) CLASS 4B – 1500M (LC A4), SATURDAY, 3 MAY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Tuesday, 6 May 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of FORTUNE WHEEL. Evidence was taken from Jockey C Henrique and Trainer R Lim, the rider and trainer of FORTUNE WHEEL, respectively.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey C Henrique was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months with effect from 12 May 2025 and to expire on 11 November 2025, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 9 (R0293) CLASS 2 – 1400M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 27 APRIL 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2025
The Stewards, on Tuesday, 6 May 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of HURRICANE. Evidence was taken from Jockey C Henrique and Trainer S Dunderdale, the rider and trainer of HURRICANE, respectively.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey C Henrique was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 12 November 2025 and to expire on 10 January 2026, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with any other penalty. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “37259” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “NO MORE DELAY” WHICH RACED IN RACE 8 ON SATURDAY, 1 MARCH 2025 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2025, AND WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “METHAMPHETAMINE”
The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on Thursday, 8 May 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Trainer WC Lim, the Trainer of NO MORE DELAY.
Trainer WC Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for racing the horse NO MORE DELAY which finished first (1st) in Race 8 run on Saturday, 1 March 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, when its post-race urine sample disclosed, upon analysis, the substance “Methamphetamine”.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of drug, the nature of the drug involved, Trainer WC Lim’s guilty plea, his mitigating factors and previous record. Trainer WC Lim was fined the sum of RM20,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.
