AMENDMENT

RACE 2 (R275) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SUNDAY, 26 FEBRUARY 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2017

The Stewards questioned App L De Souza, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, into the tactics that were adopted on PERFECT RUN in the home straight in particular why App L De Souza failed to show any vigour in his riding style over the final 300M.

After viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, App L De Souza pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards from approximately the 300M to the winning post with sufficient vigour to gain the best possible placing.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App L De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. The Stewards, in not issuing a more severe penalty, also took into consideration that he has a limited race riding experience. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of App L De Souza’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 5 March 2017 and to expire on 4 April 2017, both dates inclusive. He was also advised that he must complete a series of trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to riding in races again. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2:40pm).
