STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT

2ND DAY, SATURDAY, 7TH MARCH 2020

Mr Philip Anderson (Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward – Chairman), Mr Lee Seng He (Senior Stipendiary Steward) and Mr Devaraj Arujunen (Stipendiary Steward)

RACE 1 (R329) CLASS 5 (B) – 1100M

ALIEN (App CK Khaw) and GHOST SPIRIT (S Anandan) were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and both were passed fit to race.

HEART FEELING (C Goon) which was weakening had to steady passing the 200M when YELLOW JADE HORSE (R Rueven) rolled outwards and at the same time ALIEN rolled inwards away from ROOTER (SS Vanan).

GHOST SPIRIT which was trailing the field, was eased out at about the 400M when Jockey S Anandan felt something amissed with the gelding.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HEART FEELING returned with a cut into its near hind foot.

App CK Khaw, Jockey R Rueven and Jockey S Anandan, the respective rider of ALIEN, YELLOW JADE HORSE and GHOST SPIRIT, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of ALIEN and YELLOW JADE HORSE revealed no obvious abnormality and GHOST SPIRIT returned lame off fore.  As such, GHOST SPIRIT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R330)  CLASS 5 (A) –  1100M

D’GREAT SONG (J De Souza) was tightened shortly after the start when SATELLITE GOLDEN (HS Gill) shifted outwards and at the same time THUNDERSTRUCK (App S Hafis) shifted inwards.  As a consequence, D’GREAT SONG lost its position.

MAMAMIA MAMAMIA (App P Haris) raced tight from the 800M between GOOD WARRIOR (Y Aify) on the outside and THUNDERSTRUCK on the inside and had to be steadied on several occasions until about the 600M when MAMAMIA MAMAMIA had to steady to avoid the heels of GOOD WARRIOR which rolled in.

D’GREAT LUCK (HK Cheng) was held up for clear running on the heels of MAMAMIA MAMAMIA from the 500M until entering the straight.

Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of DAYFLIRT reported that his mount was making respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R331) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M

TEAM WINNER which was up 38kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

HALLELUJAH (App S Saddam) was slow into stride.

App S Saddam, the rider of HALLELUJAH reported that his saddle slipped forward from the 700M, placing him at a disadvantage in riding the mare out for the remainder of the race.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that WORLD HARMONY (J Daniel) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey Y Aify, the rider of RAGNAR, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of BIG LIGHTNING ((M Ganeesh) revealed no obvious abnormality except having cast its off fore plate on returning.

A post-race veterinary examination of AIR COMBAT revealed no obvious abnormality.

Emergency acceptors, BALBOA, BLACK GHOST and BAYMAX were all withdrawn due to a capacity field.

TAN’S LEGENDARY which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

GOLDEN EXPLORER (R Shafiq) steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of GOLD MOSA (App L De Souza) and lost its position.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SATELLITE TURBO (Y Aify)  returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of FLEDGELING (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 5.10 pm. 

SNAGGLE PUSS (J Daniel) jumped away awkwardly.

MAGICAL TALENT (J De Souza) was slow to begin.

WINDRUNNER (S Anandan) had to steady racing to the 800M when ELITE GUSTAVO    (KC Wong) rolled outwards.  As a consequence, WINDRUNNER lost its position and racing to the 600M, had to check to avoid the heels of WINNING WAR (App P Mogun) and lost further ground. 

Post-race veterinary examinations of FRANCES (HK Cheng) and SNAGGLE PUSS revealed no obvious abnormality.

App CC Foo, the rider of POLO TYCOON, was shown the vision of the finish of the race in the presence of his Acting Trainer, SY Lim, and was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the finish of the race, a repetition of which may result in action being taken against him.

MR RIGHT (Y Aify) jumped away awkwardly.

Jockey S Anandan, the rider of GOLDEN STATES reported that his saddle slipped forward shortly after the start, placing him at a severe disadvantage in riding his mount out throughout the running of the race.   

Post-race veterinary examinations of RED SAPPHIRE (KC Wong) and SONG KID (App L De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality.

GENERAL REPORT(S)

APPEAL BY VISITING JOCKEY DANIEL JAGADISHAN  AGAINST THE 4 MONTHS SUSPENSION AND RM10,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(10) IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING AND HANDLING OF RACEHORSE “EMIRATES WARRIOR” IN RACE 4 (R1580) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M (WEIGHT-FOR-AGE) ON SATURDAY, 21ST DECEMBER 2019, 1ST DAY, PENANG YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP DECEMBER MEETING 2019

The Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards today (6th  March 2020) heard the above Appeal and heard submissions from Jockey J Daniel and Trainer K Coetzee, the rider and trainer of EMIRATES WARRIOR respectively.

After considering the submissions from Jockey J Daniel, Trainer K Coetzee and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward and reviewing the video replays, the Racing Stewards dismissed Jockey J Daniel’s appeal.

However, the Racing Stewards reduced his suspension to two (2) months, effective from Monday, 9th March 2020 and to expire on Friday, 8th May 2020, both dates inclusive. 

Furthermore, the Racing Stewards waived the fine of RM10,000/-. 

Jockey J Daniel’s deposit was forfeited.


PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST – 2ND DAY, SATURDAY, 7TH MARCH 2020,

PENANG MARCH MEETING 2020

The report dated 7th March 2020 (PNTC #V20/03) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 85 coded blood samples were received from the above mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.   All the samples were analyzed and passed the pre-race testing criteria.

STEWARD’S EMBARGO FROM EQUINE HOSPITAL REPORT FROM 22ND  JANUARY 2020 TO 21ST FEBRUARY 2020

The following horse had undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital between 22nd January 2020 to 21st  February 2020 and as such will be required to pass a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again:-

POST-RACE URINE:

22ND & 23RD FEBRUARY 2020

PERAK TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2020

The report dated 5th March 2020 (V20/035) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 49 bottles of coded urine samples and 49 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 23rd February 2020 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

GENERAL REPORT – SLTC

TUESDAY, 3 MARCH 2020, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER PRACTICE

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GLORY KID was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.


RACE 9 (R302) CLASS 4 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE), SATURDAY, 29 FEBRUARY 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2020

A subsequent veterinary examination of HORSEH revealed that it was lame off fore fetlock and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
