Rider got his whip entangled in the gelding’s mane on straightening.

In the early stages, raced fiercely and was kept wide from the 1000M until straightening. Vet inspection: Exertional heat illness – Vet exam.

RACE 2 (R438) CLASS 5 (A) – 1500M (C6 LONG COURSE)

1	BACK TO THE FUTURE (L De Souza)	Raced fiercely when travelling wide between the 1000M and the turn into the straight.
2	RINGS OF FIRE (F Herholdt)	Jumped awkwardly and had to be straightened, and was inclined to lay inwards in the early stages.
5	DESTINY CHILD (KC Wong)	Slow into stride. Rider questioned as to the reason he was so far back in the early stages. *(See Report)
7	MIEJ (Y Aify)	Slow to begin.

Trainer HY Cheng stated that he had instructed that DESTINY CHILD be ridden in a midfield position, consistent with his previous instructions albeit that the mare had been on the pace at its previous start. Jockey KC Wong stated that the mare had shown no early speed and could not follow the pace of the race. He was of the opinion that it was better that he followed the field rather than attempting to make ground on the outside, given the rail being at 6M wide.

Raced fiercely in the early stages.

BARBARIAN

Awkward at the start. Raced wide throughout.

Prior to the “All Clear” being given, the Panel of Stewards assessed the start with regards to several horses and deemed that TILSWORTH JACOBI (App A Nazir) had breached the gate when fractious, dislodging its rider, with the dislodged rider impeding BROTHER WIND (App WW Cheah). As such, under the provisions of MRA Rule 115, BROTHER WIND and TILSWORTH JACOBI were declared non-runners. In this incident, BARBARIAN (L De Souza) which was drawn beside TILSWORTH JACOBI, was inconvenienced marginally. TILSWORTH JACOBI will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of TILSWORTH JACOBI revealed that it had sustained bruising of the nostril and bleeding from the gums.

10	STAY SOUND (App R Nuqman)	Saddle slipped backwards shortly after straightening, placing its rider in a considerable difficulty in riding the gelding out.

1	LIMITLESS STOUT (J Daniel)	Had to be steadied off the heels of SACRED TONIC at the 750M.
3	SHOWAR (F Herholdt)	Reluctant to be competitive in the early stages and could not endure the fast pace and lost ground. 1000M/vet
6	SACRED TONIC (MM Firdaus)	Near the 750M, baulked when racing on the inside of DRONE. Held up for a clear run between the 250M and the 100M.
7	VETRI (KC Tham)	Slow into stride and raced in a rearward position. Taken wide at the 750M. Rider explained the gelding was hesitant to jump and raced flat-footed in the early stages.

7	TUN O’ REILLY (R Rueven)	Jumped with its head turned sideways and lost ground, was then tightened slightly. *(See Report)
8	MAT ROCK (KC Wong)	Bumped near the 1000M. Saddle slipped backwards shortly after the start.
10	MR KIRIKANAN (J Daniel)	Slow into stride, then raced wide in the middle stages. Vet inspection: Lame near fore – 1000M/vet

When questioned, Jockey R Rueven stated that TUN O’ REILLY had grabbed the bit on the near side and had been marginally crowded shortly after the start, however, he had been able to get the gelding into the desired midfield position.

Trainer S Hamilton advised that TUN O’ REILLY had an inclination to jump in this manner on numerous occasions previously and that she had intended for this gelding to be ridden midfield due to the amount of pace in the race.
