STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT

RACE 1 (R337) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M

BAGHDAD, a course scratching as it had conjunctivitis right eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The barrier for GERMANIC (Y Aify) is incorrectly stated in the Race Card.  GERMANIC starts from barrier 1. 

JACKS SECRET (App P Haris) jumped away awkwardly and struck the outside gate.

TWENTYSIXTWELVE (App P Mogun) was slow into stride.

READY TO RULE (HK Cheng) commenced to over-race approaching the 800M and clipped the heels of GERMANIC and was checked and shifted out, forcing DROUGHT (App S Hafis) wider on the track.

App P Mogun, the rider of TWENTYSIXTWELVE, reported that his saddle slipped backwards shortly after the start.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DROUGHT and READY TO RULE revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned App CK Khaw, the rider of FORTYEIGHT QUEEN, in the presence of his Employing Trainer R Lines into his whip action prior to the finish of the race and after considering his evidence, were satisfied that it was not a celebratory gesture.

I AM MIDAS (HK Cheng) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.

REDOUBT (App I Firdzriel) jumped away awkwardly.

Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT ACHIEVER (App L De Souza), I AM MIDAS, NUMERO UNO (K Eirwan) and FEISTY LEO (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.   

The Stewards questioned ‘B’ Trainer HY Cheng, representing Trainer SB Tan into the improved performance and change of tactics on REDOUBT.  Mr. HY Cheng explained that on its previous start, the gelding was in the barrier for some time and as a result, was slow to begin.  Mr. HY Cheng further explained that this week, he had lodged a special request for REDOUBT to be loaded late.  It was his opinion that this had led to the gelding’s improved performance.  His explanation was noted.

CHIEF CLERK, a course scratching as it was bruised off fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MR DJ (KC Wong) and RAISE ME UP (App CC Foo) were both slow into stride.

TURF PRINCESS (App I Firdzriel) raced greenly over the final 50M of the race and shifted in approaching the finish.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ORIENTAL SPIRIT (App CK Khaw) and IPOH DASH (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptor, BEST DREAM was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

ORION and AGUERO, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore suspensory and was knocked near hind fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MAPLE RISING (App L De Souza) had to steady racing to the 1400M in tight galloping room.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of CATCH ME GREAT and Jockey S Anandan, the rider of OVERSEER, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of CATCH ME GREAT and OVERSEER revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of PARAGON STAR (SU Lim) and MORALES (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Stewards questioned App S Saddam into the poor performance of MORALES.  He stated that the gelding had no early pace despite being urged and failed to respond to his riding at any stage of the race.  His explanation was noted.  The Stewards will advise Trainer K Coetzee who was not present on course today to report back should he find anything amiss with MORALES during the week.  His attention will also be drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)).

CIRCUIT LAND which was down 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOLDEN SWORD (J De Souza) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CIRCUIT LAND (S Muniandy) and EL TORDILLO       (S Anandan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R342) CLASS 3 – 1200M

LIM’S PIPER which was down 18kgs and SECRET AGENT which was up 17kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

BRISTOL DIAMOND (HS Gill) got its off hind leg cast on the back gate and was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4.25 pm. acting on veterinary advice that BRISTOL DIAMOND injured its left flank. 

STREET TAIPAN (R Rueven) jumped with its head up at the start and lost ground.

SILVER WIND (App S Hafis) and TERMS OF REFERENCE (S Salee) were both slow to begin.

ARAGORN (App R Ruwaidy) was held up for clear running from the 400M to the 300M.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TERMS OF REFERENCE returned with a cut to its near fore leg.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of STREET TAIPAN, reported that his mount was not striding out freely and was making respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey J Daniel, the rider of SECRET AGENT, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CHINO DINERO (App M Lukman), CERDAN (App CK Khaw) and D’GREAT RICH (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

SACRED GURU, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

EMPEROR TAIZONG (J Chuah) shifted out on jumping away, taking CAORUNN (S Salee) out onto D’GREAT DUCHESS (R Rueven) which lost its position. 

PURPLE RAIN (J Daniel) had to shift out approaching the 250M to avoid the heels of CRAZY DREAMS (App L De Souza) to obtain clear running.

A post-race veterinary examination of DIAMOND SET (S Muniandy) revealed no obvious abnormality.   CRAZY DREAMS returned having cast its near fore plate.

MARTELLO, a course scratching as it had a swollen near fore leg, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT ACE which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

COMECATCHME (SS Vanan) raced wide from the 800M to the 600M.

Jockeys S Anandan and S Salee, the respective rider of JUST DUIT and RED RACKHAM, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of both geldings revealed no obvious abnormality.

PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST – 3RD  DAY, SUNDAY, 8TH MARCH 2020

PENANG TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2020

The report dated 8th March 2020 (PNTC #V20/04) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 88 coded blood samples were received from the above- mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.   All the samples were analyzed and passed the pre-race testing criteria.
