At the 300M, SIX EMPIRE (HS Gill) laid out under pressure.

App CK Khaw, the rider of JUST DUIT, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JUST DUIT revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RAJA MAHESA (S Anandan) was permitted to race without a Shadow Roll as it was ascertained that no application has been made for this.

BALBOA (App CK Khaw) was slow to begin.

In the middle stages, DEE MAJULAH (J De Souza) was forced to race wide.

MR WOLFF (Y Aify) was inclined to hang inwards from the 250M, crowding KING COBRA (AK Lim) near the 75M.

Jockey J De Souza, the rider of DEE MAJULAH, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of DEE MAJULAH revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R1109) CLASS 5 (A)– 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

GHOST BAY (K Eirwan) had to be resaddled at the start when it was ascertained that its girth was too long. Trainer BT Lim was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 35(1) for negligent in saddling GHOST BAY.

AUDACIOUS (B Pinheiro) veered inwards at the start, crowding SATELLITE GOLDEN (S Ruzaini) which in turn contacted D’GREAT ERA (J De Souza) tightening TAKE A BOW (Y Aify) and MAJOR GREEN (S Anandan).

App L De Souza, the rider of I AM MIDAS, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. of A post-race veterinary examination of I AM MIDAS revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockeys J De Souza and KC Wong, the riders of D’GREAT ERA and BORN A FIGHTER respectively, were questioned as to why they had sat approximately five (5) lengths behind the leading division mid-race.

Jockey J De Souza advised that at no stage was D’GREAT ERA striding well and that although wishing to be running midfield, had found himself further back with the mare fading badly. A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT ERA revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockey KC Wong, when questioned, advised that he had wished to be running midfield but had to push BORN A FIGHTER from shortly after the start with the gelding being unable to match what he considered was a fast early pace.

Whilst accepting these explanations, the Stewards reminded Jockeys J De Souza and KC Wong that they were expected to ensure their mounts were ridden in a positive manner at all stages.

Jockey K Eirwan (GHOST BAY) was questioned as to why he had taken so long to put GHOST BAY under pressure in the straight. He advised that he had limited race riding exposure recently, and believed he had exerted effort on GHOST BAY on straightening.

RACE 5 (R1110) CLASS 4 (A)– 1400M (SHORT COURSE A)

TWENTYSIXTWELVE (App CK Khaw) jumped with its head in the air, losing ground.

RACE 6 (R1111) COMBINED CLASS 1 & 2 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

WHIRLWIND was slow to begin. When questioned regarding this, Jockey B Pinheiro stated that in its previous start, WHIRLWIND had commenced slowly and he had pushed the gelding vigorously. WHIRLWIND had then commenced to pull very hard and he had difficulty controlling the gelding. As such, he had decided to allow WHIRLWIND to jump at its own accord without pushing it in order to have the gelding settle into stride.

Between the 1000M and the 900M, TANNHAUSER (App CK Khaw) and SHOWBOY (S Ruzaini) bumped on several occasions.

When blocked near the 200M, BUENOS AIRES (KC Wong) shifted out, bumping the hind-quarters of TANNHAUSER. Shortly after this incident, SHOWBOY shifted in causing TANNHAUSER to be restrained. On inquiry, it was established that although SHOWBOY had shifted in at this stage, this incident was compounded by the bump to TANNHAUSER by BUENOS AIRES. However, the Stewards reprimanded Jockey S Ruzaini relating to his interference in this incident.

Jockey B Pinheiro (WHIRLWIND) dropped his whip at the 250M. He was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

A post-race veterinary examination of SEBAS revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HIP HIP HOORAY (S Anandan) returned with a laceration over the off hind heel bulb. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 4 (R1071) CLASS 4 (A) – 1800M (LONG COURSE B), SATURDAY, 24 AUGUST 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 1 September 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the riding of Jockey S Salee (THAI BAHT). Further evidence was taken from Jockey S Salee and Trainer SY Lim, the rider and trainer of THAI BAHT respectively.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of THAI BAHT, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards whilst riding THAI BAHT in the straight in the above race. The particulars of the charge were that his riding of THAI BAHT in the straight with the whip failed to satisfy the Stewards for the particular reason that several whip actions failed to make contact.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Salee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Jockey S Salee was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 2 September 2019 and to expire on 1 October 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12pm).

RACE 8 (R1075) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE B), SATURDAY, 24 AUGUST 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 27 August 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the whip use of Jockey S Anandan, the rider of E SUPREME.

After considering the evidence tendered, Jockey S Anandan was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(ii) for continuing to use his whip when E SUPREME was considerably out of contention.

RACE 1 (R1068) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B), SATURDAY, 24 AUGUST 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 27 August 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, continued the inquiry into the apparent improved performance of MUSANG KING (AK Lim) in the above race. Evidence was taken from Trainer SY Lim, the trainer of MUSANG KING.

Trainer SY Lim advised that he had instructed that MUSANG KING be ridden in both races to be handy. At its previous start, the gelding had been tightened slightly at the start and was unable to take up a prominent position. He was of the opinion that this race was considerably weaker and that there appeared to be little pace in the race. Further that MUSANG KING was advantaged by having Jockey AK Lim ride as opposed to App WK Lee. He had also freshened the gelding in his work. Their explanations were noted.

RACE 6 (R836) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 6 JULY 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2019

Jockey SU Lim (SUPER MARIO) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of one (1) month under MRA Rule 44(10), applied to withdraw his appeal. After consideration, his application was acceded to and his deposit was forfeited. His suspension commenced on 26 August 2019 and to expire on 25 September 2019, both dates inclusive.
