 THONG’S JIAQING, a course scratching as it was suffering from skin allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) jumped away awkwardly.

SATELLITE KING (M Zairi) was slow to begin.

MARCO POLO (App AK Lim) had to be steadied at the 800M when BLAZING STEED (WK Yan) rolled in.

Racing to the 600M, ARCHAEOLOGY (C Goon) steadied to avoid the heels of MONEY NOT ENOUGH (R Woodworth).

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that CHARLIE CAME ALONG (Z Khairil) and HACKER (S Salee) both returned having cast their near fore plates.

Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of MONEY NOT ENOUGH, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of REAL HERO (App A Zaimuddin), HACKER and ZAC GALLANT (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned Trainer P Lee, the trainer of BLAZING STEED into the improved performance of that gelding.  He stated that he considered BLAZING STEED is better suited in today’s going and a better barrier draw today compared to its previous start and that was the only explanation he could offer.

RACE 2 (R1194) CLASS 5 – 1100M

 SUPREME SASSO which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted App WK Lee to replace App A Zaimuddin on SAND LANE when the latter was unable to make the carded weight on the gelding.  App A Zaimuddin was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight on SAND LANE.  In addition, he was instructed in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer C Robert, that due to his weight problem, he will not be allowed to accept rides of runners handicapped 53kg and below without Stewards’ permission.

LEE’S SURPRISE (SS Vanan) and DARK EXPRESS (S Anandan) were both slow into stride.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPREME SASSO (R Woodworth) returned with a cut to its off hind leg and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GERMAN SPEED (Z Khairil), TRIPLE COIN (J De Souza) and DARK EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.  GERMAN SPEED and DARK EXPRESS were both Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Anandan and Trainer T Asogan, the rider and trainer of DARK EXPRESS respectively into the performance of the gelding today.  Jockey S Anandan stated that DARK EXPRESS jumped well but showed no early pace despite being urged and that the fast pace of the race left him back in the field.  He further stated that racing to the 300M, DARK EXPRESS laid in away from the whip and finished the race off fairly under his riding.  Trainer T Asogan explained that his instructions were to lead if the gelding jumped well and if not, to sit midfield.  He was of the opinion that today’s field is much stronger as compared to its last start on 26th August 2017.  However, Trainer T Asogan was advised to report back to the Stewards if he finds anything amiss with the gelding upon returning to stable.

RACE 3 (R1195)  CLASS 4 – 1200M

 OKI OKI, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised left hock, swill be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 PEARL which was up 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BLACK RAIN (SS Vanan) and MY GOODNESS (CK Tan) were both slow into stride.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that PEARL (S Anandan) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT (App S Saddam) and SIR RALLY (App WK Lee) revealed no obvious abnormality.  TRIPLE ONE D’GREAT was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

 RACE 4 (R1196)  CLASS 4 – 1400M

D’GREAT SHINE which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SUCCESSION (HS Gill) was very slow to begin.

Racing to the 800M, KAI POWER (R Woodworth) brushed the running rail and shortly after, RIGHT TIMING (App S Saddam) which was following, also brushed the running rail.

Over the concluding stages, MIROTIC (Z Khairil) laid outwards away from the whip and finished wider on the track.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUCCESSION returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of MIROTIC revealed that the gelding returned having cast its off fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT SHINE (App KC Wong), MR NEWMAN (App S Rosmizan), and TRAVERTINE (S Anandan) revealed no obvious abnormality.  MR NEWMAN was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

 LUCK HAPPY, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 FAIRBORN, a course scratching as it was having skin allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Racing to the 1300M, RUNFORIT (R Woodworth) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SATELLITE LEGEND (M Zairi).

App KC Wong, the rider of PISCES JET and Jockey S Anandan, the rider of READY FORTUNE, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of RUNFORIT, RUSH (C Goon) and BALBOA (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.  BALBOA was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The Stewards questioned Jockey HS Gill and Trainer K Coetzee, the rider and trainer of BALBOA respectively into the poor performance of the gelding in today’s race.  Jockey HS Gill stated that BALBOA jumped away awkwardly and failed to act in the going.  He further stated that despite his urging, BALBOA failed to respond to his riding at any stage of the race and in his opinion, the going today did not suite the gelding.  Trainer K Coetzee confirmed that the gelding’s performance today was disappointing and he was also of the opinion that the gelding failed to handle the going today. Trainer K Coetzee was advised to report back to the Stewards if he finds anything amiss with BALBOA upon returning to stable.

The Stewards questioned Trainer S Hamilton into the improved performance of KING SAVINSKY (S Salee).  She stated that from Barrier 1, her instructions were to lead or be handy and she felt that the gelding was better suited in today’s race and in the going.  Her explanation was noted.

An Inquiry into the riding and handling of WINNING STAR (App A Zaimuddin) will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 (R1198) CLASS 4  – 1400M

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN which was down 24kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GOLD COAST CAPTAIN (App KC Tham) showed no early pace despite being urged.

FLAMING FIREHEART (C Goon) showed no early pace.

OUR GENIUS (M Yusri) travelled wide from the 600M to obtain clear running and entered the straight wide.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that JACKSEAN (App AM Aizat) returned having cut into near hind coronet.  The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again

Post-race veterinary examinations of OUR RIVER DANCER (S Salee), SING ENERGY (HS Gill) and SAYANG ME (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of TAWQEET, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

 Jockey C Goon, the rider of FLAMING FIREHEART, reported that his mount did not act in the going.

