RACE 1 (R680) CLASS 5(B) – 1400M              

MR CONNERY, JEFFREY and NAPOLEON, all course scratching as they had sustained a sore back, a stone bruise off hind sole and had a swollen near fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer HS Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule / Regulation 152(5)(a) for failing to declare the use of blinkers on SONG RIVER (Y Aify) within the stipulated time.

FIRST SUCCESS (CC Foo) jumped awkwardly inwards, carrying CHIPS (AK Lim) inwards,

inconveniencing PENANG BANK (App N Varmah). 

DAWNBREAKER (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

CHIPS raced wide into the home straight, carrying BIG POWER (App R Nuqman) wide.

PENANG BANK was hanging out in the latter stages.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of RAISE ME UP, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MY MONEY (S Rosmizan) returned, cut into its off fore cannon.  MY MONEY will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer K Coetzee was questioned with regards to the improved performance of POWER EXPRESS (S Saddam) today.  Other than having jumped awkwardly, bumping the outside gate as reported, he also stated that in his opinion, this horse runs its best races in Penang.  His explanation was noted.

SONNY BILL, LUCKY SIXTYSIX, NOVA DASHING and SILVER SIXTYSIX are all  course scratching.  SONNY BILL had a swollen off fore fetlock, LUCKY SIXTYSIX had sustained a swelling near hind fetlock, NOVA DASHING had sustained a swelling off hind fetlock and SILVER SIXTYSIX had sustained a sore back.  The 4 geldings will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on veterinary advice that ORION (S Ruzaini) was sore near fore foot, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.59pm.  ORION will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HALLELUJAH (S Rosmizan) and PARISBAS (CC Foo) were both slow into stride. 

At approximately the 200M-mark, D’GREAT WIN (AM Aizat) shifted out to obtain a clear run.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of MAKE DREAM and Jockey S Rosmizan, the rider of HALLELUJAH, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of MAKE DREAM revealed no obvious abnormality.   HALLELUJAH returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

QIJI LOVE, a course scratching as it had sustained a stone bruise off hind sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MOONSHINE MISTRESS (App N Varmah) was slow into stride.

Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of ALWRICH reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of ALWRICH revealed no obvious abnormality.  ALWRICH which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of GURNEY DRIVE, reported that this mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of GURNEY DRIVE revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of SUNNY STAR (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality.  The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

LAGO DE COMO, a course scratching as it had a sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor, SACRED GALAXY was withdrawn due to a capacity field. 

LEGEND WAR which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start. 

Jockey S Rosmizan was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to  make the carded weight on UNSTOPPABLE GIANT.  As there was no jockey available, the Stewards permitted App R Nuqman to replace Jockey S Rosmizan as the rider of UNSTOPPABLE GIANT.

HONEY BOWL (F Yap) and CHER (App N Varmah) were both slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of AIR BOSS (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey S Ruzaini was questioned with regards to the poor performance of MULTIBLUE SHARK today.  He stated that this horse took no interest despite his attempt at urging his mount throughout.  Trainer S Cook would be questioned with regards to the disappointing performance of MULTIBLUE SHARK.  A post-race veterinary examination of this gelding  revealed no obvious abnormality.  MULTIBLUE SHARK was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

The state of track was upgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.

MYO and HARVEYWALLBANGER, both course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock and a bruised near hind foot respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BILLION SENSE which was down 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer  F Maynard was fined RM500/- (Ringgit Malaysia Five Hundred) under PNTC Official Programme Clause 3.4 for scratching AMAZING ECLIPSE (R Rueven) without an Official Veterinary Certificate. 

AMAZING CHOICE (App A Najib) and NO REGRETS (KP Lim) both jumped awkwardly.

A post-race veterinary examination of HAZARD (Y Aify) revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that D’GREAT RICH (S Salee) returned having cast its off hind plate.

Jockeys S Saddam and SU Lim, the rider of MACARTHUR and STAGESHOW respectively, were warned against the practice of using their whip when their mounts were clearly out of contention.

RACE 6 (R685) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M 

FANTASTIC ECLIPSE, a course scratching as it had a swollen left knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MISS MICHELLE (S Ruzaini) jumped awkwardly. 

