GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 6 (R1482) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SUNDAY, 23 NOVEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards questioned Trainer S Dunderdale regarding the apparent improved performance of FIRST PRECINT (J De Souza). Trainer S Dunderdale advised that at its previous start, FIRST PRECINT had been rearward from its outside barrier. He was of the opinion that the gelding was able to be positioned handy from its good barrier draw today and further that he had freshened FIRST PRECINT in its work since its 1400M start. The Stewards noted his explanation.

RACE 11 (R1487) CLASS 5 (B) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 23 NOVEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2019

The Stewards, on 26 November 2019 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into the running and handling of EAGLE SOAR (J De Souza). Evidence was taken from Trainer R Lines and Jockey J De Souza, the trainer and rider of EAGLE SOAR respectively.

Trainer R Lines advised that he had instructed that EAGLE SOAR to be ridden patiently as it had failed badly at its previous two (2) starts when ridden close to the pace. He further stated that EAGLE SOAR has displayed poor racing traits whereby the gelding is not permitted to be ridden by an Apprentice.

Jockey J De Souza informed that he had intended to allow EAGLE SOAR to settle and had not forced the gelding in the early stages but when attempting a forward move from the 700M, EAGLE SOAR had laid out and took the turn into the straight wide. He was of the opinion that EAGLE SOAR had performed well ridden in this manner.

In assessing the evidence, the Stewards advised Trainer R Lines that he must inform the Stewards of any substantial change of riding tactics. Jockey J De Souza was warned that he must ride in a manner which leaves no doubt of his positive intentions.

RACE 8 (R1495) CLASS 4 (A) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE A), SPORTS TOTO 6D STAKES, SUNDAY, 24 NOVEMBER 2019, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2019

Trainer Evert van Breukelen was fined RM1000/- under the provisions of MRA Rule 109(4) for presenting RACER KING (KC Wong) to race, shod in an unfit condition.
