PENANG SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017 – 2ND DAY, SUNDAY

RACE 1 (R1200)  CLASS 5 – 1400M

GUILTLESS, a course scratching as it had sustained float injury (cut at near fore pastern, chest and forehead), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GHOST CITY (Z Khairil) was restless in the starting stall and delayed the start.  Trainer J Tan was advised that a warning has been placed regarding the manners of GHOST CITY and he is to take steps to improve them, failing which action will be taken in future.

BLIXEM (App KC Wong) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in at the start.

PURPLE RAIN LADY (App A Zaimuddin), PEGASUS GENIUS (M Yusri) and BLIXEM were all slow to begin.

ROYAL CHOICE (App WK Lee) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of V RESPECT U (SS Vanan) at the 800M.

MAGIC RANGER (S Salee) had to be steadied racing to the 300M when RUBICON (App AM Aizat) rolled out.

PURLE RAIN LADY had to be steadied and shifted out across the heels of ROYAL CHOICE and PEGASUS GENIUS to obtain a clear run. 

 PURPLE RAIN LADY laid in at the 150M and inconvenienced ROYAL CHOICE.

GHOST CITY was disappointed for a run from the 150M to the finish when V RESPECT U laid in under pressure.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that GHOST CITY returned cut into, off fore and off hind and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. The gelding was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAGIC RANGER and BLIXEM revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Trainer B Ng into the improved performance of BABY POLO (App AK Lim).  He stated that BABY POLO was down in class, had a good draw today and the gelding was suited to today’s going.  His explanation was noted.

RACE 2 (R1201) CLASS 5 – 1400M

PRINCE ISLANDER (Z Khairil) was slow to begin.

PRINCE ISLANDER was disappointed for a run and held up on the heels of HOME RUN HERO (R Woodworth) from the 250M until about the 50M when PRINCE ISLANDER shifted out for a clear run.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that MR NO PROBLEM (App A Saddam) returned broken winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey J Chuah, the rider of MOTHER NATURE reported that his mount could not handle the going.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of ALFRAAJ, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MOTHER NATURE and ALFRAAJ revealed no obvious abnormality.  ALFRAAJ was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.  MOTHER NATURE and ALFRAAJ which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R1202)  CLASS 4 – 1200M

 MANGO MAN which was up 58kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

IN FULL BLOOM (App J Daniel) was tightened in the jump and lost its position when D’GREAT GRACE (App AM Aizat) shifted in.

OUR FRIENDLY DIVA (SS Vanan) jumped away awkwardly and threw its head in the air for several strides and thereafter had to avoid the heels of ANGELFIRE (R Woodworth) which rolled in.

SEE FOR YOURSELF (App WK Lee) had to be steadied and lost its position about 50M after the start when SUPREME STAR (TM Wan) rolled in.

SUPREME STAR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MANGO MAN (WK Yan) which rolled in at the 800M.

Jockey WK Yan, the rider of MANGO MAN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that MANGO MAN returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUPREME STAR and MAGICAL TEN (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.  SUPREME STAR was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

 RACE 4 (R1203)  CLASS 4 – 1200M

 CELERITAS which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HEART’S CHOICE (App AK Lim) bled.  As this is his 2nd Bleeding attack and failing to revert to a non-bleeder status, HEART’S CHOICE will be barred from racing for a period of 6 months, and thereafter will be required to pass a Bleeder’s Test before being declared to race again  as required under MRA Rule 92 (5)(a) (b) & (c).

Post-race veterinary examinations of OUR TOUCHE (S Salee) and HUN YEANG VILLAGE (M Zairi) revealed no obvious abnormality.   HERE COMES THUNDER (Z Khairil) returned having cast its off fore plate.

App KC Wong, the rider of Q NINE MAX reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that Q NINE MAX returned lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R1205) INITIATION  – 1200M

(WEIGHT-FOR-AGE)

WE’RE THE WORLD, a course scratching as it had a corn in the off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 EASTWOOD (Z Khairil) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped BAHAR (S Salee) at the start.

 GLORY KID  (WK Yan) was slow to begin.

 GHOST BANK (App WK Lee) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.

 D’GREAT TALENT (App KC Wong) raced greenly in the straight and shifted ground inwards on several occasions.

 GHOST BANK raced greenly in the straight and shifted in away from the whip at the 300M.

 A post-race veterinary examination of  COVER MAN (R Woodworth) revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding cast its near fore plate.

 Post-race veterinary examinations of EASTWOOD and SHAHBAA (SS Vanan) revealed no obvious abnormality;

RACE 7 (R1206) CLASS 5 – 1100M

 COLONEL LINCOLN, a course scratching as it had sustained cellulitis near hind leg, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MR DREAMMAN and ZENIDEKKA which were down 15kgs and 26kgs respectively in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

ZENIDEKKA (App S Saddam) laid in away from the whip over the final 150M of the race.

App S Saddam, the rider of ZENIDEKKA, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of WHISPERINTHEWIND (App J Daniel), RANGITAIKI   (C Goon), CIZEN BROTHER (App WK Lee) and UNION JAC (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.  RANGITAIKI was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

GENERAL REPORT(S)

 INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “11241” TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE “DEPUTY LAW” IN RACE 8 (R954), CLASS 5 – 1400M, 2ND DAY, SATURDAY,  29TH JULY 2017, PENANG SPRINT TROPHY MEETING 2017 AND WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “BOLDENONE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS     

The Stipendiary Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter today, Sunday, 24th  September 2017 at the Penang Turf Club. 

 Evidence were taken from Trainer PK Leong, the trainer of DEPUTY LAW, Ms. Chan Sue Hay,   Analyst, USAINS Holding Sdn. Bhd. and Dr. Khor Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.

 Trainer PK Leong pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run DEPUTY LAW which finished unplaced in the above race and its post-race urine sample, upon analysis returned positive to “Boldenone”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

 When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account Trainer PK Leong’s forthright evidence, the nature of the prohibited substance and his previous record.  Trainer PK Leong was fined a sum of RM15,000/- ( Malaysian Ringgit Fifteen Thousand).  He was informed of his right of appeal (12.40pm).

 In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), DEPUTY LAW was disqualified from the above race and the results will be amended accordingly.

 The Stewards ordered that a clear urine sample from DEPUTY LAW be submitted for analysis before this horse is declared to race again, as required under MRA Rule 134(12).

RACE 5 (R1197) CLASS 5 – 1600M, SATURDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER 2017,

PENANG TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017

 The Stewards opened an Inquiry today (24th September 2017) into the riding and handling of WINNING STAR in the above race. 

 After taking initial evidence from Trainer M Sukri, App A Zaimuddin in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer C Robert, the trainer and rider of WINNING STAR respectively, the Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date to be fixed.