Rounding the turn at the 800M-mark, SHENG PROISIR (R Rueven) raced wide without cover.

AYAAN (App N Varmah) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight, carrying IPOH DASH (S Saddam) inwards and at approximately the 100M-mark, IPOH DASH switched out over the heels of AYAAN to obtain a clear run.

A post-race veterinary of SHENG PROISIR revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that AYAAN returned lame off fore and D’GREAT SUPREME (S Salee) bled.  AYAAN will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.  D’GREAT SUPREME will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey F Yap was shown the video of his ride on MAGNOLIA BLVD and was warned against the practice of excessive whip use.

RACE 7 (R686) CLASS 5 (A) – 1100M

SKY DRAGON and CITY KNIGHT, both course scratching as they had cellulitis off fore cannon and was knocked near fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WINNING LEGEND which was down 36kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start. 

WINNING LEGEND (J Daniel) jumped awkwardly inwards, carrying PENNSYLVANIA    (AK Lim) inwards, resulting in D’GREAT VULTURE (AM Aizat) being inconvenienced. 

At approximately the 800M-mark, WINNING LEGEND shifted inwards, resulting in ROCK ARTIST (S Rozmizan) clipping its heels, stumbling and rolling outwards, bumping MATILDA (KP Lim).  In this incident, the saddle on MATILDA slipped backwards.  At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey J Daniel pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) and was suspended for two (2) race days with effect from Monday, 13th June 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 19th June 2022, both days inclusive.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5.45pm).

A post-race veterinary examination of MATILDA revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that WINNING LEGEND returned having cast its off fore plate.

RACE 8 (R687) CLASS 5 (A) – 1100M 

Jockey S Rosmizan was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to  make the carded weight on ZILFIKAR.  The Stewards permitted Jockey J Daniel to replace Jockey S Rosmizan as the rider of ZILFIKAR.

NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (S Ruzaini) was slow into stride.

At approximately the 700M-mark, STORM TO WIN (App N Varmah) commenced to give ground abruptly, resulting in NEVERUNCONDITIONAL which was following, having to check off its heels.   

In the concluding stages, OUD WOOD (App R Nuqman) shifted inwards, inconveniencing ROTI KAYA (KP Lim) who thereafter had to switch out over the heels of OUD WOOD to obtain a clear run.  App R Nuqman was shown the video of the incident and warned to keep his horse on a straight course in future. 

A post-race veterinary examination of  STORM TO WIN revealed no obvious abnormality. 

An Inquiry into the running and handling of  STORM TO WIN will be held at a date to be fixed.

Acting on. a veterinary report that SATELLITE GENIUS (SU Lim) sustained a bruised near fore sole, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.42pm.  SATELLITE GENIUS will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT CHANCE (AM Aizat) was hanging out in the straight.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAJESTY WARRIOR (KP Lim) returned having cast both hind plates.  The gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

POST RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

21ST MAY 2022

PENANG MAY MEETING 2022 

The report dated 2nd June 2022 (V22/079) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 24 coded urine and 30 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 23rd May 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected. 

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:

21ST MAY 2022

PENANG MAY MEETING 2022 

The report dated 2nd June 2022 (V22/080) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 2 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 23rd May 2022, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected, except for sample coded “J-6410” which upon analysis, was tested positive to “Mitragynine”, a prohibited substance.

Upon decoding, it was noted that sample coded “J-6410” was provided by Jockey KC Tham.   Jockey KC Tham was notified of the finding from USains Biomics Laboratory on Friday, 3rd June 2022.   He was also informed that he would receive a letter from the MRA in due course advising him of the provisions of MRA Rule 137 and MRA Regulation 46 with regard to the Referee Sample.   

Under MRA Rule 136(3), Jockey KC Tham is stood down from riding in races and riding trackwork, barrier trial and tests with immediate effect pending an Inquiry being conducted at a date to be fixed.

The Senior Veterinary Surgeon of Perak Turf Club Equine Hospital reported that the following horses had undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital between 22nd April 2022 to 21st May 2022 and as such, will be required to pass a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again :-