RACE 7 (R1199) CLASS 5 – 1400M

 CHINESE STREET (App A Zaimuddin) shifted out at the 350M to obtain a clear run and in so doing, bumped TURBO (J De Souza) and was then disappointed for a run when TURBO rolled in.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TURBO and FIRST OPTION (S Anandan) revealed no obvious abnormality.  FIRST OPTION was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of CASPER, reported that his mount could not handle the going.

The Stewards questioned Jockey S Anandan and Trainer S Hamilton, the rider and trainer of FIRST OPTION respectively into the poor performance of the gelding in today’s race.  Trainer S Hamilton stated that her instructions were to lead or be handy and she felt that FIRST OPTION was unable to act in the going.  Jockey S Anandan confirmed the instructions and stated that he got a good position in the race but from the 500M, FIRST OPTION failed to respond to his riding and weakened and was very disappointing in the finish.  Their explanations were noted.  Trainer S Hamilton was advised to report back to the Stewards if she finds anything amiss with the gelding on return to stable.

GENERAL REPORT(S)

INQUIRY INTO THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “11215” TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE “MULTI WEALTH” IN RACE 5 (R951), CLASS  4 – 1200M, 2ND DAY, SATURDAY, 29TH JULY 2017, PENANG SPRINT TROPHY MEETING 2017 AND WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “THEOBROMINE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS

 The Stipendiary Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter today, Saturday, 23rd September 2017 at the Penang Turf Club. 

 Evidence were taken from Trainer S Hamilton, the trainer of MULTI WEALTH, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Tan Soo Choon, Chief Analyst, USAINS Holding Sdn. Bhd. and Dr. Tan Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.

 Trainer S Hamilton was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) and punishable under MRA Rule 134(7) in that she was the trainer and person responsible for presenting and accepting to run MULTI WEALTH which finished 1st placing in the above race and its post-race urine sample, upon analysis returned positive to “Theobromine”, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

 When deciding on a penalty, the Stewards took into account Trainer S Hamilton’s forthright evidence, the nature of the prohibited substance and her clean record.  Trainer S Hamilton was fined a sum of RM5,000/- ( Malaysian Ringgit Five Thousand).  She was informed of her right of appeal (12.50pm).

 In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), MULTI WEALTH was disqualified from the above race and the results will be amended accordingly.

 A ‘Clearing Sample’ taken from “MULTI WEALTH” on 13th September 2017 was analysed by USAINS Holding Sdn. Bhd., reported to be negative to prohibited substances and as such, the Stewards cleared “MULTI WEALTH” to resume racing under MRA Rule 134 (12).

PERAK TURF CLUB TRACKWORK – TUESDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2017

BIG BIT COIN (R242) bled during the official Steward’s Embargo Test conducted on Tuesday (19/09/2017) at the Perak Turf Club.  As this is his 2nd Bleeding attacked and failing to revert to a non-bleeder status, BIG BIT COIN will be barred from racing for a period of 6 months, and thereafter will be required to pass a Bleeder’s Test before being declared to race again  as required under MRA Rule 92 (5)(a) (b) & (c).

PERAK TURF CLUB RACING STEWARDS’ HEARING OF AN APPEAL BY JOCKEY J SHANKAR AGAINST THE RM2,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS WHEN HE WAS FOUND GUILTY TO A CHARGE OF MISCONDUCT UNDER MRA RULE 152(5)(a) IN THAT HIS CONDUCT ON THE 4th JUNE 2016 IN THE PRTC JOCKEYS ROOM BETWEEN RACES 2 AND 3, WAS UNBECOMING OF A PROFESSIONAL JOCKEY.

 The Perak Turf Club Racing Stewards heard the above appeal on Thursday, 21st September 2017.

 After considering all submissions from Jockey J Shankar, his Counsel Mr. P Ravee and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr. Philip Anderson, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal and his deposit is forfeited.

GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

 RACE 3 (R1158) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B), SATURDAY,

16 SEPTEMBER 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017

 The Stewards, on 20 September 2017 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BLACK THORN in the above race. Further evidence was taken from App S Zulfikri, the rider of BLACK THORN, in the presence of his Acting Master, B Trainer Siva Kumar s/o Subramaniam, and Trainer L Moy, the Trainer of BLACK THORN.

App S Zulfikri pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:

After BLACK THORN laid in abruptly in response to the whip at the 350M, he continued to use his whip in his right hand when it was likely that this would cause interference and affect BLACK THORN’s momentum.

  1. In the last 100M, he rode with a lack of vigour when BLACK THORN was holding a possible winning chance.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Zulfikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 25 September 2017 and to expire on 24 December 2017, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively with his current suspension which will end on 24 September 2017. He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal (11:10am).

 App S Zulfikri subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 7 (R1171) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B), SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2017, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017

 After taking further evidence from App S Zulfikri, the rider of BANKERS CALL, in the presence of Acting Master, B Trainer Siva Kumar s/o Subramaniam, the Stewards, on 20 September 2017 at the Selangor Turf Club, further adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed in order to arrange for other witnesses to attend the inquiry.
